i'm sorry if this is the wrong section to ask
but i wanted to rip some sprites out of a mame game

i've contacted R[e]ika and he gave me this specially compiled mame file

but it doesnt start up for me
can anyone give me a small step-by-step please?

ok.

unzip that file.
make a roms folder in the same folder you have the mame.
put the rom you want to rip inside the roms folder.
in windows go to start then run then type "cmd" whitout the quotes.

X) cd to the folder in which mame is.

type mame romname.

after that follow the instructions in the readme.

X takes longer to explain, google for commadn line navigating folders or something similar.

i got it started but
the buttons dont work

it crashes on left shift+ctrl+o
and the layers disabling have no effect

it's holding left shift plus the numbers on the rightside of the keyboard right?

the numbers are on the left side

don't know what does buttons don't work means. mame's default controls use the directinal arro and left ctrl and atl, you can press tab and change them.

shift ctrl o seem to crash mame because it takes control off the mame window and moves it to the command prompt you use to run mame.
