Just a quick suggestion in regards to the vacuum move. Make it so that the enemy sprite gets smaller the closer they get to the vacuum when they get sucked in. Then when they get shot out of the vacuum, the enemy sprite is small then becomes big (basically the same as being sucked in but in reverse).

It just normally looks weird how the full sized sprite goes in and out of the vacuum even though that's probably would happen normally.

This character looks fun, btw.

If they really wanted a cool and gruesome character for the next roster then I say 'Bring on 'Pumpkin Night'!"

I would totally love to see her in this game. Pretty much every one of her moves would be a fatality or a brutality.

I would LOVE to see a Darkstalkers/Nightwarriors game in 3d! That franchise is begging for updated makeover.

Maybe you could add a cool system so that when you hit your opponent with enough damage, zenny coins pop out of them and, when you pick them up, they add to your super meter. However, the coins can disappear quickly so that there is no guarantee that your super meter will always fill too quickly.

Just an idea...

I would have the second KO animation to blend into the first KO animation or maybe the other way around. It depends on how you animate the KO as it appears on the screen at the end of the round (like scaling) but both are good so that is why I think that one should blend into the other somehow.

start messing around with animation and also doing some studying on animation more. but i also notice i should of went in got some more reference and using a stick base reference to help with fluid posing. any pointers?

1) Remember to consider ease in/ease out in some of your movements.
2) Some muscles and joints affect other parts of the body EG punching motions affects movement in the back, shoulder and chest muscles and joints, too.
3) Try doing the move yourself in real life or even just specific poses if it is a difficult move to do in real life. Be aware of what happens to your body that you may not consider when you animate by eye.
4) Sometimes an extra frame or two adds to a better motion.
5) Consider adding "motion blur" in motions that are really fast.

Hope this is useful.

Good luck!

TADAH!

When you are animating or creating the roughs, a good practice is to pay attention to specific parts of the animation so you can find what needs to be fixed. For example, her right foot seems to change volume throughout the animation. Even with the perspective change, it shouldn't look like that. Yeah, I realise that since it will be shrunk down to sprite size that it might not be noticable but this is a good practice to take up in general in regards to animation. You will find that focusing on 'volume' rather than 'lines' will improve your work. Working in 3d and/or sculpting (in clay) is a good practice to take up if you want to improve your drawing skills because you will get a better idea of volume but that is really something optional and up to you.

There are other tricks you could pick up that could help you with your skills such as watching real life footage of various actions and motions which will give you a better idea of timing, even if it is not exactly video of what you want to animate EG a video of someone throwing a punch but not the exact punch you want to animate but it will give you a better idea of the timing. This also helps in regards to what the rest of the body would do when a punch is thrown and not just how the arm would bend.

There are always tons of tricks and cheats you can pick up to improve your skills, in general, but you need to put work into what you want to achieve.

Anyway, that was just a little useful advice.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,

May I suggest that if you give samples of effects, that you create a GIF within context IE showing someone firing the fireball or getting hit by it or even just next to a character so we have something to compare to. If you just want to show the effect by itself then it would be better to have a black background (especially if it is an additive 'light' effect or animate the effect against a normal game background.

This will just give us a better idea of how it will look in game.

The sprite work looks pretty good. The animation seems a bit clunky and linear, though. Add some more sprites (ease in and ease out sprites) to make your character flow more smoothly. Trust me, he'll look more sexier when the animation flows more naturally.

Aw, crap! Someone beat me to the trailer...

Anyway, Venom looks good. Maybe they could have done more with the eyes like added a slight texture or something. Not a big fan of the Venom voice, though. It doesn't sound as beastly as it comes off as it's written in the comics. I hope they at least give us a glimpse at the other symbiotes in the movie, though.

Yea man I heard the movie version did some really weird changes and was generally just not for people who aren't fans of the series
I haven't watched it yet but I hope it ends up aight

Yeah, well they kind of had to considering the length of the series, how they would tie all the condensed stories together and to make it more movie-worthy. Some concepts in the Jojo-verse would just be too weird for your standard movie audience so they probably toned some of that stuff, too.

I managed to watch the live action Jojo movie a couple of days ago. The effects and Stands were great but I had a few issues with other aspects of the movie, especially the laboriously slow pacing. I won't go into the other issues, though. Watch the movie yourselves and I'm sure you'll have your own opinions about it.

I will say this, though, it is always hard to get an anime or manga to translate to a live action movie well, especially when it comes to more fantasy-like elements or silly designs.

In regards to Griffon's intro, it might look better that she threw her umbrella off screen at the end instead of putting it away behind her back. It sort of looks weird because where does she keep the umbrella/parasol?
Maybe the character can have the umbrella as part of her design?

Just my thoughts.

WTF did they do to V.rosso's design?! Why did they have to expose his abs like some sort of effeminate anime trope?

He now joins the ranks of Benimaru and Polnareff in the 'Bare Abs Squad'.

Not happy...
