Yes , I'm still working on it, I've only been a little short of time last weeks, when i finish the arcade mode i will upload a new preview.


by the way, anyone knows what are the key number codes in mugen.cfg?

ehh, many years have been passed, i've started doing something called "MugenProPlus Frontend" today.

- Note: This is not compatible with msm2.x

I'm planning to do a full menu option rewrite, and left mugen only for fights.
so you can customize all except fights...

I've created an animation format today for it.

if someone is interesed i've will backup builds here for now (the source code is there too):

this is really eaaaaaaarly code, so don't expect nothing yet, but at least i've started doing something.

in version 2.x, you did  the system read round by round .... would be better if the system reads fight to fight

I did it fight to fight for single and simul, but not for team mode battles, that was round by round
, that's because mugen doesn't have a command line to launch the game in team mode, i can't do anything about it

the problem with that was you always have "Round 1" , in the fight, i think the only solution to that is to do various fight.def
with different round numbers...

Hi people, i'm the creator of mugen story mode 2.x tool.

I've created that tool in 2011 when i'm a still an student, years have been passed and now i'm finished my studies at university.

I have some ideas to develop a new version of this tool, but i want to know if someone is interesed in using it.
And have some feedback of what features will be convenient to add.
 
Some ideas:

-Storyboard support (i don't know ANYTHING of *.ssf storage format, if someone can help with this :) i can support it, if not i can create a new
format to store the images for mugen story mode)
 
-No more  story mode/classic mode menus, i don't want to code a new full engine, but i can code menus, and character screen selection to include the story mode with the other modes, i really want to create a fully customizable menu structure, when you can add arcade like modes, story like modes, etc. To allow things like having different selection screens for arcade and versus, etc. Maybe a beat em up mode using paintown support, etc.

-I will move the wxwidgets interface to SDL (i have coded a full rpg for university in SDL 1.2 last year, so i know a little of it), except for the movie player

-Other things will be keeped, like char/stage unlocking system. Etc.

-There will be heavy changes, so 2.x and 1.x storys and all will not be compatible.

So i added a poll to this, if you have any idea to the development, post it. bye.

Hey, great tool and all. But I've got a question - how to remove a picture showing between the battles
(that it doesn't appear at all - in my Mugen i replaced it with loading screen)
Any ideas ?

Hi :)

kamilioxnumetal, do you have to modify the story file to make your own one? At the first try, I wasn't able to do that, because I made a new file and the program didn't save the progress; but then I modified the story file in the folder and it saved progress. Is there a way to do the first thing I said, with progress saved and all that?
I also have the same problem as tomur111.

do you refer to "Stories\Default.mhd"? what program? mugen story mode?, mugen story creator?, i tried to create a new story file with creator and save it and it saved it

So, I use Hex Editor and probably I find problem.
All triggers are saving in file 'triggers" and it works well.
But when I play saga 2 times, then, if i  think, this triggers are double. And than your program can't read them correctly.
For example: I play saga first time and after in Hex Editor, trigger value is 'e3'. All is well. But when i play saga second time trigger value changes to 'e4'. And StoryMode don't see it.
I hope you know what I mean :)
Do you know, how repair it?

sorry i tried to find the bug but i haven't found it, i released the source code, check if you can fix it

Man, this is great addon to mugen  :o
But, I don't now why, triggers don't work good. For example, sometimes when I close StoryMode and again play, then it doesn't save my progress. Or some sagas which should be locked is unlocked. I don't now why it's happen. It not always but sometimes. I use 2.2 version your StoryMode and 1.00 Mugen RC8. Do you have any idea, why it doesn't good?

