The traditional one vs one, from time to time the different tag match forms can be fun for a while though.

When it comes to teams i prefer 2 vs 2.

1 on 1 please.  Team games are fun and all but it's frustrating building an efficient one sometimes, especially when characters you like lack synergy together.

I used to be in the 1v1 boat, but two games changed my mind and shifted me to 2 on 2 tag.

The first was Rage of the Dragons, because aside from kicking ass, it was fun to switch out between the two, and being able to sacrifice a character to fully heal another one was a great mechanic if used correctly. It also encouraged playing with the canon teams, which generally tended to work out pretty well for some characters, but still being fun with custom teams.

The second was Ougon Musou Kyoku, which put an insane amount of strategy behind the tagging. Each character has his/her own super bar, and you can only fill said bars with the other character. In other words, if you play with one character and never switch out, you can never use a super. Additionally, each character buffs the other when they switch in for a limited time, each buff being unique to the character (ie: Battler gradually heals his partner while his buff is in effect, Beatrice gives a small window of time where her partner can perform a super for no power bar cost, etc etc). This leads to all sorts of in-depth team-building strategies. For example, if I put Jessica and Rosa on a team together, Jessica's buff (increased chip damage and guard meter damage) goes well with Rosa's shotgun attacks which already do immense chip and guard meter damage, and Rosa's buff (one connected attack will prevent the opponent from tagging in their partner for a limited time) allows Jessica more freedom with her combos without fearing her opponent tagging out at an inopportune time.

So yeah, 1v1 is fun, but I love how many strategic options can potentially open up in 2 on 2 tag.

Just 1v1, but I don't really object to any style.
