Are not they currently being used to show clsns in capcom games ?
Yep.  But aside from Xenozip putting up videos and the VSAV wiki on mizuumi getting updated with pics I really don't know who's using them.
Likewise, in the mugen community I don't know anyone other than JZ who's used them for a project.

Is this topic relevant anymore?
I say keep it there for some people who actually still care about that sort of thing, especially considering that Japan sort of goes by the old rules, if Warusaki's recent behavior was/is any indication and some people may want their releases to be able to be announced there. Take that with a grain of salt, though, as their community is a bit of an enigma due to the fact that it mostly resides on scattered BBS.

Lost_Avenger, Kamekaze, Gal129, possibly Vans.

I use them (as a loose reference) in my Capcom characters because they're the best I can do without CvS2 hitboxes *cough cough*

Back on topic kind of: although it is not an old sticky (because I just made it), I am still slowly updating the Optional Animation Standards thread. I could use some help in identifying characters which use the animations listed though!

I have i have, me me me.

Actually they work but are KINDA a bitch to deal with. They are delayed a frame, that doesn't help heaps. Also the inbuilt screenshot ability of FBA-rr is crap in that you can't remove BG and play the game with it gone. You also have to take screenshots with something like animget as the inbuilt screencap will not pick up any of the stuff the lua script puts in place.

To make decent use of it i've had to find a non-animated stage and then use artmoney to lock power and life in place so as not to get too many shots from animget.

The lack of available cheats for fba-rr has made this harder too. I dunno what mame-rr is like, historically mame has no real shot factory anyway so you're probably in the same boat.

Wha? I've been taking screencaps with FBA-rr and it shows the hitboxes fine. I've been able to remove the background too...  :S

That has never worked for me.... Perhaps i need to see if there is a new version. So far every time i've taken the BG off and then closed the shot factory it all reverts to show everything.

From what I read on the site you should use a cheat that they have to remove the background so you can see the clsns better.

You need to take a direct screencap using either printscreen or snipping tool; it won't take shots of the hitboxes with the built-in screenshot option.

I just took this picture 5 seconds ago, using the inbuilt screenshot function.

All I did was disable all sprite layers except for "Sprite Priority 8". This particular shot was done on Chun-Li's SFA3 stage, I just tested it with Rolento's and on that stage there are still some background elements left.

0.0.5 for me. It's up to 0.0.7. If you haven't upgrade time. Although in some ways i think running animget may be a good plan still. At least i can kill the power bars.

[RESURRECTION]
I'm thumbing an idea that I'm wondering if Val and/or the community would like.

It's something I kind of attempted to do on my JNP forum years back. A sprites sounds archive. It would be really nice to have 1 location where we could get rips. With awesome people like JMorphMan separating colors and adding in people's edited works into the packs it'd be really convenient to have 1 location where we could simply add to pre existing sprite packs.

My idea (which can be expanded on cause it probably needs work) is to have Val make a sprites site. Where he could give access to certain users so they could update stuff. Or if he could make it where any forum poster could upload and update packs that'd be even better. Perhaps like a wiki or something where updates can be reverted if need be.

I'm not good at all the technical stuff like that :P I'm just brainstorming here and looking for input.

Well we have the sprites and sounds and resources forum (still) but it's messy and difficult to find anything as there is little likelyhood of a filter for it based on sprites/sounds and it's pretty hard to tell if the stuff is even available. Unless someone is insanely anal and wants to categorise each thread into a thread of links and shit... that's not likely to happen.

I don't disagree with your idea, it just requires someone who wants to do work and we don't have neough people who want to spend that time

Val already mentioned the possibility of letting users upload to Guild's servers. If he could link the forum with the site so that certain classes could update the files then I think it wouldn't be a lot of work.

Basically I am imagining it more akin to the Democracy thread. A person posts a sprite or sound pack to be uploaded. If it seems like an improvement someone with the ability uploads it. That is if Val could interface the upload feature to that site from the forum.

The purpose is so that there is 1 stable location to keep adding to. My CVS2 rips are not needed anymore because Jmorphman updated them with color separation and with several edits. If more edits are made then they can be added to the pack.

I guess if it's too much trouble for Val I might try something similar where people give links to the most updated sprite packs and I can upload them to my server. I can give the access info to the staff so they can as well. But I feel it'd be better if it was all here at MFG.

Is MAME-rr the defacto emulator to use now? What all emulators should I recommend for different arcades/consoles for sprite ripping and data mining?

CPS1,2,3, Atomiswave, DreamCast, Sega Saturn, Neo Geo, PSX, PS2, etc?

For asking which emulators are best for ripping? Probably. But for convenience of people discovering mugen without prior ripping knowledge wouldn't it be a bit easier to tell people what the best emulators to rip from are now? All here in one place instead of having them have to google up that info before they can start working?

I guess I can google it and find out all the info I need, maybe. But that's a lot of researching for me to have to do when there should be plenty of people here that already know and could tell me so I can add that info.

I'm just sticking with Nebula, Mame-rr, ePSXe, and whatever replaced Chankast (still have to look that one up, and I still have to look up the best PS2 emulator out now)
Also, sprite rip sites probably won't mention if an emulator is better at data mining.
