And so it ends. Forsaken. the mystique the place once held fades as the thin fog of its nature.
Her words still hurts like a blunt dagger through his heart. The place he once called home, now eagerly awaits the moment he is nothing but a shadow on the horizon. he is no longer welcomed. persona non grata

Denial strikes. "it can not be that bad" he thinks "Time will sweep it, as it had always done".
He dons the likeness of a might bovine knight, crossing the cold forest of another world, hunting the pelt of great wolves, a task given by his Green bosses. but the incessant strikes of the blade of a annoying enemy prevents him to gain the desired peace.

"I need a time alone" he ponders "Only me against the A.I. like old times". however, his box had gained the 3 red markings. so he turned to the one that could grant his soul the peace he desired: the fourth one. However, the vapors were in the process of keeping up with the times. Not just the fourth one was unavailable, but also the game of space bending.

in a desperate measure, he decided to ride in search of his dreams of peace, mounted on a steel steed. but as his dreams were crushed on the rocks below, a misplaced hit of a button brought him back to his inner turmoil

"The Novels" he says "In times like this, a good Graphic novel always heal my soul". He picks one at random. Its a tale from the Lord of dreams. a tale about change and destruction. about one's place on the universe and how delirium started such quest. a tale in which desire was denied.

He takes it as a sign. he understand what he must do. "I'm moving to the northern lands", he remembers, "life as i know it will cease to exist on a few days. its only fit that every bit of it should end."

a sour note, no doubt, but and end still.

He erases his markers. the hall of his opera has 3 blank spaces now. as he write his final words, he can not avoid to think about the future: His words, rolled up with the non-sense trash by the one he regarded as his nemesis, disregarded as petty ramblings.  His very name forgotten by the few he helped and the fewer he called comrades.

Seven cycles. It was quite the time. It was quite the journey. but now he realizes that its time to move. the anchor had been broken, and a new bright future awaits.

As he reach the main entrance, He looks at the place he helped manage and he says to the eletronic wind

"Good bye, so Long and Farewell. and thanks for all the fish".

He salutes the members of the guild, turn his back to them, and walks towards the setting sun.

as his shadows get smaller, he starts to sing

Hey, Jude, don't make it bad,
take a sad song and make it better
Remember, to let her into your heart,
then you can start, to make it better.

....

And anytime you feel the pain,
Hey, Jude, refrain,
don't carry the world upon your shoulders.

For well you know that it's a fool,
who plays it cool,
by making his world a little colder.
Na na na na na na na na...

Hey Tony what are you doing?

"Telling everyone how cool Big Bang Theory is"

*laugh track*

Hey Tempest what are you doing?

"Pinpointing my post on random discussions to increase the attention i get"

*TAN TAN TAAAAAN*

no you haven't

So yeah, even tough you guys might love the little relationship troubles between Leonard and Penny, or Sheldon Quirkies, or Wolowitz trying to hump every female on the show ,the 75% nerd jokes are what separate the show from the rest, and is actually what made it viable on the first place.

coincidentally he's the most popular character on the show. the male characters in bbt are thick glasses and nasal voices and references. the girl is cleavage and a soft voice. barring sheldon who is memorable because he's very awkward and references shit all the time they're all forgettable

So we agree that referencing IS WHAT ATTRACTS PEOPLE TO THE SERIES! good.
so we agree that IT IS IMPORTANT TO THE SERIES! good.

now, let's agree that, the fact that the series is already on the 3rd season, does mean that nerds ain't the only ones that find the series funny.

otherwise, the tick would still be on.

and it's "lives", bizarro
I knew there was something wrong there... damn homophones.

when most of the show is referencing and barely anything else, yes it's a horrible thing. bbt is remembered mostly because it references nerd shit. this is also why family guy is a bad show. that's obviously not the case in seinfeld which is remembered by creating its own funny situations without relying on references most of the time

Quote
"emulator? nerdy.. he is a nerd.. hehehehe.."
a character said some nerdy shit
if i get the reference: haha, that's funny. nicely done, i get the reference
if i don't get it: haha, that's so nerdy and i don't get it but i'm laughing because i'm an idiot!!!

WOW you make it sound like writing this show must be the easiest thing on earth!! everyone is pleased

Never said it ain't. If i want complex writing, I ain't going to BBT, buddy. but there are worse things on tv (CSI Miami, for instance) and saying something "sucks" just cause you don't belong to the demographic is kinda bad at itself.

