Regardless of that, both the Japanese and American KOF anni sites do say  he employs "special flames" so bleh all around, it's confusing enough to ponder in this state.

Stop being stubborn, his flames being actually acid doesn't even beat your previous point and denying it only makes you look like a fool.

SNK is just handling it in some rather misleading way, like making him able to do explosions.

Well, in that situation he's kinda right. If he stole kyo's flames he would have 3, his own, kyo's and iori's. It's phrased horribly though.

Guah, if they wanted new Iori here, they should have given it a storyline of some sort. New Iori NEEDS to be explained. Like, why does he have blue flamy shit inside his slashing effects if he's lost the flames.

If his flames were crimson, and he's lost the orochi cos ash has it, why are his internal slash flames blue like orochi. We know ash stole at LEAST the orochi power, cos his flames are blue/purple in that particular ending. If he'd just stolen the Yagami flames, they'd be red.

The Yasakani no Magatama is the sacred treasure of his family, and is probably what gives him his flames. Those flames are regular red/yellow, as seen in '97 ending and also in NGBC I think.
The curse of the pact with Orochi turned these flames to purple.
Ash specifically stole the Yasakani no Magatama, not just the curse. And Magaki says nothing about that.


Ash is stealing all three Sacred Treasures. the Yata no Kagami, the Yasakani no Magatama and Kusanagi no Tsurugi.

You realise Chizuru had the yata mirror right?.

As far as we can tell iori has lost the power of orochi that he previously had, This apparently included flames. Although there are glimpses of said blue flames within some of the slashes. No story line on this kof makes new iori hard to understand.

It has no story, how can it possibly be canon ? However, what is probably canon is Iori's new fighting style if he does lose his flames. And the Ikari Warrior's new body size as well as Ryo's (who is back to being as big as in AoF instead of his KoF shorter build)
