Bayonetta (PC)

I'd always had an interest in this game, but heard the PS3 version was hot garbage. I recently upgraded to a reasonably capable laptop, so I finally decided to give it a go, and it is glorious! It's so fluid and stylish, with that cheesy anime flare that manages to not get too hokey.

It's actually making me want to give DMC4 another try...

Assassin's Creed: Origins

This is the first Assassin's Creed game to grab my attention since 3 destroyed any hope I had for the series. It's one of the best open world games I've played in a while, and the ancient Egypt setting is incredible.

The story kinda dragged on a bit, but it was a fun ride al the way through.

You can go straight to 4 without playing the previous games, but you will not have a full understanding of kratos' motives behind certain actions and his relationship with his son.
Kratos' motivations in the original trilogy really weren't that deep. He's trying to kill Zeus because he betrayed him out of fear. He's killing everyone else because they're in his way. That's pretty much it.

Quote
there are some characters from the previous games are referenced in 4, significant "things" are brought back to symbolize a certain aspect of kratos, and kratos' 180 character shift is directly related to something that has happened in gow 3 "the cycle".

I can think of one person that maaay be cause for concern, but he calls them by name and just Youtubing GOW3's ending will help with that. Everything else is explained thoroughly enough IMO. He'll be fine.

the son's probably one of theirs and is the heir to the Greek Pantheon.  Though I'd like to see what they'll do if that's incorrect.

You are very wrong lol.  :)

What would you say to someone who has never played the series, just viewed its rise and fall in popularity from the other side of the console gap, but wants to see what the big deal is with this game being apparently game of the year?  The first three just never seemed worth the hype they were getting without playing them.  Which is I'm sure a similar feeling to Halo over on the 360 for those stuck to the PS3, but my closest comparison is Devil May Cry and Dante's Inferno, and neither blew my mind. (Unless you want to stretch Kingdom Hearts to being comparable, but they seem too different in gameplay to me)

This one though the setting does very much catch my interest, and the father/son dynamic sounds much more engaging than mad dad getting revenge.  Is it worth just skipping the first three?  I can pretty much already gather what the big plot points were just from internet osmosis.

As Speedpreacher said, the game brings you up to speed on most of the relevant details, so I'd say go for it.

If I had to compare it to other games games, it feels more like a cross between Darksiders 2 and Dark Souls, than anything Devil May Cry related.

God of War

Barring Ascension, I loved all of the previous God of War games. After 3, though, I was a little burnt out. Thankfully this new entry takes things in a very different direction. Kratos has gone from an angry hunk of muscle to a relatable father, struggling both to forget his past while raising his son. The game is absolutely filled with ambient dialog, helping to flesh out the relationship between Kratos and Atreus.

Gameplay-wise, the reboot takes a fresh new turn for the series. While the introduction of RPG-like stats are a bit unnecessary in my opinion, the changes are generally for the better. It requires more thought, feels even more visceral,  and has more variety than the previous games.

It goes without saying, but the game is absolutely gorgeous. Sony Santa Monica has once again put their technical mastery on full display here. The sheer amount of detail is simply unreal.

If you like character driven, challenging action games be sure to pick this up. It's damn near perfect.

Assassin's Creed: Origins

Until now, I hadn't gone anywhere near AssCreed since 3 rubbed me pretty severely in the wrong way. After seeing some vids, and hearing that the side quests have a bit more substance, I decided to give it a go (plus a had $30 in Amazon bucks laying around).

I... am rather pleasantly surprised! The game controls well, combat is much, MUCH better and the side activities are actually engaging. It also helps quite a bit that I haven't had to tail anyone, but we'll see if I escape that completely. Ancient Egypt is a very interesting setting, as well.

I'm loving it!

Use a variable, and add 1 to it every time your character teleport.

Can you show me example how to do that?

Sorry for the late reply, I've been a little busy.

In your teleport state you'll need a varadd so:

Code:
[State 1000, Counter]
type = varadd
trigger1 = !time
v = 2
value = 1

What this controller does is add 1 to var(2) as soon as the teleport is initiated.

In your cmd for the move you should have:

Code:
[State -1, Teleport]
type = changestate
triggerall = Var(2) < 5
*insert your other triggers etc here*

So as long as var(2) is less than 5 (the number of teleports you wish to allow) the teleport will trigger.

The method JNP described is similar in principle, but the varadd would be replaced with:

Code:
[State 1000, Teleport_Count]
type = Explod
trigger1 = !time
anim = -1
postype = p1
id = 101
pos = 0,0
removetime = -1

And your cmd state would be

Code:
[State -1, Teleport]
type = changestate
triggerall = numexplod(101) < 5
*insert your other triggers etc here*

Use a variable, and add 1 to it every time your character teleport. In the cmd use var(n) < 5 as one of the triggeralls, where n is whichever  number you decided to use.

Ok, so I made a few changes recently.

Added an effect for his teleport to make it more authentic.
Added ground bounce to strong attack if it hits the enemy in the air
Reigned in the damage a bit and added a dampener
Some fine tuning and other minor adjustments

Thanks, man. Yeah, those effects are definitely coming. He's missing quite a few of them right now lol. Regarding the movie voices, however, I'm not so sure. If I can do it in a way that doesn't break the flow of gameplay, then maybe.

I've added 2 new special moves to Broli: God Slayer and Gigaton Thrust. They're both command grabs, with God Slayer being ground based while Gigaton Thrust is aerial.

Here's a vid of them both in a combo (ignore the damage).

GT will allow you to throw your opponent either in front or behind you. I'm planning to give it follow up where Broli stomps them while they're on the ground as well, at the cost of some meter.

Also here's a palette template for anyone that's interested. I'm not a fan of palette selectors so I'll probably just choose the ones I like the most.

My mother became ill literally the week after getting her ACA coverage. Luckily for her, they covered the overwhelming majority of her $80,000 bill. Plenty of other people with cancer and other horrible diseases depend on it or they would be up a creek without a paddle, otherwise. He doesn't care though. Instead trying to fix what's wrong this asshole is intentionally fucking everything up.

Since the tax returns were brought up, Donald Trump is NOT a private citizen. Every Presidential candidate going back decades has revealed their tax returns. First he said they were under audit and that he couldn't release them
That's a lie. There's no law prohibiting the release of the returns while they're being audited. Let's assume he meant he would prefer to do so after for his own peace of mind. He still hasn't done it. Insisting no one cares. He says it over and over until people seemingly give up. I don't trust politicians, and I don't trust corporate business men either. I think he's hiding something.

Wow, it's been so long since I've done one of these lol. It's been a while since I've touched MUGEN, period, in fact. In any event, welcome to my first serious WIP in 5 years: The Legendary Super Saiyan - Broli.

I'm using the Extreme Butouden sprite set, which is a bit limited, but I see it more as a challenge than a hurdle.

He'll use 4 buttons:

a = teleport
b = ki attack
x = weak attack
y = strong attack

To add a bit of flavor, additional low level attacks are mainly command normals instead of chaining from repeatedly pressing a single button like the source game. I'm also aiming for combos to be based more on juggles than chains.

Sample vid

At the moment his juggle system is extremely lenient as I try to figure out what works, and what needs to be tightened up a bit. As far as what's still missing:

A hand full of required sprites (I didn't miss doing these at all lol)
3 additional special moves
Wall splat, wall bounce and ground bounce system
Super moves
Defense systems
Properly scaled hitsparks
Sounds and effects
Intros/win poses

Well, there you have it. I'll be working on him during my off-time so it might take a while to finish, but I'm having a lot of fun getting back into MUGEN.
