Hello,

Here is a christmas present from MugenBR to this great Mugen community: an exclusive interview with the staff of Elecbyte (the company behind Mugen).

The interview covers many points of the Mugen history: we talk a litle about the past, the present (what is being developed, about the community), new features that the community hope to see in mugen and we also talk about the future of Mugen (what we can expect from future versions).

The interview can be read here: http://www.mgbr.net/index.php?lang=ENG&end=multi&id=132&sid=53663.

A merry Christmas to all and a 2011 with many great things for the Mugen community !

These are the wishes of,
DeLeTeBR and MGBR Crew
MugenBR become fully international, take a look at our forums !

That's excellent and very well done. Nice to see a lack of obsession about "new" features. I also like that this question was asked

Quote
4) And for the last, sorry but I had to ask happy.gif, does Elecbyte team has any plans to implement an on-line feature in Mugen ?

And a rather emphatic
Quote
Unfortunately no, not at this time. This feature would only work reasonably within a closed full game environment. Trying to implement something like this in a general manner would undoubtedly be full of problems and never work reliably.

We're not opposed to online play, but it's something we have to think over carefully on how to implement that.
Was recieved.

At least they acknowledged it and aren't completely opposed to it. Really good interview, thanks!  :)

Great interview. I'm glad to hear that they're considering engine add-ons for things like points and ranking systems. More flexibility!

Nice read. Good to see that their position on online mugen is exactly what everyone, who has put a moment of concious thought into it, has been saying for the past 3 years now. It's a shame an official statement from an Elecbyte member won't slow down the new threads and online suggestions though.

Also this, oh my god, yes!  :D

Is good to know that MUGEN is not dead, but only 3 members seems to be like walk in a narrow street.

"1) Talking about 'new features the community would like to see in Mugen', how about interactive stages (where a character is able to interact with a particular place on the stage, ex: breaking walls ), does Elecbyte has any plans to implement such feature ?

We're looking into adding something like that in the future, but we haven't been working on it since were currently restructuring the engine. Hopefully once that is done to our liking, we'll be able to look into how we can accomplish interactive stages and other features that people have been asking."

That would be a real good thing, similar to Marvel vs Capcom.
Really good for our eyes  ;D

as far as new features go, I am more interested in improving the projectile sub-engine.

it's ok, there are a lot of nice pieces of sofftware that were made by small teams, they don't have to make any media so they don't need to be as big as the regular game companies at all.
