I was just really sad.
Just continue to do what you enjoy doing. If you wanna make more stuff, make more stuff. If you wanna take a break from that kinda thing, take a break. Find your bliss, and don't worry about stuff like this or previous threads.

I would really suggest that you use the time you've been given from your latest ban to think over your actions. Enjoy the next two weeks!

I gotta ask, based on the timing of this thread: did the Character of the Month stuff prompt this? Because it's really not a big deal at all, it's just a new thing we're trying to incentivize people to avoid making the same careless mistakes being made every month.

It's really not a big deal, or anything you need to worry about!

It's funny how people think about that it ends. Wait until next year.
Stop posting in this thread. Take your obsession with MUGEN dying elsewhere.

In this thread you will be nominating characters from the month of September 2019 that you believe are worthy to be recognized as Character of the Month. These nominations last until October 21st.

Read these rules and guidelines.

Every couple of days a list will be created and updated to feature the nominations progress. The list will include: Who's a candidate and how many motions other characters have. If twenty candidates are reached before the 15 days are up, then voting will start early.

- Only nominate up to 4 characters
- Read the thread
- The numbers next to each nomination represent each character's current nominations
- Only 3 nominations are necessary for each character

PLEASE BE AWARE that due to the incessant, absurd number of users who find themselves unable to read and follow the rules of these threads, we have instituted a new feature:

The Speedpreacher Penalty Box

Users who refuse to follow the very simple guidelines that we have set forward will find themselves in the Penalty Box, and will have their nominations for this month null and void. They will have to wait until next month to nominate anything! So take care, and don't get put in the Penalty Box!!!

i've had dreams about people not following the rules. terrible dreams. and just like this guy's dream... it keeps coming true...

He still was contracted for 2 more Spider-Man movies (but they would've been Sony-only), and he's also in a lot of other stuff right now. His career would've been fine! If this story is real, he was coming from a place of passion for playing the character, not just looking out for himself career-wise (I'm sure it factored in somewhat, though!)

I'll say option two, ya'll tripping, too many damn marvel movies :p
Maaaaaaaaaaaaan

Disney loves self-mythologizing! They made a whole movie about this same kinda thing but for Mary Poppins, and that was all fabricated to make Disney look great! >:[

Well, here's something else to chew on: apparently after the initial talks fell apart, it really did look completely dead and both sides seemed like they were gonna walk away for good... until Tom Holland campaigned hard for Disney and Sony to work it out, personally and repeatedly checking in with the heads of Disney and Sony respectively to help grease the wheels.

Probably the most in-depth exploration of what was happening during all this craziness, but... doesn't it seem almost too over the top, in a way. Like if Disney was making a movie out of this situation (one like Saving Mr. Banks, which kinda sorta is about the same type of thing), they'd add in a completely fabricated plotline about Tom Holland being the deciding factor in getting all this worked out? And that plot line would climax in Holland delivering a long monologue to the chairman of Sony's film division about the importance of heroes and stories, or some shit, and then pulling out a Spider-Man mask, placing it on the chairman's desk, and leaving, and then the chairman would stare and consider it for several seconds before making a phone call, or something?

... or maybe I'm just crazy and my brain is melting!

One of the reasons why I like the pairing so much: those two both talk mad shit about how awesome and powerful they are, and yet both are constantly getting punked by normal ass dudes with swords or whips.

Or sometimes both.

Having a holy weapon doesn't really mean jack; it's gotta be the Vampire Killer or bust. Lots of characters have holy weapons in Castlevania, or are capable of wielding holy magic, but it just isn't enough. If it ain't powered by the soul of a human who was transforming into a vampire, it isn't the perfect weapon to kill vampires, especially not the ones who are otherwise immortal like Walter and later Dracula!

Well....then at least Ganondorf's Triforce piece should be enough to demolish Hyrule, considering its power source is the raw power the Goddesses used in making it to begin with.  Forget if they mean the planet, the continent or the kingdom, but regardless I'm imagining that much is in Ganon's favor.
This is one of those things where the text repeatedly makes wild claims like this, but the character never comes even remotely close to displaying even a fraction of that power. That's why it really only makes sense to compare actual, concrete feats.

Next battle seems....exceedingly one-sided once again?  Admittingly, a really cool match, I look forward to seeing it just because of the character parallels, but come on.  So once again I suppose they'll make it seem more close a match-up, but Dracula can not kill Ganondorf, numerous people can kill Dracula without any real special tools, there are just those that are more affective.
Not... really. At least not anymore (all those weird sidegames where various non-Belmont protagonists manage to kill Dracula are a grey area), after IGA took over and straightened out the continuity into something somewhat coherent. Dracula very specifically can only be killed by a Belmont wielding the Vampire Killer, or someone wielding his own power against him (e.g., Alucard or Shanoa using the Dominus glyph). The last mainline, non-Lords of Shadow Castlevania was pretty clear about that. Presumably the non-Belmont supporting characters like Sypha, Eric, Charlotte, etc. can help to wear Dracula down, but are incapable of delivering a killing blow and keeping him from just regenerating everything. And even then he'll just come back in a 100 years or less, somewhat like Gannondorf.

I honestly don't know who has the edge here; while both characters are described as having near limitless power (Dracula is essentially the straight up devil in the world of Castlevania: king of all monsters and demons and is even considered to be God's opposite by the crazy cult from Dawn of Sorrow) that nonetheless doesn't seem to translate that much to what they show off in-game. Perhaps its better to take all that talk of Ganon and Dracula having unlimited physical and or magical power as mere poetic license.

