So I was told somewhere else that even if you have all original art and gameplay that you can't sell a game using the mugen engine. Is that true? If not are there any sources stating so?

We're planning on redesigning them further from the copyrited mascots and not using the names, for example Clown instead of Ronald. It's a risky line between parody and copyright infringement but we're thinking of trying to find it.

Hey hows it going. My name is Eric Santana and I'm part of an indie group named DAPsoft and we are trying to make a fighting game called Extreme Value Combo Alpha (EVCA).

Its a game that parodies various fast food restaurants, you guys may have seen this picture floating around before. We were always hesitant to make this game but with some redesigns we're confident we can make this game as being a parody of fast food restaurants

We have very talented artists, designers and animators but we have no programmers on our team and we do not have a plan for what engine we will use.

If we use MUGEN we cannot sell this game correct?

not a bad look. what'll be their fighting style(S)? or are you just in the spriting stage now?

Actually in the planning stages, discussing what there roles are going to be, who will be speedy characters, big/slow characters, long ranger characters. Once we deterine the roles and it looks like it ight be balanced on paper and have some move lists we'll start churning out art for this.

Wish there was some articles online discussing balancing of fighters though, would like some help with determing the roles different fighters need in these games to make it balanced and fun.

A full game is a lot of work...
How many spriters for your project?

It can be very good con release it actually in a full game
Good luck with it.

Yep a lot of work, will definitly lose sleep in the next few months. Right now I'm the only spriter but will pick up a few more spriters once we get a little headway with this game.

An idea a friend and I had a while ago. Finally deciding to go through with it and make this game. We have a bad history with programmers, I think we'll use the MUGEN engine.

If anyone has any good links to the anatomy of a fighting game, touching on topics like balancing the characters, different types of fighters (speedy, tanks) ect, I'd really appreciate it.

Also if you guys have any requests on what you would want from a game like this, any features, chatacters or moves I'd like to hear them to, thanks!

We have such bad luck with programmer, we've gone through four of them. It's like we have a programmer curse. Well, we have a new programmer and hopefull he'll bring this game together.

And I dont know if I mentioned this but as your health goes down so does the graphics, from 32 bit to 16 bit to 8 bit.

We took a long break but last couple months we've been getting back on the horse to make this baby work. Here's some animations we've been working on.

And a mockup with a stage we did. The playing screen isnt going to be this big, this was just a test.

And we have a very talented music composer making nice techno, retro music tracks for the game, heres an example.

I have a Q how many playable characters will you be able to choose from? Just the robot?

And one more Q if its not runing it on mugen then what's it runing it on?

There will be two robots, male and female. And we have a programmer creating an engine for it.

You guys seriously created these sprites.... :o
They look professional.

Why thank you! It helps though that most of us work or have done work for video game companies

Nah we're not using MUGEN, I hope it's still ok to post here. For the engine our programer is making an engine for the specs of this game.

And thanks btw  ;)

Hello everyone, I wasn't quite sure if this was the correct place to post this or not. A couple of friends and I have gotten together a small team and are trying to make a great game within a couple of months. We started about two weeks ago and progress seems to be coming along nicely. So I wanted to share with some of you guys some sprites and will continue to update them as we progress.

So the basic jist of the game is you are an Anti-Virus sent into an infected computer to destroy the viruses. There are a few aspects of the gameplay which are really unique that we want to keep secret for now but will let you know them as soon as we think it's ok to release that info.

By the way these are just regular baddies, bosses will be MASSIVE. And this is a 2D platformer. Dont know if this is aginst the rules, if it is I can quickly take this down but the two sprite artists on this is Eric and Jeph and their DA galleries where they're dumping all these sprites can be found here http://synje.deviantart.com and here http://bosscrab.deviantart.com
