Glad to see you guys are excited to see the finished product as I am. :P


Well, since the demon face animation wasn't made with the same accuracy as everything else, I think I need some feedback on this one - does it looks alright?

EDIT: Hey, I just noticed there's a way to to implement a stylish face and still keep it sharing colors with everything! By putting a "shadow layer" just below the projectile.

EDIT: Hey, I just noticed there's a way to to implement a stylish face and still keep it sharing colors with everything! By putting a "shadow layer" just below the projectile.
From my tests with some of the samples Froz made of the FX, I came to the same conclusion; additionally, I found that not only of the ES projectile, but all of his FX looked best with an additional subtractive transparency layer beneath them. I suspect that all hi-res FX derived from sprite based effects (as opposed to CvS style effects) look best when displayed this way (for example, Guile's Flash Kick FX—another sprite based effect—also looked best with a subtractive layer).

also, did a quickie test of a potential updated separation on Kyo:

I'm already gonna be doing some fixes on his separated sprites, so it should be really really easy to add in finger and arm separation. And because those two have been added:

it's possible to make relatively decent looking sleeved palettes!

someone who is good at spriting please help me draw these mouths on kyo. my family is dying


ahem, uh, I mean, I'm having trouble with this damn mouth animation. I tried to do it myself but it looked like absolute shit (it can currently be seen in the latest Kyo update as EX Kyo's taunt). Would anyone care to take a whack at it? :3

See what I mean? Getting a tiny tiny patch of pixels to look like it's a mouth blowing out a candle (or I guess a fiery finger, in this case) is frustratingly difficult



I'm still not sure if I've got it right. :S

I knew I had made more frames than the necessary, but I didn't know which frame I should cut.
Spriting in general mouths is tricky, so I wanted to see if I was able to make it work. It's a pretty good result to me.

That animation is straight from CvS2; the only thing that's different is the the mouth, so the legs don't really need any modification! ;P

Here is me not working on anything I should actually be working on:  after playing around with some Rugal stuff for this thing, I had an idea and tried something:

an Omega Rugal stance, made from waru's normal Rugal style God stance sprites. That I made... for some reason? Compare/contrast with regular Rugal and God Rugal

(I AM NOT MAKING RUGAL, AND NO, THIS ISN'T A BIT OR SOME OTHER EXTREMELY DUMB ATTEMPT AT COMEDY LIKE I HAVE DONE SOMETIMES ALL THE TIME, I JUST GOT BORED AND WAS TRYING SOMETHING)

also, this is a thing I've posted on the MFG Discord a few times, and I just realized I never posted it here (and it's not like it's a secret or anything!), so:

this is basically my ultimate goal/endpoint. Compilation is the key word here, although nearly everything's gonna wind up being edited and updated to make it all fit together. Also, I will not be doing it in MUGEN, because MUGEN sucks and is old and too damn limited. There's a lot of successor engines in development right now, so I'm spoiled for choice, but it's not like I need to choose between them right now! This is still quite a way's off!!!
