I plan to make Demitri compatible with all the existing ones (including the single sprite variant from CFJ), though, so it should all hopefully be good!

I'm not insane. I'm perfectly sane. Ha ha. Perfect. Hee hee.

75/365 sprites done (not including extras like Midnight Bliss, Pharaoh's Curse et. al., which will be done after the regular stuff is done and I figure out how much room I have in the color table, and also doesn't include DS1/VH stuff, which will be done after release or something)

There's wonkiness going on all over the sprites in that animation, but the hands are probably the worst IMO. In any event, I'm not sure scaling the VS sprites in-game is the answer.

(CFJ uses CFJ pal, other 2 use working default pal)

I tried taking a single VS sprite, scaling it, and then taking the head of that stretched sprite and pasting it over the equivalent CFJ sprite. A few minor touch ups and... I think it looks pretty good? Not super clear on what direction I should be taking things, but this seems like a real possibility right now.

... so I guess. I would. Be using. The. CFJ. Sprites. . .. ...

Actually, fuck it. The CFJ sprites are too fucking sloppy. Better to deal with the occasional wonky animation with the VS set than an entire sprite set of wonky sprites.

So I will learn to live with it. Because I can live with it. I can live with it.

I guess i could always turn Demitri invisible during the more problematic animations and use a helper to display a fixed version based on the CFJ sprites or something, but that can be later. I wanna get to coding, I don't wanna deal with all this shit! >:[ >:[ >:[

Dude, 95% of us will not notice the bad frames, fuck sake I had not noticed guile's ugly svc sprites until you pointed it out, also im gonna tell you what you told me, its mugen, not everything can be perfect.

jmorphman doesn't like to skimp out on sprite details however(it's why he's not using the dampir set or the svc set), it's important especially for a cs job like demitri's

I've thought for a while and in my honest opinion, it may be better to just use the CFJ sprites and fix his face. It'll take way less work than manually resized + touched up sprites in the long run because most of the touching up for the body will have been done for you.

And as for this:

You'll be touching them up anyway. Might as well go with what majority of the work has been done for you and just do what's necessary. Alternatively, don't use those animations. CFJ made some shit "new" animations for Felicia as well that I didn't include because they were very, very poorly-sprited.

Takes way less time to fix a couple of pixels in a face than tons of pixels in a body, trust me.

I should correct that post about maybe switching to manually resized + touched up sprites: I should've said "switching to CFJ sprites that Capcom already scaled, and then manually resizing and touching up all the sprites that weren't".

Buuuuut I don't wanna get sidetracked anymore; I'm just gonna focus on separating the VS sprites for now. I just really really really don't want to get bogged down in a big sprite overhaul project right now, but like I said earlier. I'm not at all opposed to incorporating it later on, though for now, the ocasional wonky animation that results from using VS sprites and scaling them in-game is something that I can live with.
