nice example dude, is really simple and good!!
Yes, indeed simple is definitely the word here. Though, I'm hoping it's still well enough to encourage others to consider what can be done with character sprites now that M.U.G.E.N. can support such high resolutions.
Hes got that WTF look on his face
Well, I was referencing the art from Mega Man 1:

I like the details on the ear part, I like the shading on his clothes, I don't like his facial expression, I don't like the glow, the new boots changed from a pair of rocket booster into a blob,
sorry the HD version looks empty compared to the original, and use less palette as well
Well, believe it or not, the HD version actually has a few more colors in its palette than the non-HD one (though not that many more), but I think that's one of the issues in making a sprite go HD. The sudden shift in pixel area makes it so that the same amount of colors are no longer enough. I think you're pointing out the colors makes it obvious that if one were to try and go about this task, they'd need to make much, much bigger palettes for their new sprites if they don't want a good level of detail to be lost.
Anywho, yes, I'll admit that the HD sprite does look quite empty compared to the original. Honestly, though, I can't say I was really going for much when making this HD sprite. It was kind of a "quick and dirty" attempt that was solely made for the purpose of showing off that something better can be done than what was done with Kung-Fu Man. Though even this still needs a lot of work, I think it's still loads better than just going with the "blow-up filter" technique that was used to convert KFM to an HD character.
So do you make HD sprites the same way or what? I wanna attempt to make one!
The way I did it was essentially to blow up the original sprite to 500% (as seen on the left), then using an image editing program (such as Photoshop), I just put a new layer over it and traced a new sprite using a one-pixel sized pencil tool. It's really not hard at all to do, but if you want your HD sprites to look really good, then you'll probably have to put a lot more into what you're doing than I did. Despite the complaints against my sprite, though, I still think it looks decent as is. I was just hoping this would be enough to get the ball rolling and see if anybody else out there would be interested in doing something like this in the future for M.U.G.E.N. characters.
his face is like GUTS ASS!
Actually, I believe that would look more like this:

I can't help but find that amusing, since those were some of my earliest sprite artwork.