Try to get out of mugen story mode using the esc key to the main menu every time, don't close it with the X close button, really i don't know what it's happening probably a bug...

the triggers are stored in a file called "triggers.mstg", you can check it with a hex editor to se if it changes when you activate a trigger, never delete this file and never compress it, you can copy/paste this file to restore your triggers to a previous state

another thing is the generation seed, is used to create the correct values for the triggers if you change it, you need to reset everything with "reset all triggers to zero"...

i'm going to check the program and try to fix bugs..

creo que se refiere a que si despues de crear su historia, podria pasarle al archivo guardado de su historia a alguien mas y esa otra persona seria capaz de reproducir la misma historia utilizando ese archivo en su MugenStoryMode propio

algo asi como un savefile creo

mm de poder se puede, pero no en un archivo, tienes que exportar las historias, sagas todo lo que sea necesario... al final es casi el juego completo...

seria haber...

if you want to pass on your story, you can but you have to correctly export the sagas, stories, and etc, files (pictures, htmls , music) and all that dependencies of the story

I don't plan to actually distribute my custom story, but this seems like a fun activity to see where I am with the customization part of M.U.G.E.N.

I will test this out.

Just a quicky: If I ever wanted to pass on my story, I could do it via the file, right?

It could also be nice if the user could configure the sagas' selector to look like a regular character select screen, to make it more similar to actual fighting games.

Just my two cents.

i consider your suggestions, just give a few days to have time to code xd (i back to the university this week, vacation end so i don't have so much time)

There's no way to put the Story Mode option on the Main Menu?
It would be better instead of "Story Mode" "Arcade Modes" "Exit".

Also, how do i make an HTML page as an story chart?

No there's no way, no without mugen source code

would it be possible for you to add a third option as well? So I can have "STORY", "ARCADE" (Which would be just the normal mugen stuff as it is right now) and a third mode for anything we want like for example a "MISSION" mode or "CHALLENGE" mode?

I'm aware that you can already do that by using story mode and coding mission or challenge mode stages/fights instead but for the sake of not having like 3 versions of this thing in the same mugen if would be nice to be able to have them all in the same executable/front end. Shouldn't be really hard as all you would need is make sure each mode reads only the files it should and ignore the duplicates of the other modes' files.

mmmm interesing, probably i can modify the "sagalist.sdef" file, and make a thing like this

saga2.mhx,mode2
saga2.mhx,mode2

I really, REALLY like your idea. It's nice and refreshing to see something story related for Mugen as Mugen is essentially a mish-mash of.... everything.... fighting game related. It's a great idea.

But!!

Your layouts look as if someone simply cut pictures of Character 'X' and randomly placed them alongside text related to that character. If you upped your presentation ante a few notches you would have something killer on your hands.

xd but this is just a demo, i only want to show the program not to make a game

Okay, after working on a sort of test story, I have a few minor suggestions:

For files (like preview pictures, HTMLs, music for example) you could add a "Browse..." button to find the file, so we don't have to type out "Bitmaps/SagaFolder/Image.bmp" for each time.

Another is the ability to edit the info on the Stories in the Saga Configurator. For example if you want to change the story's picture (or  name), at the moment it seems you must delete the story from the list and then re-insert it again.

Just really minor things, although the first one would help quite a bit.

ok yes are really minor things no problem with that, wait until weekend and i code that xd

i'm sorry but i don't know how to handler sff/def , and if i try for now is impossible, i need to port all the program to a platform like sdl or allegro (and i have to learn sdl or allegro xd) and i don't have time for that now, another posibility is to load mugen with a "fake" 1 round battle with 2 null characters (no moves, no images nothing), and with a null screenpack (no powerbars, no energybars nothing), and code the storyboard in the stage xd, and using triggers in the character control the duration time of this "fake" battle, this "null" screenpack will not affect the game because mugen story mode can load mugen with different screenpacks via command line

lo siento pero no se como manejar los sff/def y si lo intentara por ahora es imposible, necesitaria portar todo el programa a una plataforma adecuada para ello como sdl o allegro (i tendria que aprender sdl o allegro)  y no tengo tiempo para eso ahora, otra posibilidad es cargar mugen con una pelea "falsa" de un round, con 2 chars nulos (sin movimientos sin imagenes nada) y con un screepack nulo (sin barras de vida o de poder nada), y programar el storyboard en el stage xd, y usando triggers en los personajes controlar la duracion de esta "falsa" pelea este screenpack nulo no afectaria el juego ya que mugen story mode puede cargar a mugen con diferentes screenpacks por linea de comandos

The program don't support mugen storyboards (def/sff) , only gif animations, html pages and videos
