Mugen Resolution Issues

I am attempting to configure Mugen on my MAME cabinet.  I am using an arcade monitor via SOFT15KHZ...

When I attempt to run Mugen I get an error that essentially says "Can Not change video mode to 640x480".  The thing is,  I am attempting to run Mugen while the system is at 640x480.  My hypothesis is that because soft15khz limits the resolutions to 15khz compatible resolutions my 640x480 mode is running interlaced and Mugen is attempting to change to 640x480 progressive?!   The problem is that isn't gunna happen with my monitor.

Is there any way to make Mugen skip attempting to change resolution or is there a way to make Mugen run at 640x480 interlaced?

Thanks!

I just tried setting 320x240 mode via the cfg file... now it says CAN'T CHANGE VIDEO MODE 320x240x16bit...

Basically it's unable to change the freakin video mode even if it's already running in the video mode that it's attempting to change to?

EDIT: Evidently it's a DIRECT X thing because when I switch to NONE via the cfg file,  it works (albeit in a window and slow).

SO...is this a matter of Direct X not being installed on the PC (this PC was built specifically for MAME and uses DDRAW in mame as I am using it with an arcade monitor)?  I assumed Windows XP x64 had Direct X built-in?

All I can say is, what you're trying to do may actually not be possible without HACKING mugen.  But then again, I'm really not familiar with what you're trying to do... so I can't be much help.
Sometimes people's threads get left unanswered only because nobody has the right answers.  It's not because they don't care or can't be bothered or anything like that... alot of times the people here go way out of their way to help people out.

My suggestion, would be to contact somebody who knows alot about soft156khz.  Maybe there's a forum dedicated to this sort of thing and you can ask there.
Check me out.

Is there any way to run Mugen full screen non-windowed without Direct X?
