Well, it's not like I didn't already have frame references handy anyway for the above mentioned...

Having some fun with this demo, but seem to have hit a game stopping bug around stage 10; after the fight with Tactical Force in the first room with the dual wall lasers after the raised platform, something appears to be stopping enemies from either spawning correctly or making it onto the screen. I'm guessing the platform itself has to at least be blocking one or more enemies, as a cursory check with a playable character that has a long range super managed to kill an off-screen enemy.

Saturn version considered one of the most arcade accurate ports in general, with the unfortunate price spike being related to increased speculation on retro game collecting as a whole plus the fact that this particular port never received a North American release. I've also been searching for an affordable copy of the Saturn port to no avail; same with Final Fight Revenge.

Ah yes, a DeeJay run animation.

While I'm here, @Rolento: Can I use and convert this anim to CvS style for a future sprite project? I'll give you full credit for it.

Don't mind much if you use it, but do keep in mind to also credit Fantoboy and Jesuszilla, as the former is the one who started the animation, and JZ tweaked it some more before it got back into my hands to finalize it so to speak.

Rather than try and photograph all the things within the past stint, just covering things from past week alone:
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

Worked out a deal for the bottom two and most of the 360 games, got Sonic Generations, Jet Force and Wave Race on different days.

Went to a video game swap meet in the area, and came back with a few things... (Should have image here, but think the April Fool's junk is messing with the link if the preview is any indication.)

Unless I am getting the dates for a few of these items mixed up, the items shown below are all things I picked up during this month aside from what appeared in the last batch:

Some Super Fighting Robots are always welcome especially if cheap, I-Ninja and Sonic for a chuckle, and the last one mostly due to it being funny that I found it at a Dollarama of all places when some shops still ask for around if not above $20.

Pardon the flash, mostly complete version of Shadow of the Ninja (needs manual), Super Thunder Blade with a terribly beat up manual, and Intergalactic Roomi Similator aka Galaxy Fight for the Sega Saturn.

Since obtaining another N64, I now officially have way more titles than when I originally owned the system. Also, shake shake.

Not pictured here: Mega Man Amiibo!

Some very recent pickups from a slightly out of the way vintage game and music shop around here:

Wrath of the Black Manta and Tecmo Super Bowl are technically upgrades to carts already in my possession, but the others are new.

I've also heard decent things about Mischief Makers, although the trick with N64 games is finding them at a reasonable price. Not always available in grey market or retro gaming shops. Only picked up the system again a week or so ago, so only have a small collection including a few choice titles like Crusin' USA, Smash Bros, Yoshi's Story, etc so far. As a side note if you're willing to make a slight alteration to your system, the regional protection for that system is for the most part the same tab based nonsense they were using in the SNES days, so it is possibly to play import titles with a small bit of surgery to remove the excess tabs in the cartridge tray.

I had been trying to figure out something that would make for a good video when a random trip to a game shop out of the way found me the curious little item on the left; can you spot the differences?

DOA Fan: I'll have to take a look later on to see if that shop still has its copy then. Forgot that this particular title and its protagonist moved so very slowly.

Paid over $20 CAN for it; sad part is I found another copy for cheaper a day or two later.

Bubble Bobble? Nice pick indeed. Recall that Simpsons game being a bit of a pain though, but it has been a long time since I played it.

Some of the things picked up while checking out a few stores that were out of the way for me. Not pictured but also recently acquired was a backlit GBA SP unit to play some of the GBC carts I had from before, and to help save my eyes from the strain that is trying to play off an original grey brick Game Boy unit!

Because really, we all need for live action Sega ninjas in our lives. Auction said used, but the wrap on the unopened package may very well have been the original as it still had a Japanese UPC code attached to it.

Addressing the upper torso only, it's actually still got a few kinks that need to be worked out; pectoral muscles do not line up with shoulder positioning and shading makes them and abdominal area visually flat. Indentations indicating where clavicles are do not appear to be drawn in this frame, which would help line things up a bit with pectoral muscles. Artist's left shoulder is outright missing, as it would still be visible with the implied foreshortening. Hand positions and face don't match with image being referenced.

http://callmemra.deviantart.com/art/Reference-Edit-Shin-Gouki-pose-490249634 <- Made an edit with most of the above things having been touched up in some way. Shading will need to likely be fixed to better match sprites, but hopefully still helps a bit.

I believe that would be because that frame is not his, but an edit by TDS made years ago for reference.

As a Mega Crap-lectionist I bet you have Megaman X7 boxed and sealed.
No, because at least MM Soccer has the slight excuse of being rushed out for being half-baked; what sort of excuse does X7 have?

Most of my retro collections are cart based games, although Saturn games have recently been added to the mix. Currently waiting for a few mail parcels now for some interesting picks.

My boxed copy of Mega Man Soccer is offended by your statement.

A boxed copy obtained for cheap because seriously, it's Mega Man Soccer. Not a huge demand.

Tying up loose ends before getting to Cat-themed Miscreant questions:

I couldn't come up with any clever ninja-related questions for Rolento, and this is totally not an excuse for being too late, so in that case, what is your explanation to the contradiction as to why the best ninja are the most flashy or brightly colored?

Because to get away with being so flashy and clearly visible, they have to be good. Why else do you think most ninjas that appear in games rarely actually use any degree of stealth or camouflage? In addition to the obvious gameplay related reasons, it's to advertise their supreme level of skill.

As for the Andore clan, I personally assume a degree of cloning is involved. Rather than stormtroopers or super soldiers though, we got German wrestlers. Go figure.

As for the questions for Iced:
- Did you by any chance keep a copy of D: ? I forgot to before Messenger closed down, and I miss that smiley.
- Why is it every time you start a conversation, this theme starts playing in the background?

- Favorite Godzilla film? Additionally, have you seen the newest one?
