I've always wanted to play one of these not for any connecting, long over-arching, surely wacko story, but just to have the Big O lumber up like the big lug it is and give a beautifully sluggish heavy right hook into dozens of overly-designed giant robots.  And I guess have an Eva go berserk, that could be fun too.

I'm still baffled Cowboy Bebop somehow fits into all of these too, though.

This is great news.

I love Shovel Knight. I am really looking forward to a sequel. I love how they are going for a snes aesthetic this time.

Early X games were great. It's the later ones that weren't as good. I find classic series more overhyped than X series.

That fangame turning MMX into a Metroidvania is quite an interesting take, but honestly you shouldn't expect the official Mainline Megaman games to follow a Metroidvania formula(Closest you're going to get are the ZX games)

X is getting zero hype. The re-release of X games on various consoles are very rare, they make no noise at all, they get almost no advertising, while every single classic Megaman game builds up a ruckus on every news site.
And yes the earlier X games were great.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

The ZX series could've been sooo much better than the half-assed metroidvania with terrible map that it is.

The original snes trilogy is amazing and X4 is also super good. X5 is decent but its really from there that it gets worst. The X series also has the best ost of all the megaman games

X series? Overhyped? Hell no, that's the Zero and the BN series. Hell, the X series gets the shortest end of the stick most of the times.

MMZ has a solid fandom core and it does have the occasional announcement here and there but it's still far from overhyped. It's barely hyped when there's a re-release - it's just working a bit better than X. Battle Network somehow got a lot of traction when it was around, but I haven't heard anything about it since it disappeared. I don't think it even got any sort of re-release.

Whoa there.

Hold up.

Megaman X was so good, That the mediocrity of the rest of the series can be forgiven.

It's one of the best SNES titles released. Up there with FF6, Chronno Trigger, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and LoZ.

X2 and X3 were not as good, sure. And the only title afterwords even worth remembering is X4. but none of that deflates the importance of MegaMan X.

Combining MMX with a metroidvania is a refreshing idea its sad to hear it didn't work in zx as those are literally the only other ones I haven't tried.

I love the X series in general, even the 3D ones :D

I agree to that, enjoyed the snes titles. But it really goes downhill after X4.
And while classics are overhyped, they were good for their time and of course it's where it all started.

Am I the only one on the planet who liked X5 way more than X4?
Not to say that I hate X4. More like I hate X4 when it comes to playing Zero. lol
Like, that game is actively against Zero at all times. If you play it as X, it's piss easy.

X5 strikes a perfect balance between the two characters, I feel. Plus, the RNG factor makes naked Sigma Stage runs the moment you start the game really enjoyable, without having to be a masochist. First goddamn try after not playing it for ten years, still feels just as good.

Also X8 was pretty damn good for what it was. Optic Sunflower's stage was exceptionally rad!
