Hey everyone. Here are some progress on Ultimate X Skills. I have finished the spriting part for now and now will move on to Zero for finishing details. Expect a Beta release for both around this weekend!

Update



Playing a bit with spriting and put up something similar to Copy X Ultimate Armor. Regarding this. It will be use as a special move with the Famous Nova Strike. Not planning so far to make a full sheet out of this. Too much work hehe.  Any opinion about it, please feel free to.

Some feedback on Ultimate X as shown on the video:

-I feel like the mega buster super on 0:41 should knock down the opponent after getting hit by it. With that amount of damage, that should felt like
-Zero should have a teleport disappearing animation after successfully executing the super on 0:59 instead of vanishing into thin air.

Overall, he's looking great. Can't wait for the beta. :)

Couldn't believe getting a mail to inform me this project is still alive.

What also suprised me was the shoryuken special which is performed with zero, because you planned making Ultimate Zero too.
As I can see you will be using mostly projectile specials I guess? Will you implement some sort of handicap to make sure the enemys won't be dying in a bullet rain?

Can't wait for new updates. Keep us on track and welcome back Bluecross! : )

Hehe yeah it's been long but i'm back. About X.. He has some melee combat when close to the opponent so it's not all bullets and stuff. Both Cross Charge Shot and the Shoryuken are inspired from Project X Zone. Thank you for the welcome!

Ohh :o I like these edits, specially the upslash and intro. I'm planning of adding Zero's Ultimate Form as a reference to Omega Zero so i would love to use them and, of course, i'll give you credit :)

Hey guys. A little update on the project:

Ultimate Zero

Zero's is coming along nice. Not much has been done with him since he's almost complete in term of gameplay. Cosmetics stuff, Fixing some FX and a little here and over there. In terms of System, his Form System is near complete with the expcetion of the Special Modes (Original Zero and Proto Zero) Which some testing need to be done to avoid cheapness.

Original X

Most of the work is on Original X right now since it was a late adding to the project. As you may have seen in the second video, his basic sprites are all done. His buster attacks are all coded except for Wall Buster attack and Walking Buster Attack. The primary concept of X's Skills is based in 3 game incarnation (Megaman X4 to X6). Im planning of adding the most useful attacks from those games. For the moment the palettes are done and more are in development.



They are based in the color palette of the X games.

The first one is the sprite with the colors separated. the rest is the in game palette that will appear.

Buster Shot Yeah!

X has his Basic and required sprites done. Whats left is to do his basic attacks. So far Standing Buster, Walking Buster, Mid air Buster Shot and Charge Buster Shot are done! Video Preview Soon!

Jeez, that looks pretty damn good! Normally not a big fan of MUGEN characters that play less like a fighter, but this all looks really well done.

As you can see the base is from Zero but there are differences in some movements and stuff. For the moment, All basic movements are done, and an intro. Missing damage sprites and basic attacks. Will get that done over the week! This will be a dual project. Ill be working with both Zero and X.

Hi! Here are some minor updates!

EX Skill Kuogenjin (Mirage Blade)


Skill from Megaman Zero 2. A wave Slash attack.

EX Skill Zaneidan (Ice Throw Blade)


Skill from Megaman Zero 3. An ice version of Kuogenjin. This travels further and may freeze the opponent.

Proto Form


Proto Form works like in game. It only allows the Boomerang Shield to be charged. It has its power increase but the defense is lowered. Can only use the first slash of the saber while equiped. All weapons are boosted.

Ultimate Form/Original Zero Form


This form works like its in game counterpart. All charge attacks are done by command input. Power and defense are increased a bit. All weapon are boosted. This form will be work a lot to make it an unique mode.

Third on the support, good luck on this. Recoil Rod and Shield look very interesting and fun to use. Brings so much nostalgia when I played Mega Man Zero 3 on my GBA SP years ago.

Also, I hope you put Chain Rod as one of the weapons as well.

They sure are. There are still things to add to those weapons so expect more!

The reason why the Chain Rod isn't selectable is 'cause im going to fuse it with the Spear Rod. They both have the same charge attack so it will be an extension of the Spear instead of a standalone weapon.

Hi all! Back a few years i started the thread of Ultimate Zero but due to difficult things with college and stuff i left it only in beta state. Now, i came back again to retake this project but with some notable differences.

First let's start with the Systems implemented

Forms System

 


Yes! As you can see im using SvC Chaos Sprites with CvS palette colors. This way, Zero can be a match for any opponent.
The image above shows us the Form System. If you played Megaman Zero 2, you'll see that Zero has some Forms that allow him to do certain skills, abilities and Stats distribution as well. This here does the same; of course by Mugen Standars, it has been nerfed in terms of power and defense provided. There is a total of 10 Forms available while 2 of them are not meant to be accesed in normal conditions. Each of them has their own abilities and Stats. Can only be selected on the first round and it will stick with it till the end of the match.

Menu System



The menu System comes again but this time with a much Stylish design, able to preview the next weapon. Saber, Recoil Rod, Spear Rod, Boomerang Shield and Z/K Knuckle are available to use. See video for showcase!

Custom Sprites and Stuff



Some Sprites were missing from the original game that zero comes. The Recoil Rod, mostly, was the weapon that didnt make its appearence. So i had to make some custom sprites, with the base of the Handheld game.

Some are original, for the example, the Rekkouha or Mesenkou was made using  editing. Sorry forgot to show it in the video :P

The shield was remodeled a lot. You can witness the changes in the video up.

New EX Skills

    

Gokumonken is a counter skill from the Megaman X8 game. Zero will block shots and special attacks and, when hit bit physical attacks, it will release another skill called Juuhazan, unguardable!

Other Skills like Senpuukyaku and Shoryuken are implemented as well. See video!

Having a knock-up(C) isn't useful if she can't follow it up.  At the minute she can't-she has no 'pursuit' and only a single jump where in the base game he had a double-jump or at least a high jump.  Oh, and it's recoverable so waiting for them to come down to the right height isn't a thing either.  Not that she can do much to them in the air anyway.

Control layout seems awkward to me.  Her classic combo is Y,A,B?  It feels like her moves are spread out when they don't need to be so much.

Bolt Slide...a SLIDE...counts as Mid?

Her Down+X ALSO counts as a Mid? 

Her explosive Arrow is also a Mid.  It's also inaccurate in that it tracked to the opponent's feet in source where it doesn't here.  Of course, there it was also unblockable.  Given the slow speed of the bow attacks, I can't feel it's unfair.  Alternatively you could speed up the bow attacks.

So she basically has no Low attacks whatsoever.

Infinite Spear is very, very spammable.  it's basically her go-to move for all situations.

If wings are still out on death, then they stay on screen after she's gone.

For the KO explosion explod to play during the KO pause, you need to add a pausemovetime line. Check the explod sctrl for more reference. Use p2life trigger to check if the opponent still has life or not.