Complaining that BBT does referencing is complaining that the first seasons of south part does the "OMG he Killed Kenny". if you don't like that, sorry buddy. this show ain't for ya.

the same line repeated in a 10 second timespan should not have a laugh track

so the sound guy blew up... and the entire show is bad because of that?

no that's like comparing apples and some fruit nobody's ever heard of. if there was a tv show about chileans that relied almost completely on making injokes about chilean culture and people there are enormous chances i'd find it bad and unfunny. but a show about chileans doesn't have to rely completely on that. it could be funny by itself, just like most good sitcoms. making references most of the time isn't nerd humor, it's poor writing. revenge of the nerds wasn't mostly references.

and the show ain't just that. I've mentioned Sheldon's quirks, Wolowitz's eternal strugle for female attention, Leonard's beign the "simpathetic loser" that is attracted to Penny (which often get him in trouble). there is even Raja, who is shy to the point he can't talk out loud if a girl is in the room. and Penny herself, which is the "outsider among outsiders".

and have you noticed that all examples you used do feature Sheldon? you know why? Because that kind of joke IS Sheldon role on the show. he is the "Über Geek" who leaves in his own world and believes he is right all the time.
(and yes. I know a lot of time, I sound just like that).

You completely ignored Wolowitz, Raja, Leonard and penny, whose jokes do not rely that much on referential humor.

its easy to make a case ignoring 80% of the main cast.

right so since it's been established that both shows use referencing comics in a completely differently way why did you even bring it up

Because it is still referencing. Your picture implies that it is a bad thing to do. and that it is misplaced, after all, there shouldn't be a reason to do that.

My case being that BBT is the place to do that. on the context of the series, a heavy intake of referencing ain't only expected, but needed. otherwise, the characters would appear fakes.

Think of what an actual Veteran of Vietnam thinks when he sees Rambo. or what a cop thinks when he sees Die Hard.

uhhhh someone that doesn't get the reference will find it funny?

"emulator? nerdy.. he is a nerd.. hehehehe.."

and

Quote
Because that kind of joke IS Sheldon role on the show. he is the "Über Geek" who leaves in his own world and believes he is right all the time

and because he is doing it on a staircase.

if your premise of humor relies heavily on referencing things that you hope your audience might get then you're not really funny

I woulndn't be "Universaly Funny". however, I would still be funny.
If I tell you some brazilian jokes, you won't find it funny until i explain why.
the same way if you tell me some Chillean jokes, I won't find it funny until you explain me why.

the whole deal here is that Nerds are a much smaller group than a whole country or city.

seinfeld does not rely on referencing anywhere as much as bbt does, which is something i said several posts ago
Which is needed for the kind of characters that the show wants to portray, something that I said several posts ago.

difference being that the bizarro deal was basically explained in seinfeld while in bbt it would be a bizarro namedrop followed by a laughtrack
Because, On Seinfeld, it was a joke that should reach everyone.
On BBT, its time for the "nerd joke of the segment"
different uses here.

that's because they're mainstream due to media outside comics. referencing them is not exactly obscure

And Have I said otherwise?

i get the jokes and i don't find them funny. i know about roms and emulators and super mario 64. does that mean i have to find that shit funny? no

yes. but someone who DOES NOT know about this stuff, will find, after all  "who plays games on a staircase?" and "emulator? nerdy.. he is a nerd.. hehehehe.."

Oh, Sheldon's theory is wrong.

Flight ain't a feat of strength. is actually derived from a  kind of Kryptonian telekinetic personal force field.
otherwise, he wouldn't be able to float.

Thor's flight, on the other hand, is a "feat of strength".

if that was supposed to be the funny part the laughtrack wouldve been earlier. they had to wait for the POORLY CODED EMULATOR!! punchline instead

and what If he said "I'm checking my e-mails"? do you think it would be funnier?
the "poorly coded emulator" was simply to state exactly what he was doing. the sentence don't have "funny" outside the fact that he was on a staircase.

ugh
Thank you for proving my point.

seinfeld doing a superman funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRAFILarqSU
bbt doing a superman funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PvwtS0htyk
both are completely different. jerry doesn't make 5 superman jokes per episode

Because Jerry ain't doing a nerd show. however, he still did some jokes, didn't he?

yeah i'm glad seinfeld referenced superman, he's so obscure and nobody has ever heard of him. finally some mainstreamery for clark kent

Not superman. Bizarro. a concept created inside superman comics that, even these days, only Comic book fans are aware of it.

if he wanted, he could used references to the mirror world from the original star trek. almost every comedy show uses it at some point.

references to Superman, Batman or Spiderman entered mainstream realm decades ago.

bbt is a show that relies way too heavily on referencing outside material. it's garbage much like family guy

And what have I been saying all along: nerd humor depensds a lot on referential humor.
to dismiss it as garbage is simply because you don't get the joke.

