I'm only at 100 BP because I really suck online despite having 5 wins in Ranked battles. I just have no luck (although I know that there are some really good players out there... which is why I spend most of my online time with this game watching replays so I can learn something, if anything, from them). Also, if anyone has a PS3, hit me up and look for WaterDragon77... I'll be the guy maining Sagat and Kuma.
I've gotten to 1000 bp myself using Guile/Kuma.Speaking of DLC, how does everyone feel about the free ones coming next week?
I can't believe you people bitched him out for playing Ryu lol. I can't even imagine how your shotophobia must kick in when you actually play against other people. Considering that Ryu is already considered one of the best characters in this game I suggest you all get used to fighting him....moreso than usual.

I touched Jin like ONCE. I feel disapointed in myself now.
Let's look at it like this. The fact that there's nothing wrong with using a popular and very viable character aside (will never understand why Mugen forums think it's so un-cool to use shotos, everybody gotta use the jobbers for some reason), when a lot of people use a character, it makes it easier to learn the matchup because you will have more experience fighting them. And considering that Ryu is extremely widely used, that means that you will get plenty of matchup knowledge for fighting him. That knowledge is INVALUABLE in this game since there is a very high likelihood of him being at least A+ tier. It all works to your advantage.
I think people had a problem because I sounded like that I wouldn't even attempt to use more characters from the Tekken sideThat and the fact I use a Shoto, but hey! it isn't Ken! D:
Here's what you do: play who you like to play. If you like to play Ryu, play Ryu. If you think Ryu is fun and everyone else thinks he's boring, who cares, if you have fun playing Ryu then play him. If your reason for not playing Tekken characters is that you've never played Tekken, that's fine too. Always play who you want. Never let anyone else influence your decision or speak against your reasoning for your character choices. Have it your way™
LOL Decent debates.Remember though, its Tekken characters in a Street Fighter world (Ha!! Sounds like a movie trailer!!). Kazuya hardly plays like his Tekken counterpart. He feels like a shoto with Kazuya's Tekken moves implemented. And that's not a bad thing. What's important is that each Tekken character feels a bit like their original counterpart within SF's gameplay mechanics. I tried picking up King and expected tons of complicated throw inputs. Instead, I found two throw inputs. Even with that, King feels Tekken-ish while playing like a SF character.I'm currently at 1192BP's with Vega and Cammy. At this level of play, I'm starting to notice more distancing games with plenty of footsie attacks and cross up patterns, which makes players in the 150 to 600BP range easy to beat. I fought this incredibly patient Abel and Nina team. The guy picked me apart with just lead ins from footsies. I picked up a few distancing tactics from that. I'm noticing that my game is also evolving: Cross-ups and patterns are easier to spot. Dealing with them.... Working on it.

Raven doesn't feel like his original counterpart (not overhead chop, charge, fake hit to teleport) And from the looks of it, Alisa won't play like her counterpart. The rest? Yeah, they definitely play like the way you described (He has his counters, Shining Wizard, dodge step, etc.)
King is much less effective with grabs made specifically for crouching/standing/jumping instead of just having traditional ground grabs with an air grab made for grabbing airborne opponents. I think Capcom tried too hard to make him unique and ended up with a character that is way too complicated and is an overall clusterfuck of new-ass mechanics. Not saying he's BAD but christ a lot of stuff he has could be a lot more simplified and more effective.

She feels.... too similar.... Many people have pointed out that Julia even uses some of Yun/Yang's frames and animations.