Quips are incredibly vital part of the Bond canon, even in the most serious of them, he'll drop at least one of em! It just wouldn't make sense to give him a moveset that doesn't reflect this!!! :yeses:

But how did you manage that entire character breakdown and not once mention the karate chop?  It obviously must be the mandatory neutral A attack.
Well, obviously! So obvious that I didn't need to mention it, nor did I even think of it!

Well, the Goldeneye 64 bomb was an item to use in Smash 64, tounge-in-cheek referenced as such saying it came from a top secret origin, so clearly it was on the table at SOME point.  But understandable why it was retracted.  It wasn't even a video game specific James Bond made just for the game, a new one carrying the title, it was Pierce Brosnan recreating the movie.
That really gets into the heart of why Bond would be an odd fit: Bond, the character, doesn't really have a super strong connection to Nintendo, nor even the video game industry. It's just that a game based on a Bond movie happened to be an hugely important step forward for console FPSes, and it happened on a Nintendo console. If there was some way to make a character specifically of the game Goldeneye and divorce it from the character of James Bond, and of the Bond franchise, then that would probably fit pretty well in Smash. But alas, that's just a nonsensical idea. You can't make a character out of like, a social phenomenon surrounding a game. It'd have to be Bond himself, and that's wouldn't work either!

NEVERTHELESS! My brain is broken and immediately started thinking about what Bond would look like in Smash. I will thus present a BASIC CHARACTER CONCEPT/MOVELIST for one Commander James Bond, CMG, RNVR; Agent 007 for MI6:

neutral special: Quip
This opens up a menu like Hero's down special, allowing the player to build their very own Bond One Liner. The player has to pick between 4 options, each one half of a quip, and then after selecting the first half, they must again pick between 4 second-halves. For example, opening up the menu will first display the left menu only, and upon selecting an option, the right menu will then pop up (with the left one still remaining on screen):

the valid quip-half pairs in this instance (randomly chosen from dozens of possible one liners, whenever the menu is brought up) are: "And here I thought they were a cunning linguist", "Shocking, positively shocking", "I think they got the point", and "They always did have an inflated opinion of themself."

1 of those completed, valid One Liners will be a "correct" quip, and is based on the specific circumstances that are occurring or have just occurred in the course of gameplay, while the other 3 will be chosen randomly from a long list of one liners, as incorrect choices. Picking the correct quip will provide Bond with several buffs, including increased defense, increased resistance to being launched, increased attack power and range, etc. (nothing too major, of course), all of which can be stacked (to a certain limit) and persists until he loses a stock. The player will need to correctly pick out the appropriate one liner based on the situation (e.g, after an opponent has been hit by or KO'd via an electrical attack, the correct quip would be "Shocking. Positively shocking", whereas if the attack was from the Drill Arm item or something similar, the quip would be "I think they got the point."). Given the time it takes to navigate the menu, this move is best used after KO'ing someone, but it'll work whenever, as long as the correct option is selected. Picking a quip doesn't apply to the situation (but was nonetheless formed correctly from the respective matching half-quips) does nothing; a malformed quip made from a mismatching pair (like, say, "I think they got positively shocking"), however, will drop Bond down a level in his buffs, and will start negatively affecting his stats if he has no buffs left!

side special: PPK
Of course Bond would have his famous gun as a special! Just common sense! So yeah, it's a projectile, duh. Why is it a side special instead of a neutral special? Because I said so. It's a pretty powerful projectile, but he's only got 7 shots. A successful Quip will instantly reload it, though: just like in his movies, a suave and expert quip master of a Bond needn't worry too much about his ammo count.

up special: Jetpack
Sometimes the most obvious choice is the best choice. Extremely limited horizontal movement, but sends him decently high vertically. Perhaps he could then deploy the iconic UK flag parachute and greatly slow his fall until he lands (or falls off the edge of the screen), but maybe that's just gilding the lily. And/or potentially gamebreaking. But it would be cool, so.

down special: Proximity Mine
Gotta pay dues to Goldeneye and bring back the original Motion-Sensor Bomb. Works pretty much like Snake's down special (i.e., can remotely detonate it), but will also detonate if an opponent gets close to it. I guess it shouldn't do as much damage as Snake's because of this property!

Final Smash: Gunbarrel
Bond throws an mighty punch, launching any opponents hit by it into a grungy bathroom, where Bond slams them into various sinks and mirrors. Then, as they recover, the iconic Gunbarrel sequence that's in every Bond movie happens and Bond shoots them. Obviously this has got to be in there, and using the Casino Royale variant, where it's actually part of the narrative, just makes sense.

I dont feel like trying to bullshit every other attack, throw, taunts, smash attacks, etc. Just rest assured that there'd be tons of references to all sorts of gadgets and such that you'd want to see, like maybe an attack could involve one of his watches, like the one with a small circular saw in it, or the one that has a laser. Or he could have a tether recovery, using his rappelling belt gadget. Give him a Moonraker laser as a forward smash attack, or something. And maybe all 3 of his taunts could him be drinking different varieties of alcohol (a Vesper martini, a Heineken because that's the beer that's paying to be in Bond movies right now, etc.). And obviously, his up throw should be him forcing the opponent to swallow a compressed gas pellet, so that there's a Kanaga balloon for everyone.

wow i wasted way too much time on this

SAVE AND QUIT
Your reign is over old man. Rest in peace.
No no no, it works like Zelda, where all your progress right before you died is saved, then the game ends. It's not like when you open up that save game again you just see Link's dead body or something!
