I cant even put my resolution in anything 640x480 or less.

I've heard that the smaller your resolution, the smoother mugen will run. So, why wouldn't you be able to put it in anything less than that? o.O

actually, 5 gig is pretty huge: think about it: mugen has to load characters, stages, sounds, music etc...
to counter long ass mugen loading, the only efficient solution i know is having various screenpacks with small rosters.

Actually, you're right. I'll probably do a little clean-up soon, but I think the main cause is all those mp3 files for stages. Can I use midi files instead? Because they're a lot smaller than mp3s!

Yeah, well I don't mind the loading time THAT much, but what really pisses me off is that most of the time it just crashes! I can go take a shower and then come out and it's completely frozen and says not responding -_- and I'm only loading about 5 GB of data which isn't THAT much.

Well, that thread doesn't really help my problem because my MUGEN runs smooth when it comes to fights. It only takes a while to get to the menu screen! After that, it runs flawlessly.

Is there a way to speed up the amount of time it takes to start MUGEN? I'm using the EVE screenpack so once I press the START button on the loading screen, it takes forever to start! Sometimes it doesn't even start, it just stays at the loading screen for hours(crashes). Does anyone know any tricks?

Anyone have these?

Anyone have Jojo's Bizarre Adventure M.U.G.E.N Edition and/or Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus Ultimate Mugen by Zinesis? I've looked everywhere and cannot find these! They seem very rare now! Torrent is fine.

EDIT: If anyone has the collection of characters from each game, that would work as well. Thanks.

You mean the one made by Duracelleur? yeah... that was actually a good compilation... I know I said im not in favor of compilations but Duracelleur's stuff is always trusted.

Yes, KOF Anthology 2 is by Duracelleur and so far I haven't gotten any random helpers at startup lol. This one has way more characters and specials so looks like I'll just go with this one! It'll be less complicated this way :P Thanks for your time though! (Although it would still be nice to solve this mystery :/)

They might have been prepared to work only in a fullgame aspect.
I suggest changing the thread name to attract responses that go towards what you need.
Something like "Characters leave behind helpers during intro, how to fix?"

Thanks, I'll do that! And I just downloaded KOF Anthology 2, so I'll try the characters from that one and see what happens!

Why the hell would you download an incomplete and corrupted compilation made with the EVE screenpack???.... this is pure fail....   I recommend you to stay away from compilations, their never up to date and they could always have a virus...

I'm sorry, but they didn't come with EVE. I already had that screenpack and all the characters excluding the KOF ones. I forgot to mention that I downloaded a game called KOF EX UNLIMITED MATCH, which had the KOF characters. The characters work fine though, it's just this helper issue.

I downloaded a mugen game that has a bunch of KOF characters and for some reason they all have mirror images of themselves! I've never seen this before in my life. Does anyone know how to fix this? The video is very laggy btw because I recorded it really quick using camstudio, but it's just to get the point accross.

Thank you

EDIT: Ok I tried the debug menu and it says 7872: Warning: (character's name)'s helper in state 90900 changed to invalid state 90900 from state 0

I remember you could make certain characters NOT appear in arcade, or have them only appear at a certain stage. I forgot how to do it! Thanks.

The Lightworks one looks pretty good. How do the winquotes work though? Do you have to manually make some for characters that don't have any? And surprisingly, I just found a EVE screenpack that works!

I desperately need a decent screenpack that isn't too complicated, that works and that has good amount of character slots. It doesn't have to be original, it could be based off a game if it's good. I liked EVE when I was younger, but it doesn't seem possible to get anymore.

I've been trying to find some, but most of them use these advanced character portraits that don't let normal character portraits show in the character selection or VS screens. These types of screenpacks ARE complicated. Thanks for your time!

Not anymore, you can now use Vselect and add characters with a few mouse clicks.

Alright, I'll check it out. Thanks!

That was quick! Well, first of all when I say random slot I mean when you have a slot that gives you a random character. I remember before you could have boss characters, that wouldn't show up in your CSS, but they would still sometimes come up if you chose the random slot. Get it?

I've been absent from the MUGEN scene for around 4 years. Reason why is I lost my WHOLE roster when my HDD crashed. It was a very sad day indeed, but I got over it. I gave up on recollecting all my characters though; I had way too many.

So, 4 years later, I said why not give it another chance and discovered that there was a new version, MUGEN 1.0! It looks really nice from what I can tell. Now I just wanted to know a few things before I got started. Do the characters made for the previous version work with this one? Also, did they ever implement a way to stop boss characters from appearing in "random" slots?

Lastly, are there any character packs available on MFG? IIRC, it was very tedious to download all those characters individually, especially adding them all into the select.def file. It would be even better if there were some packs with the select.def already done! Although I highly doubt that! :P

Thanks!
