R-G Team updated mkp 5.0a.
This sub-version 0.8 (codename) have many bug fixes

1. Fixed bugs with basic attacks
2. Lifebars and blood sparks are now transparent
3. Fixed bugs with some special attacks
4. Fixed version number in game intro
5. Fixed miscellaneous falling states
6. Removed many garbage / not used sprites
7. Some silent stages now have bgms

Is this the same MKP team working on this still or just another revamped project by someone else?
Also, I see only a handful of characters were included here + Unmasked Subzero if you download him on the same page...Does this mean that they are 100% done and the others are still WIP or what?

Anyways, this looks and plays smoother than ever and it's good to hear that it's still being updated.

BTW, great work on the Shao Kahn pic on your avi...must've been a bitch to get it looking so nice from the original Genesis sprite.

Two words - new project..

All new features and fixes in this version were completed by me and Fly. So, R-G Team is name of our collective..
In next version we planned to realize:

- Individual tracks for stages from mk2,mk3,mk4 (finish him and round over music included) - work in progress. I'll complete code for this feature. (Fly, thank you for help with decrease size of this code);
- New sounds from mk2, mk3, mkt - done. I'll already ripped all sounds from these games..;
- New stages from mk2, mk3 - partially done. I'll upload these stages early on this forum;
- New character - Sub-Zero_mk3 - done;
- Hmm, and, of course, major code rewrite (15%). So, you'll can say, that this engine completed by russians.;)

So, this is new our project, because.. Beta 5 was freeze, as I know.))

P,S, My avatar was created from original hi-res shao kahn's versus.:) Because I know author of this picture.

He just said that the last one (Beta 5) was "Freeze"...does that mean that the original team (Ratonmalo and others) stopped working on it?

I don't mean to be all mugen police up in here but, did you and your team get permissions from the original authors to continue development of this game? After all...it still holds the same name and concept.

It's only bugfix.))) So, if you like bugs, you can continue play in v0.7.

Thanks...)) About  compatibility, it's not possible, because we use other engine... So, characters and stages already incompatible with alpha too.

I downloaded this and checked it out and i have to say its pretty freaking awesome, i like the new select screen and character portraits plus the new combo system. I saw other characters also on the site are they apart of this project, i ask because when i downloaded some and added them and realized their portraits are all messed up, they have no versus screen portraits and weird glitches in fights.

Other version will have changed engine from 4.1 with our additions. So, I never ask permission, because it's already our own engine.)))

I think this was the stolen beta from the original MKP Team(and, yes, stolen apply here) , with few touches.

I'd rather wait for the true MKP Beta 5.

Thedge was right. the alpha was stolen.. and if you work on it that doesn't mean that it's your own engine. the basic engine is mugen himself, not our alpha..
anyways, as i say a lot of times that is very old and buggy. that doesn't mean that the mkp team let's you use it. you do it without our agreement, likes others mkp 4.x games.
finally, mkp 5 will be released some day.

About 5.0 beta, I don't see youtube video with really changes from alpha gameplay, sorry.
