This thread will be dedicated to the characters that will appear in my full game project.
As you can tell from the title, I'll be working on Ryu, who will serve as a template character (alongside Tifa Lockhart)
Spoiler: explanation of what I plan for my characters (click to see content)
The gameplay is inspired by the C-Groove in
Capcom vs. SNK 2 , so expect it's goodies: Dash, Air Guard, Roll, Limit Cancel (Super Moves are now Limit Breaks for CvSE) and Counter Attack. In addition, characters will have the Advancing Guard from
X-Men vs. Street Fighter , and the Assist System from
Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy .
For those who may not know, here's an explanation:
The Assist system is a new element to the game which allows the player to summon an additional ally into battle to either assist in attacking the enemy or defend from an oncoming attack. It is performed using the Assist Gauge, which is built up by using Bravery Attacks. I will make it to function more less like in Dissidia (though this will be for the full game only), and instead, you use one level from your Limit Break bar to summon a character for a small amount of time.
I'd like to add that just because this game is inspired by
CvS2 , I,
in absolutely no way have any plans to make Ryu, and all subsequent characters accurate to the source that inspired this project, because source accuracy is honestly beyond me.
So without further ado, a video:
VIDEO What's done:
-Basic movement (no shit) and required states and such.
-Normal attacks (I still need to refine them more, they lack things like combo dampener, fixing certain values, etc.)
-Unique attacks (Collarbone Breaker and Hop Kick)
What's next:
-Special attacks, throws
-Limit Breaks
-Intros (only one so far), win poses, taunt, dizzy
-Combo dampener, juggle system, etc.
-SND and hit sparks (atm, I plan on making my own hit sparks from scratch).
I want to thank Just No Point for taking the time to mentor me in the mystical arts of MUGEN coding. Without him, I don't think I'd have been able to do shit, or get anywhere for this project.
That's all for now. I hope to have more substantial progress done on Tifa (graphically) so, expect a video of her to pop up at some point.
