need help with helpers

I have made a character and I showed it at 'Projects'.
I got the advise to make the dog and the little ghost 'helpers'.
this is my first character ever made and what I did was I made all 3 sprite in 1 sprite and animated it this way,
if I had used helpers it was better, can anyone help me with this?

im new to this this is my first try. can you help me with a good tutorial I don't know how to let them follow him, not in 1 sprite.
or can you tell me this?
I will try the kung fu man template thanks for the tips!

ps. why is it weird to have S-Ko as a projectile? haha
