I no longer think the staff needs our appreciation. Rajaa is a biased prick who bullies people and lies about whatever and gets the rest of the staff drinking that kool aid.

What the hell was I smoking when I thought the MFG staff needed any appreciation. Must have been some pretty good drugs.

They say the way to trully appreciate someone is to spend time in their shoes. How about have a revolving mod position with a term limit of 1 to 2 weeks. Whoever will then go through seeing just how much the staff puts up with whatever. And at the end of their term, they will gain said appreciation.

And if anyone in said role ever abuses their power, immediately kicked out of the position and earn a hard 30 day ban for their actions.

I can tell you right now this will never happen as there are some people that should never mod anything ever. I will not give names.

There isn't a strong enough way to describe how much of a bad idea that is.

People always bash the staff. I've seen it everywhere. You don't like them because they stop you running your mouth and disrupting things. Of course, only some people do that, and as such only some people hate the staff.

It's endless, and unsolvable. And when the forum needs to be used for a purpose as well as chat, you need staff.

If a forum has no staff at all, you get anarchy very quickly, and unless that's the idea of the forum it's not worth visiting.

I agree with you fully that this will go nowhere. There's a very good reason why you see the staff talking amongst themselves when it comes to assigning new staff: you need to find a certain type of individual that would be willing to take on what honestly is a crappy position with no real incentive to it, be willing to do it for an unspecified period of time, and not completely botch it up. It's a pretty small group when you think about it, especially since I can tell you that of that group you'll find that people who could honestly do the job well want no part of it.

You know who's in a really shitty position here? Val. He's both acting administrator and owner of the site. Sure he technically has other people that can do the job keeping order on the forum most of the time, but you know it's necessary for him to get his own hands dirty on a regular basis, plus he has to also make sure that the web space itself keeps working properly. What if Val wanted out? Sure he could do it, but unless an alternate arrangement was made he's still footing the bill for the place. Wouldn't surprise me if he was hanging around just to justify having sunk all this time and cash out of his own pocket to keep this thing running.

  • Fuck You.
I think the staff are cool. I've never had any run-ins with anyone. But that's another story for another day.

I would love the idea of a mini democratic government here.
Campaigning for staff positions, voting, term limits...it would be neat.

I have no clue if it would work or not, but it would sure be fun to watch.

As long as the staff members practice what they preach and act in a respectful manner with no bias then everything should be peachy.  The mark of a good authority figure is someone who can handle a yelling, immature, disrespectful punk with class and not allow themselves to get mad and stoop to their level.

I have to agree with this. Val isn't on a nice position here.
While sometimes the technical aspect of putting new features on the board software up can be fun and interesting, it's not much so when it comes the time to update the software to a new version.
And... from time to time, drama seems to show up out of nowhere and has to be dealt with.
Not fun.

I don't think Val should have to worry about the running of the user base. Just the site, and the occasional request that requires forum hackery we've already discussed and decided on.

Oh yes it would.

Or I can think of many ways that would make me appreciate the staff more.

this is a bad idea

YAHH I HATE ALL MODS THIS IS A GREAT IDEA MOD ME SO I CAN KILL MUGENGUIiLD!\!!  ← What hes thinking. What he'll tell you.   →  This is a great idea. I'm sure this will teach me how to respect mods better and i will gladly be the first to test this amazing idea :).     Thats 1. 2, there will always be new people so theres no point to this and its normal to have bad people on the internet. It wouldn't be the internet without them. And also, wen you choose to be a mod, you also have to accept the faqt that you will probably have to face some one bad eventually. Yes this is a bad idea beccause it would be a waist of time. I request this topic to be lockt.

You can't really request someone else's thread to be locked, especially when it's still being replied to.

@E Yeah and look how that turned out.

@ Doc that would be interesting, but with the club/mob thing, it would suck. That and you never want the guys who want it.

We should do it once just for a laugh and then not give the person who wins a position.
