Ok, so like, this is totally cementing the fact that this isn't really deletion for the universes for me, it's way too light-hearted. Which is good, because man what a waste throwing all these characters out would be. Really, there is no way in hell we've spent so much time hyping Caulifla and Kale for neither to have any sort of farewell and a joke out of Caulifla.
Power scales and abilities have always been a little wonky to get down with Dragon Ball as a whole, to be honest, but how does a black hole impact Instant Transmition's capabilities in the slightest? Did the technique change at some point from a teleportation skill to a Star Trek transporter and it'll mess up his molecules? If gravity was an issue, Goku would die going to King Kai's planet before restabilizing his body. Oh well, whatever, it was dealt with the old-fashioned Kamehameha way.
And, uh, also now #18 and up are now black hole levels of durability. And a drained Goku at base, though I guess we had something similar what with Jiren and showing off Ultra Instinct. That one was long time coming, I suppose.
Anyways, nitpicking aside, I liked it. The guys of universe 2 turning into the magical girls but all sides played it completely straight-faced was funny. Also funny to see another DBM plot point reused in Super, the one-true Namekian. Or two Namekians, in this case. Though DBM upscaled their power to impossible levels, this was a tad bit more believable. Cool action with the fights, mostly on Gohan and Piccolo's side which is also a nice change.
isn't it funny that during Z he's always 90% off action and we can't wait til he comes and saves his teammates and friends in trouble now in super we're just tired of seeing him. to me it feels like he's not the same goku i watched decades ago, he acts and talks really different.
You would not be alone in that thought. Super really comes across that they dumbed down the character's few shining personality traits. Presumably to thus make the rest of the cast shine even more when compared to the star, but that's just my guess. While no one should be expecting anything genius to be spoken out of Goku's mouth unless it's something to do with a fight going on, his IQ in general just seems to have dropped. While he never set out to be any sort of super hero, he did have a proper sense of right and wrong, whilst now it really is more tied to wanting to challenge himself and to hell with the others, unless it directly impacts him. Not at all resembling him trying to set up Earth's protection for the future with Gohan via Cell, in case of Goku's absence. Or even just freaking leaving with Uub, to right the wrongs that Buu caused in his new incarnation. Neither exactly perfect plans, but well-intentioned ones that you would expect from someone of Goku's mindset.
