Heh, guess I was used to packing things in zip format that I forgot I made the switch between the old and the new version. Fixed the link.

EDIT: By the way, I know it's common courtesy in any coding-related (hahaha, coding, funny...) community to give proper credits, even in an open source project, but quite frankly, I don't give a damn.

Okay, so, it's Christmas. I've been thinking a lot about this, and I finally decided to release Homsar, as an open source project. It lacks a lot of things, like sprites, attacks and more, but meh.

Included are both the original Homsar for WinMUGEN, as well as an updated version for MUGEN 1.0. It also includes almost all the working resources in the MUGEN 1.0 version, which of course means the archive is pretty bloated. Unfortunately I could not find the original worksheet for Homsar, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

WinMUGEN
MUGEN 1.0

Will this mean I'll be abandoning this project? Not entirely, I might work on it one day, but for now I'll leave it unfinished. I'm pretty sure others could do much better coding with this, anyway.

Nice sidestep of the removing characters issue.  They've also properly anglicized Patroklos' name now to Patroclus.

Properly anglicized my anus, in the original Greek mythology, Patroklos was actually written as Patroklos. It's a Greek name, not some Latin bastardization. It's only after some douchebags decided that "the Roman spelling is the correct spelling, that's why, hey Herakles should be called Hercules."

It's disappointing, but Megaman series is dead... At least Capcom don't did a hentai game to bury the series like the makers of Valis: Phantasm Soldier did.
Roll: Oh Mega Man, take me, take me like a wild animal!
Mega Man: But aren't we brother and sister?
Roll: Who cares, we're robots. Let's get carnal!

why four Resident Evil characters
Street Fighter: 5 characters (and I counted Haggar since Final Fight universe is bonded with SF)
Darkstalkers: 3 characters
Resident Evil: 4 characters
Devil May Cry: 3 characters
Megaman: 2 characters (3 if you count Frank West with his MMX armor )
Ghost n' Goblins: 2 characters
X-Men: 7 characters
Avengers: 6 characters (8 if you count Spiderman and Wolverine, part of New Avengers. 9 if you count Taskmaster, past Avengers enemy)
Fantastic Four: 4 characters (5 if you count Spiderman, 6 if you count the random sub-boss a la Silver Surfer)
Hulk: 2 characters
Dr. Strange: 3 characters (4 if you add Hulk as part of Strange's Defenders team)
Deadpool: 2 characters (X if you add special appearances/team-ups with the Merc with a Mouth)

Are you still complained about numbers, n00bs??
The thing is, aside from Marvel being the unavoidable unavoidance when it comes to more characters per franchise (seriously, can you name any other character from the Marvelverse that does not belong in either category? And Deadpool did feature quite a few times in X-Men, so I'm pretty sure you can count him as an X-Men character, also, the Hulk has been an Avenger, just like, surprise, Jennifer Walters, the Marvel side isn't even that diverse when you think about it), who remembers Nemesis outside the one game he was featured in? And if you mention the second Resident Evil movie, you should be ashamed of yourself, because it is generally accepted that this movie does not exist.

Sure, you can say the same about Gene, who only featured in one game, but the thing is, people really want him in.

Thing is, even a freaking Yian Kut-Ku would have been more deserving than Nemesis. Why was he even on the poll, anyway? Why no Yian Kut-Ku? I want to play as a Yian Kut-Ku.

Finally, believe it or not, but Haggar is still not a Street Fighter character, and unless Capcom is immigrating him into the main series, he stays out of the series. Sure you can argue that the original name for Final Fight was supposed to be something like Street Fighter or something, but it's not anymore.

One of the bigger problems I have with the new characters is, why four Resident Evil characters, with Nemesis being one of those characters people don't really give a lot about, and not include a Mega Man, or hell, Mega Man X, the one character that fills every top five list of most wanted character in a new Marvel vs. Capcom? I mean, sure, I can understand Firebrand, he's a flying character and crap. I can also understand Frank West, and Vergil apparently was popular enough to occupy the number six position on the Capcom Unity poll. But Nemesis? He's like, number 60 or something? The hell Capcom? The hell?

Also, I would have gladly traded in Rocket Raccoon with either Howard the Duck or Squirrel Girl, but you can't have everything.

But hell, if not a Mega Man, why not Gene? He's number THREE.

Yeah, but it's mostly got to do with time constraint. They originally were planning on doing one, but they either couldn't get that character cleared in time or Microsoft just was like, Hwhuuuaaaat? for like several months before finally responding with "Hmmmkay".

