Specific character makes Mugen crash

Hi, I'm trying to use Sonia (Rage of the Dragons) by Jennifer. I can select her but when the vs. screen comes up, it hangs, then Mugen crashes and I get the 'send error report' from Windows.
What is causing this crash? I am able to use her King CVS and Benimaru CVS fine.

um, a couple things come to mind.  First, be sure the character's def file has the characters names in quotes at the top.  Second, it may be crashing because its trying to load a character's color pallete that may not have been included in the character's zip or rar file you downloaded;  in the character def file, if its not there, at the top, where it has the character's name in quotes, there should be a line reading : pal.defaults = 1,2,3,4  or some such sequence of numbers.  these numbers determine which palletts are available when the cpu chooses a color for the character when you fight against them. it also determines ( I THINK), that if you pick say, color 2, and that color is not listed as an available pallette in the def file (pal1 = 1.act
                                                                                  (pal2 = 2.act

then it will crash as you are describing in the versus screen before the fight loads.

also I have noticed that in the mugen config or system def file, where you have the option to tell mugen to either pick a random color by default or always choose pallete 1 by default, the game crashes often when you tell mugen to always choose pallette 1 as the default. It crashes less if you tell it to randomly choose a color, but you must be sure that pallette is included in the character's def file, and that the pal.defaults are set to the available pallettes.

if you can copy and paste the entire text of the character's def file here for me to take a look at, I may be able to solve your problem if something doesnt look right. worth a shot.

The problem is in the versiondate line.  Open up the def file and comment it out.

I just realized this topic is a month old.   ¬_¬
