Klonoa could be a very safe bet since Namco has only one rep right now for Smash. I don't know if Klonoa has been on Nintendo consoles because I recall he was on the Playstation consoles. The last game I ever saw Klonoa from my memory was Namco X Capcom. If he was to get in Smash, they may use his VA from NxC.

Klonoa: Empire of Dreams for the GBA, and Klonoa for the Wii (which is just a remake of Door to Phantomile). There's also Dream Champ Tournament 2 and Densetsu no Star Medal for the GBA.

He also made cameos in Tales of Symphonia (Gamecube), Tales of Hearts (NDS) and Keroro RPG: Kishi to Musha to Densetsu no Kaizoku (also NDS). Klonoa as a possible NAMCO rep for Smash isn't too far off.
This is a generic forum signature.

Wow, I'm surprised people even want Dante of all characters.

That's...an odd choice to find odd.  Dante and Devil May Cry hasn't particularly hit any lows in popularity since its inception.  Bad points in the game's history with its second game and reboot, but always just around the top 5 Capcom game branches, showing up in cameos and crossovers all the time between games.  I'm not even a fan of the series and his inclusion would be a no-brainer minus the guns and gore, which ever since they added Joker (Or arguably Bayonetta's cartoon-ish high heel guns) is no longer an issue I guess.

How about the Melee rumour, do you think James Bond was even considered? I know it's an old rumour, but with the old idea in mind, do you think it's safe to say that the rumour is debunked completley now?
Well, the Goldeneye 64 bomb was an item to use in Smash 64, tounge-in-cheek referenced as such saying it came from a top secret origin, so clearly it was on the table at SOME point.  But understandable why it was retracted.  It wasn't even a video game specific James Bond made just for the game, a new one carrying the title, it was Pierce Brosnan recreating the movie.

A worthy replacement back then would have been Joanna Dark of Perfect Dark fame, especially being Goldeneye's spiritual successor in every way, but that's going to be even harder to get now that Banjo's already been picked as a Rare/Microsoft rep.

I fail to see how anyone would be surprised by one of the most popular characters in gaming from a very popular franchise would be a popular pick among the playerbase.

Don't get me wrong, DMC is one of my favorite franchises of all time and I get that Dante is one of the most popular characters in gaming but the reason i'm surprised is that there's like, tons of characters that people would really like to see in Ultimate and yet Dante manages to be in at the near top of many people's most wished characters. Which is why it was surprising for me and awesome too.

If Dante gets in, the Project X Zone developers will really regret their decision even more to leave Bayonetta out because she was considered to be with Dante as a paired unit in Project X Zone 2 but she was ultimately dropped.

They were idiots for doing that regardless of Dante being in this game, honestly.

That wasn't PXZ's devs fault. It was Hideki Kamiya who disallowed it. It helps to do a little research before you make these judgements.

I don't know if I recall correctly but Kamiya would give full support if Bayonetta was considered for a Project X Zone 3 if a third game will be made but the way PxZ2 ended, I don't think there'll be a third PxZ. Now speaking of PxZ, I hope Reiji or Xiaomu make it in and have a remixed version of Brave New World.

It isnt stupid.

He created the characters. He wants them to meet on his own terms. Capcom didnt want to be dicks so they obliged by his request.

Sorry he doesn't cater to your overeager fanboy requests i suppose

Yeah well if you think the devs were idiots for not being able to put someone else's IP in the game after they said no, that sounds like a personal problem.

Take off the edgelord blinders for one second.

that much has been apparent from the start

however its an established shtick of his to go into popular fighting game threads and post this sort of uninformed nonsense on game design, and then call everyone idiots for not agreeing with his point of view

If the whole "Kamiya doesn't wanna" reason is true, its stupid, because Bayonetta was more obscure than she deserved already, being such a cool character, there is no reason for the him to exclude her from a crossover, and if said reason isn't true, then the game's creators are too dumb to keep her out. I've seen no confirmation that Hideki Kamiya was the one thing on the way, though.

literally what the hell is keeping you from googling this yourself?

its true, and he wanted it to happen on his own terms, which he ofc now regrets. im not sure why you persist in saying things that are just flat out wrong, and say "youve seen no confirmation" when I found this in a minute.

as for why he would exclude her from a crossover at the time, maybe its, i dont know, having no real creative control over a game developed by an entirely different company ???