Also, I seriously hope that Jason Vorhees will make it to the next round of DLK.

In fact, I just hope they will make the next round of DLK. There are still some characters people would love to see return in Mortal Kombat. I can't think of any to be honest, other than, for example, Cyber Smoke, but we also need Klassic Costumes for all the other people playable in the game.

By the way, wouldn't it be funny if, for example, Neo would make it in a future round as well? No? I shut up then.

Okay, to end this discussion with just one word.

BUNCHANERDS.

But seriously, the one thing NRS taught Capcom is how to keep something that is supposed to be a secret actually a secret. So far Capcom managed to pull it off twice to actually prematurely release the entire roster accidentally. At least twice. First with Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, second time with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Other than that, I'm excited for both releases, seeing as I actually don't give a crap about which one is supposed to be better. I love Mortal Kombat for its fatalities, while I love Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for its fan wank.

Also, I thought this was a Mortal Kombat thread, not a Marvel vs. Capcom thread. Now I'm not implying that people should stay on-topic, because if even site staff can't pull this one off we're already fucked on that part. It's just that, it only creates unneeded tension. People who hate Mortal Kombat should get the fuck out, people who hate Marvel vs. Capcom should keep that to themselves, in my opinion. But again, since even the staff is helping derailing the thread, I seriously don't give a fuck anymore about how this topic will end up.

Because screenshots of my stage WIPs and releases don't suffice. My stages mostly are animated, or have stuff that have to be seen in motion.

That, and I can reach more people with videos than I could on these forums. The more downloads, the more fulfilment I get.

Make a worse character, so that your previous character seems good in comparison.

No, I will not add Pucca as a god damn Homsar transformation, you prick.

If anything, there would need to be a MUGEN character of Guybrush. Putting him in as a stage prop would be stupid.

Adding the chandelier, making a second version with all the pirates, find the songs for both the pre-kidnap and post-kidnap Scumm Bar (although I think post-kidnap was silent, but I kind of forgot). Perhaps even add the walking chef or something, but I kind of forgot what he did and stuff.

Yeah, you should just imagine this being the part after Elaine Marley gets kidnapped or something, without all the cups being there, and the chandelier not hanging for whatever reason (perhaps the pirate hanging from it broke it off?).

So yeah, Scumm Bar.

So anyway, this is the Scumm Bar from The Secret of Monkey Island, as it appears in the Special Edition release, for MUGEN 1.0. I used some small tricks for it to make it both full color and have alpha blending and stuff, by using the RGB method, or rather, on some stuff the ARGB method (using an alpha layer as a subtractive layer and the rest as additive), which I also used for the Battle of the Bands version of Strong Badia.

Anyway, here's the WIP release. I'm posting this mainly because I don't know how long this time my MUGEN phase lasts, so I'd better show it before I quit MUGEN again.

how do you guys are doing the Color separation, Fighter Factory is fucking up everything here
I *imagine* having to sprite the entire character with different colors for each separated group and stuff, after which you take the palette from that image and use that palette as a base for your color separated palettes.

Butter Building (Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland) v1.0

In 2002, Nintendo remade one of the classic Nintendo games: Kirby's Adventure. The game was renamed to Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland. It featured some notable differences with the original. One was Butter Building, where the rotating tower part was removed.

With this MUGEN stage, I tried to bring back the rotating stage, while using some tricks to give it a more modern look.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Sunset v1.0

I've heard legends of that person.
How he plunged into enemy territory
How he saved his homeland.

I've heard legends of that person.
How he traveled the breadth of the land, reducing all he touched to rubble.

I've heard legends of that person.
I've heard legends of that person.

Revered by many--I too, revere him.
Feared by many--I too, fear him.

Now that person
Stands at my side.

Now that person stands at my side.
Now my friends are with me.
Some of them were once heroes
Some, my mortal enemies.

And as we face each other in battle, locked in combat
We shine ever brighter.

Okay, I need your input on this, or rather, your opinions, but here's the deal.

I want to create a rather unique throw, one that doesn't damage, but only sends the opponent in a sort of paralyzed state. When the throw is successful, the opponent gets the Jibblies.

Now I'm not sure if Homsar himself can cast the Jibblies or just reflects the Jibblies, but either way I'm planning on using Rocoulm, the Horrible Painting, to do the jorb. But I'm not really sure if that's really something Homsar would do. No question that he could, though.

Also, the Jibblies fail if the opponent is fearless, or just has special identifiers for the Jibblies. I'm going to make a new range of identifiers, all reserved for specific attacks anyway.
