hello, This is a long read if you want to get a TL/DR version well pal, this isn't it....but!  to all who dare,... much power to you, hope you had coffee
and lets read on along...


I am fairly new to MUGEN/IKEMEN as a content creator,  but i have been around the times back in 2005, crazy world back then,
I have a legitimate question. why did people not commission your pixel art for mugen? back then???
there are a TON of things released on this platform over the years and it has a cult following.
so many talented people have made some really amazing things.
and rightfully so, mugen has some very crazy moments over the years. its like some dream match up.
even people just stumbling up on saltybets or youtube algorythm black hole you see mugen pop up from time to time.
people have put things out for free and i know that mugen itself is a engine. many people love the engine and its great.

i know we cant sell mugen complilations with music and sprites from other games...BUT!!!!

WHAT IF???....

you make a 1v1 fighting game with a stupid arcade run.

and at the end of the game its like a marriage proposal....IDK all of the sprite work and comission is a per user basis.

how much would you charge? and would you even fucking buy it??

chances are NO, but , what if you sell your creator service??
as a commission?  they create a small one on one fighting game
you create two pixel art characters all original but they get to design and work out gameplay with you.

you get paid money half on start and full payment when finished.
upon payment there would be a business agreement between two people and thats it done.

if they decide to release it online or whatever and "share" your work thats up to them.
they place the money up front for whenever someone commissions it for however much it cost and you charge the money.
( now this right here is a whole other fucking bag of shit and a headache by itself already) but on average like what if you create things like a lot of content creators here....like this is just an idea what if????

you offered this service to them and how much it would cost and is it even fucking legal to do so??
on top of that you take the time to sprite and animate which already by itself is a pain in the ass to do.
but, we love games so we trudge on. right????

look, the reason i am asking is legitimately

can you do this and if yes, then why have other content creators do this more often??

making things in mugen is already a pain in the ass but why not make something out of it?

with being a content creator why wouldn't you sell your pixel art?
with that i mean like can you even just straight up sell your sprite work online?....
i am legit curious as to why others don't adopt this as a standard??

lets say you tell someone hey" i will pay whatever crypto currency or whatever choice and i will sprite edit you a character

heres my sprite work and prototype blah blah blah blah.....
can you even do it in something you can show off and be like hey....i am a sprite artist and i can code characters in this weird ass game engine that uses a language that doesn'tr eally make sense but its well documented, iI an create you a shitty rip off of a ( insert __________ character name with godawful gameplay  and design here)

the select screen is basically the mutant hit list and the characters you select are the ones in front of the spotlight.

its an idea i had for a select screen kicking around in my head and  i need help making this real.---

does anyone here have expeirence with arcade stick PCB

my old controller started to break down and i figured i could salvage the PCB and throw it into an old arcade stick shell i have lying around to make it wireless for mugen.

does anyone have a good diagram for me to find out where the solder points are and if its common ground?

so im coding a new move for my personal WIP.

as far as a ground bounce move i want the effect of MVC 3 sentinel jumping S.

the giant claw. the frying pan,  SENTINAAAL! as yipes would put it,

his frying pan poke is the most fun ever and also made gim god tier in MVC 2 and 3.

im thinking is i would code this jumping heavy punch into a custom state??

like its a throw but its coded like a hit??

or am i wrong is there some easier way to do this?

like KFM wall bounce but coded with up and down values instead of X or Y?

am i stupid?

HELLO MUGEN GUILD IM BACK AGAIN WITH ANOTHER QUESTION

i need help coding a character

imagine war machine with his shoulder cannon.

the shoulder cannon is actually a helper that you summon when a button is pressed and held.

pressing the button will shoot 4 rounds in the direction you press.
holding the button down war machine switches to a shooting state in where he can shoot his shoulder cannon in 8 directions  but holding down the
 shoot button  will shoot continuously.

and as i said in the air it should be shooting in 8 directions.


so i would have to code the same helper 8 times in each direction. right?

also i would like to know how balanced do you think that sounds?? as im just messing around with mugen to build my own personal MVC game.

i have some helpers as a projectile that floats around kinda like striders oroboros but at the moment it can get hit by projectiles and makes clones.

how do i make it to so the projectile helper does not get hit at all ?

i have a cinematic super I am thinking of coding.

i know how to use a custom hurt state in mugen now and was wondering how to scale p2 smaller during certain frames??

I have seen other mugen characters use this for their cinematic supers i was wondering on how that was achieved?

i use VLC media player to take screenshots of the video its free and really useful.

it has a step button so you can take a screenshot for each frame and then you can take those screenshots to an image editing program like GIMP or photoshop to resize them all to scale.

i also use a batch convertion to make things go a bit faster

like for example
batman to superman you show batman putting on the kryptonite ring.

or another is like when deadpool meets a character he can say something about the character or play a soundbyte from yourtube or something??

basically i need help with 2 things

i want a maximum spider style super where the character can track his opponent across the screen BUT can be blocked and is severely risky on block.
how do i make mugen know how to track a player??


like p1 will jump into the wall for a couple of ticks then he jumps off and tracks p2?

and when p2 gets hit i want p2 to go into a custom state in the center of the screen and as p1 flying around p2 hitting him p2 is in a custom state spinning around while getting webbed up.

so basically i got the move to somewhat work.
but it only works once and i have to reset the round in order to make the move work again.
i think its the variables that making it not work like its checking it off at first but the variables ardent in the character so it works once then done.

i read what variables do and still fucking confused a.f as to how it works.