I know the feeling. Its the reason I stopped watching Brazilian television.

BTW, Since we mentioned it, I always considered you to be "Bizarro Tony 3rd".
and every post of yours confirms it.

Yeah, but Superman always appeared in the background, and the Bizarro episode wasn't a cheap joke at nerds' expense, it was just a goofy look at, well, a Bizarro version of our characters.

These pretzels are making me thirsty.

really, BBT ain't cheap jokes on nerds expenses. the screen writers actually did their homework.

that Mariah Carey video that she did to try to ride the "nerd love" wave is.

doesnt make it funny tho
i dont even remember most of the episodes i watched

you see.. that's the deal...

let me give an example (actually, one that I've mentioned already)

do you find these funny?

well, Nerds do. for 2 reasons:

1) The Joke itself

2) And inside joke that says : "Math jokes: You don't know what is worse: to find it funny, or that you understand why its is funny"

So, when they decided to do a show around "nerds", that kind of stuff is "not impossible, its inevitable"*.

and, and i say this as a nerd myself, they are doing a good job "dumbing things down" without disregarding who the characters are supposed to be.  (the ubuntu thing for instance).

So yeah, even tough you guys might love the little relationship troubles between Leonard and Penny, or Sheldon Quirkies, or Wolowitz trying to hump every female on the show ,the 75% nerd jokes are what separate the show from the rest, and is actually what made it viable on the first place.

*can you guess the reference here, Mr. Anderson?

also its the worst show ever
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETNiMHxu8xw

why is there a laugh track after he says he's playing a game on a poorly coded emulator. where's the humor in that

is that common to you play games on a staircase?

sure. that ain't the funniest joke, but you can see why some people would find if funny. specially people who don't make the habit of playing games wherever they go.

"normal people" find it stupid. and stupid is funny.

they don't use references anywhere as much as bbt does

yes. but they use quite frequently.
"Nerd Humor" is mostly based on referential humor. check XKCD for instance. of that "Pi/I" joke.

Seinfeld actually got the whole "superman appears on (almost) every episode)" and they actually did a whole episode on the "Bizarro concept".

that is nerd for you. because how most of the world view us, we actually enjoy when our stuff get used on mainstream.

without those jokes, BBT wouldn't be any different from any other show there is.

granted, Friends were a bad example. the closest thing that come to my mind is the crossover with mad about you (which crossovered with Seinfeld, mind you).

BBT is a show is centered around nerds. and, for the first time, they actually tried to create believable ones.
I mean, even sheldon, who is the "uber geek" ain't shown like someone who speaks leet all the time.
(I think they dropped the ball on having him like Ubuntu, but that was probably product placement).

the fact that comic book moves and games made "nerd culture" cool helped a show like that to be viable.

you, "normal people", can finally see a show that shows the world from our point of view for a change.

before that, the best thing we had were "the revenge of the nerds"... a great movie btw (gotta see ti again some of these days).

Can't that be applied to any sitcom? from Fiends to Seinfeld? actually, most comedies these days rely on referential humor. BBT simply does these for a part of the audience that 5 years ago always saw their representatives doomed to support cast to appear once every season.

BBT is funny for like, 1 episode. Then you realize is just LOL NERDS and nothing more.

If you actually expected anything more, than you really got the wrong show, buddy.

oh ok take one american teenager into the wild let's justin beaver how long would he last.

i'm not saying evolution should create super species i'm saying 10000yrs+ of living and you evolved and become weaker. why?

Because, as men devoleped tools and started to change the environment to their needs, instead of doing as every other mammal on the planet and adapt to theirs, we actually found a way out.

Because of agriculture, because of pecuary, because people start to build houses instead of find shelter under a tree or a cave, because we decided to make our own rules instead of following what nature dictated, Men is no longer subject to natural evolution. While we don't have big claws, big fangs or a huge body, we did something that no other animal did: we got out of the game.

because of human society, everyone has the chance to procreate, not only the "stronger" types. so we are "weaker" because both weaks and strongs can pass their genes foward.

and I guarantee you that, if not for that, 99% of this board would not even be born.

Google "Chroma Key" to have some tips on how to do a proper backdrop.
I would say to use green or blue so its easier to remove.

second, make sure the backdrop is homogeneous. the one you are using there have too many folds and shadows, which will make it a bitch to clean. you will want to use some movie making software, since it makes the work much easier.

this is pretty much what you should try to aim for

tip: Don't be afraid of looking ridiculous on this stage of the work. Using an outfit with different and clashing colors WILL make it easier to do create palettes later on.

faz ela voar criando asas
