HYDRON:

(Minor patch for January 28th... check the readme)
27-January-2008

More updates in response to feedback...

What's new?

1.  His CFE background has been replaced with his background from Warzard (ripped by me :D)
2.  CLSNs for strikers have been modified to remove their infinite priority.
3.  Minor changes to the spark and bind positions for Red Earth Assault

What did I say last time?

The tadpoles now fly in from two directions to make the winpose more accurate to Warzard
An error in the stance animation was corrected.
The CLSNs on the Strikers were modified:
--> Lavia: You can now duck underneath her
--> Gigi: You can now jump over him

New move added: Energy Drain

Hydron sticks you with his trident, drains your life and adds it to his own, then taunts you while you're dizzy.
(Have you ever given blood?  That's why the opponent is dizzy...)

Midnight Bliss (state 9020) has been added.
Either people don't like strikers at all, or they wish they weren't unblockable.
Well, your wish(es) have been granted.  You can also attack the strikers, but do so with caution.
If you don't use a projectile (or have a HUGE reach with an attack), you may still get hit!

He's been scaled to have a 4:3 ratio.  ||  He's got his HyperBG from CFE

He has a new Hyper -- Tadpole Tantrum. || He has IceBlocks to go along with his regular blocks when he blocks an attack.

He's got A.I.  ||  His winpose is now more like Warzard's.  His other winpose now has lightning.

His Lightning Mast and Strangle Spark now connect faster to make the attacks more annoying.
Strangle Spark cannot be blocked.
New sounds for activating the Hypers.

ICELARN:

My first stage!

I ripped this stage from Warzard.  This is Icelarn, the stage where you fight Hydron.  I ripped the music directly from the disc of Capcom Fighting Evolution and it appears to be Hydron's theme... whatever.  I can't wait to move on to Phobos, but I'm loving this new ToggleMAME that lets me rip from CPS3 games.

I like this char very much, especially love the detail of all his graphics.
But is his Strangle Spark Hyper supposed to be unblockable? And the strikers sometimes seem to be, too (is there a way to switch them off anyway? I understand many people liking them, but for me it seem just too much.)

After all, great release!

A lot of Hydrons moves are unblockable in Warzard, so it'd be pretty accurate.

Haven't tested, but expect feedback since I always enjoyed fighting him (and Hauzer) in Warzard. :P

Edit: After some 1vs1 battles (playing against him), I found his AI to be extremely brutal, but in a good way. Great boss-level AI, though I noticed his strikers were kinda cheap, since you can't prevent them from attacking by hitting them, which you might fix. Might also consider increasing the number of "Little Nools" spawned in the super-version, since he summoned (I think) 6 or so in Warzard. Otherwise, nice first creation, I really enjoyed playing against him. :P
Coming soon

Something maybe possibly related to possible maybe Mugen WIP.

Thank you for your feedback!

I've been hearing a lot of complaints about the strikers.  Some people don't like them at all; others don't appreciate that they're unblockable.  I'll see about fixing this so that you can at least block against them.

The "Little Nools" that come out from the Tadpole Tantrum vary in number depending on the attack's level.  The numbers are 3 (for level 1), 5 (for level 2), and 7 (for level 3).

His strikers have two glaring problems.

The first is they can't be knocked away or blocked.

The second is they don't even attack. They just walk through the screen and hurt you. You might want to consider having them actually preform some sort of attack so it looks like they're doing something. It was a really nice idea but it could use some polish imo.

He's otherwise a very nicely made character. (Personally I'm not feeling his SGS thing, either. But that's just me)

For Hydron's lightning supers, try using addalpha instead of add for the transparent sparks.  This will still allow them to be bright but not turn most of the screen white.  Instead of A, try AS128D256 or AS192D256.

As for the stage, I haven't played the original, so I'm not quite sure what to look for.  When using animations, the mask command is automatically locked to 1 and cannot be changed.  So, there's no need to specify it.  It can be a problem if you actually do NOT want masking (then the masking color needs to be set to a color not used in the image).  Also, set floortension to something high like 70.  That way, the screen doesn't move so much during regular jumps.

First off, I made a minor update to Hydron that fixes a bug in his energy drain move.  I forgot to take into account how some characters do not have state 5300 (or the same number of sprites for it that Hydron does... oops.)  The download link contains the newly patched character and the stage again.  The patch link contains only the CNS, AIR, DEF, and Readme files.

No, that is Vanity13's Demitri, the best looking Darkstalker's conversion of Demitri out there imho...

For his lightning hypers, you're probably referring to the white flashes that are everywhere during ALL of his hyper moves.  I put that in because in CFE he only had a hyper BG for the superpause, not for during the move like you'd see in MvC.  I thought this was boring, so I used the flashes.  They are a bit overpowering, so I may dial back on them.

I have ZERO experience with stages save what I posted for download.  I'll play around with floortension, but I'll also go back and check to see how the stage played in Warzard.  Thank you for this helpful feedback!

I played this Hydron & he is great!! He plays very well and his Mystic Breaks (supers) are very well done for a conversion to Mugen, including Tadpool Tantrum. My only gripe is how Strangle Spark comes out soooo fast for an unblockable move but apart from that he's great.

Question, will you add another AI setting for him? Because the current one is incredibly brutal, although challenging once you get the hang of Hydron's fighting style. Looking forward to the next update ;D
