I really like seeing your sprites Pin, but I feel that while they're great they're not exactly CvS styled. The main problems being the palettes as well as the shading.

Dragoon, his palette is way too dark. It looks like it could be more in line with SF3 sprites, or really it's own style. The shading is also a problem. Personally, I dont think the beads and the hands need to have four colors. This causes it to eat up the palette limits, and really there's a way to make them look good without multiple colors. I know that people dont really follow the 16 color rule, but its always good for practice.

It's always best to look at official sprites to compare. Here's Yun. His pants only have three colors, and his hat has two. Without too much detail, they still look fine.


Another is Terry, he doesnt have four shades on all parts of his body, only the jeans. And he still looks fine.


Another one is Bison. Whenever you wanna shade metal, its best to look at Bison's shinguards/shoulder parts.


While I did notice you share colors (the metal parts and the arms/legs), because the metal parts are so dark, it makes the arms and legs look dark as well. Overdetailing is also another factor, It's notable on the parts that are black.

Like I mentioned above, it's always best to look at the official sprites to get a grasp at how it should look. CvS sprites are never hugely detailed like that, while SF3 sprites are. It looks nice! But if you want this to look in style, you need to detail less.

Because I am bad with words, here's my quick edit.


Another with 16 colors, since the quick fix is 19 colors.

Because of personal issues, family problems, money, and schooling, I will be inactive for a while. I wish I could stick around to finishing Axel Stone and helping out with Android 17, but due to the amount of things going on I dont have the time to work on them.

Here's a concept for the sword super, inspired a bit by how Project X Zone attacks are.


I am obliged to call it "Dub Slash".

Hello, I've decided to pick up on Sean's Axel Stone. I plan to polish some sprites, as well as adding my own. Here are some WIP examples;


Stance (I'm not very good with stances, this will be redone)


Crouch and light kick


New crouching heavy kick


Axel will have some moves you all remember, as well as a few ones that are original. Majority of his stuff will be based on Streets of Rage 2, but I will try to put in stuff from all three games. Axel will also be a six button character, with double inputs and EX moves.

Unique Moves:

Backhand punch - F.HP
Axel turns around and smacks the opponent with his knuckles. Two hits

Bare Knuckle - HP while running
A weaker version of Grand Upper. Only does one hit

Target Combo 1 - S.LP S.LP S.MP S.HK S.HK

Target Combo 2 - S.LP S.LP S.MP F.HP (Bare Knuckle does two hits now)

Specials:
Grand Upper - QCF + Punch
Axel's signature move. Each version adds one hit, and goes further.

Dragon Wing - DP + Punch
Another one of Axel's iconic moves; a spinning dragon punch.

Going Straight - QCF + Kick
Axel performs a dash which gives him a bit of invulnerablity. Light travels the least amount of distance, Medium further, but Heavy is a fakeout which leads to a punch




Criminal Takedown - QCB + Punch, Kick, Kick
A rekka styled move, Axel beats down his foe with swift brutality. Last hit will sweep


Item pickup - DD + Kick
Axel picks up a random item. Similar to Pheonix Wright's "Investigate" move. Items Axel can pick up; Apple, Turkey, Pipe, Knife. Weapons can be used five times before "breaking", immediately dropped when hit.

POSSIBLE MOVES

Fuze Counter
Axel gets in a ready position and when attacked, flips over the opponent and suplexes.

Throw
I want Axel's throw to be true to SOR. When grabbed, the player should have the option to punch, or knee the opponent during a short period of time, before the throw ends with a headbutt. Not sure if this is possible in Mugen, but Skullgirls has a character named Beowulf that can do this.

I dont know why, but I pictured Axel throwing trashcans at the opponent, revealing items he can grab. I'm leaning on the side of "this is a little strange", but if people like the idea, I'll consider adding it.

Super Moves:

Calling All Cars - QCFQCF + Punch
Axel summons the police car, as they blast the arena with a rocket


Super 2 - Nothing planned, but I want something involving the weapon mechanic of SOR.

[Level 3] Final Crash - QCBQCB + Punch
A eight hitting barrage of punches, followed by two spinning hooks and ending with a more powerful version of the Dragon Wing. First hit has to connect in order for the super to continue.

I dont have the sheet, only resources I have is what he posted in the topic. Unless someone has it, or someone's able to get a hold of it i'll have to make some stuff myself (which is sadly....almost everything...)

After playing Streets of Rage a couple days, I suddenly had the thought of picking up Sean Altly's Axel. It's too good to just leave in the dark! I've made another revisioned sprite before (which was CvS' Jin) but I feel Axel would be easier to handle. I'll wait a bit until I get more animations done to make a topic for him, but I've got most of his moveset planned out.