I hope this doesn't become his next thread where he starts doing this stuff long-term like in the SFV thread lol

That really gets into the heart of why Bond would be an odd fit: Bond, the character, doesn't really have a super strong connection to Nintendo, nor even the video game industry. It's just that a game based on a Bond movie happened to be an hugely important step forward for console FPSes, and it happened on a Nintendo console. If there was some way to make a character specifically of the game Goldeneye and divorce it from the character of James Bond, and of the Bond franchise, then that would probably fit pretty well in Smash. But alas, that's just a nonsensical idea. You can't make a character out of like, a social phenomenon surrounding a game. It'd have to be Bond himself, and that's wouldn't work either!

NEVERTHELESS! My brain is broken and immediately started thinking about what Bond would look like in Smash. I will thus present a BASIC CHARACTER CONCEPT/MOVELIST for one Commander James Bond, CMG, RNVR; Agent 007 for MI6:

neutral special: Quip
This opens up a menu like Hero's down special, allowing the player to build their very own Bond One Liner. The player has to pick between 4 options, each one half of a quip, and then after selecting the first half, they must again pick between 4 second-halves. For example, opening up the menu will first display the left menu only, and upon selecting an option, the right menu will then pop up (with the left one still remaining on screen):

the valid quip-half pairs in this instance (randomly chosen from dozens of possible one liners, whenever the menu is brought up) are: "And here I thought they were a cunning linguist", "Shocking, positively shocking", "I think they got the point", and "They always did have an inflated opinion of themself."

1 of those completed, valid One Liners will be a "correct" quip, and is based on the specific circumstances that are occurring or have just occurred in the course of gameplay, while the other 3 will be chosen randomly from a long list of one liners, as incorrect choices. Picking the correct quip will provide Bond with several buffs, including increased defense, increased resistance to being launched, increased attack power and range, etc. (nothing too major, of course), all of which can be stacked (to a certain limit) and persists until he loses a stock. The player will need to correctly pick out the appropriate one liner based on the situation (e.g, after an opponent has been hit by or KO'd via an electrical attack, the correct quip would be "Shocking. Positively shocking", whereas if the attack was from the Drill Arm item or something similar, the quip would be "I think they got the point."). Given the time it takes to navigate the menu, this move is best used after KO'ing someone, but it'll work whenever, as long as the correct option is selected. Picking a quip doesn't apply to the situation (but was nonetheless formed correctly from the respective matching half-quips) does nothing; a malformed quip made from a mismatching pair (like, say, "I think they got positively shocking"), however, will drop Bond down a level in his buffs, and will start negatively affecting his stats if he has no buffs left!

side special: PPK
Of course Bond would have his famous gun as a special! Just common sense! So yeah, it's a projectile, duh. Why is it a side special instead of a neutral special? Because I said so. It's a pretty powerful projectile, but he's only got 7 shots. A successful Quip will instantly reload it, though: just like in his movies, a suave and expert quip master of a Bond needn't worry too much about his ammo count.

up special: Jetpack
Sometimes the most obvious choice is the best choice. Extremely limited horizontal movement, but sends him decently high vertically. Perhaps he could then deploy the iconic UK flag parachute and greatly slow his fall until he lands (or falls off the edge of the screen), but maybe that's just gilding the lily. And/or potentially gamebreaking. But it would be cool, so.

down special: Proximity Mine
Gotta pay dues to Goldeneye and bring back the original Motion-Sensor Bomb. Works pretty much like Snake's down special (i.e., can remotely detonate it), but will also detonate if an opponent gets close to it. I guess it shouldn't do as much damage as Snake's because of this property!

Final Smash: Gunbarrel
Bond throws an mighty punch, launching any opponents hit by it into a grungy bathroom, where Bond slams them into various sinks and mirrors. Then, as they recover, the iconic Gunbarrel sequence that's in every Bond movie happens and Bond shoots them. Obviously this has got to be in there, and using the Casino Royale variant, where it's actually part of the narrative, just makes sense.

I dont feel like trying to bullshit every other attack, throw, taunts, smash attacks, etc. Just rest assured that there'd be tons of references to all sorts of gadgets and such that you'd want to see, like maybe an attack could involve one of his watches, like the one with a small circular saw in it, or the one that has a laser. Or he could have a tether recovery, using his rappelling belt gadget. Give him a Moonraker laser as a forward smash attack, or something. And maybe all 3 of his taunts could him be drinking different varieties of alcohol (a Vesper martini, a Heineken because that's the beer that's paying to be in Bond movies right now, etc.). And obviously, his up throw should be him forcing the opponent to swallow a compressed gas pellet, so that there's a Kanaga balloon for everyone.

wow i wasted way too much time on this
