Variable geo medley WIP topic

Some info abut the gameplay as requested:

* characters will be 4 buttons, with teh shoulder buttons left for macros.
* gameplay is a mix of classic style gamepaly (mainly based in kof) and doujin style gameplay 8mostly based on the rumble fish-melty blood)
* 3 power stocks, regular super consume one stock, higher level super onsume two stocks, CD attack and super defensive art use 2 stocks as well.
* defensive options, just defense, super defensive art, roll-evade.
* offensive options, CD attack, super cancelling, cancel special to special, powered up mode.

Will have a special move for simul as opossed to just having 4 characters in the screen.
The super defensive art allows you to retaliate when you are getting hit, in a similar way to a combo breaker.
The cd attack allows you to restart combos before you use a special attack.
The powered up mode enables chain combos, as well as lessening the cost of suepr cancelling and special to special cancelling.


As a few know, I am working on an all female, mugen fighting game, this is a tentative roster list, complete with the chances of the characters actually making it to the game. The purpose of this topic is to find characters that I might be forgetting about.

No screenshots to tease us ?
No explanation on the gameplay system, since you've already coded some chars ?
Chars will still work in normal mugen, or are they completely modified for the game ?

Is there a good peach or daisy sprite set that somehow fits with teh previously mentioned chars? I dropped a lot of kof chars because of the shading.

Split the following post in two for logical reasons.

Where would you get the sprites for Samus ? Is this what you meant by "assembling a team" ?

I know a few guys who are interested in samus as well, so editing a whole spriteset is very possible; more so because I owe that to a certain person, so even if I make the sprite set by myself it should be done.
I completely forgot about taki for no reason, but yeah, she is in.
about Li kun's sprites, if I get permission to use them I would go ahead provided he keeps the current level of quality (which seems very likely).

The game is not very presentable yet, so the shot would only show chars beating each other in stage0.
I will update my first post later with game system explanations.

The chars are balanced for the game, though they should not be completely unplayable in mugen, just unbalanced; I think the only thing that might break mugen with them is their throw code as it assumes var0 is used as the morph var.

how about gardevoir?
I wouldn't consider that a infinite since you have to make your opponent bounce of the wall and if you do it on the wrong side of the stage the stage interaction would activate.

if I could get over that tidbit he/she would be in my all female roster too, it sucks because there is some really good art for that character,
but everytime I was playing that character I would be thinking "that's a dude" especially when the supers were executed --;

Jun the swan has got decent chances to make it.

About Poison it makes sense having him slipping in an all female tournament, so his chances are not affected by him being a man.

Oh, I am most likely NOT going to use guilty gear chars, as I heavily dislike how their sprites look if mixed with the kof-cvs chars, even tought I like the charcter designs.

But bridget doesnt like to have to wear those kind of clothes, doubt he would feel identified with a all woman tournament.

Oh come on now, Other than not having a big rack, Bridget looks like a cute teen girl. I didn't even notice till I got to story mode that Bridget was a boy. Not ever gal looks like a drugged up ten cent hucker with pink hair. Some have orange hair.

I like the gameplay system you're using. :)

Although I don't understand what you mean by "mix of classic style gamepaly (mainly based in kof) and doujin style gameplay 8mostly based on the rumble fish-melty blood)".
The styles are so different I don't see how you could "mix" them. Are you talking about velocities, techniques, system aspects, etc.

Hitdefs and basic cancels are based off kof, while the air recovery and more advanced cancels are based of rumble fish. Since almost nobody is familiar with said game I used the term doujin game as reference to that generation of games.

In the next weeks I think i should release a beta with raiya and blair as a gameplay test, as fighting blair vs blair can be rather boring.

i think we should call it an "engine" so we don't look like total idiots because otherwise we'd be arguing about a "game" and that would be somehow "dumber" than arguing about an "engine" on the "internet" for countless hours

nakoruru sounds decent, albeit she lacks a lot in the good looking department.

LoL so this is a Beauty Variable Geo tournament

thats a lot of work you are arming yourself with i only hope you dont lose interest in the project altogether. is the project just characters or will you create a SP and dedicated stages to go along with them?

There will be stages and a screenpack, though I am currently concentrating in the characters, this week I have been standarizing raiya's code so it is the same as blair's whenever possible, as well as splitting code files into identical code and character specific.

Or to make things more clear, I am highly likely getting someone else on board to help with the stages and the screenpack later in the road.
