Lol it was a guesstimate my friend. Chillax. I said early 2000s. Not early 2000. That's between 2000-2005ish... and I also said I just played it around that time. Never coded. Never claimed I'm a master of mugen. I still know jack shiz about it. Damn, there's always gotta be one in every forum huh?

Hey duuuudes. How's it goin? I think I first heard about mugen in the early 2000s.. downloaded some characters and played the game before but never created anything for it. I was too impatient. I was a kilk & play/mulimedia fusion guy. Now I'm trying to make my own game with digitized graphics of my friends and I (not really original I know.. but I'm obsessed with old school mortal kombat).. so I'll try not to be one of those annoying guys that ask a million questions buuuut I can't guarentee anything (especially with character coding ughh) :) I've only had one question so far with palettes/transparency.. but I've been able to figure out stages, lifebars, and other little things with graphics digging around by myself and with tutorials.

Ill keep you guys updated! Wish me luck!

I think I know what you mean when photoshop locks colors. The one color i always needed was locked somewhere in the middle and no matter if I changed the last color on the palette, if I changed the middle color the background would change to that new color. But id savejust the palette anyways and it was still screwy. Funny thing is that cybaster's tut was the tutorial I used to begin with and didn't even know. Gonna try it one more time then give gimp a try.

Sorry for the angry subject line. I feel a little better saying that, now I'll feel a lot better when I get this figured out!

So I'm making a stage. Got my background image in. Ok sweet.. now I wanna add a floor (on top of the background image) that's kinda rocky so its not flat. So it needs to be transparent in certain areas. So I make a palette in photoshop like the tutorial says and make the color I want transparent the last color on the palette and make sure I change any duplicate colors. Ok great. Now I make mask=1 in def and all should be great right???? NO! The floor and the color that's supposed to be transparent sits on top of my background image! WTF? I feel like I tried every option. Pullin my hair out here. Everything else I coded with the stage works.

Please help I will love you long time. Thanks.
