I've never sprited in my life and I want to re-sprite Evil Ryu for my Mugen character in his look from SF4. It is extremely difficult for me :(
Ok I ripped some of his gi and added what is trying to be that hole in his chest..


The stance is not right  :-\ But I don't have any idea how to go about it.. Am I supposed to draw his upper body from scratch? :S

I don't know if this goes here :S I'm on a 64-bit Windows 7 and I'm having no luck getting sprmaker or sprmake2 to work. The old sprmaker doesn't work at all, and sprmake2 is giving me a 'side-by-side configuration is incorrect' error. I've tried SFF2Turbo, with no luck. What's happening, how to resolve this??

I could be the stupidest thing but basically it is what the topic name says, I can't pinpoint this problem where I get a dashfwd/hopback from this weird combination of commands even though I've checked and rechecked the .cmd a billion times and it clearly says ~F, F and ~B, B.

Don't know what piece of code helps but here's everything to do with the dash:

PotS: Ryu was my favourite character ever back in the day.
Vans: His stuff is just great and very helpful guy. His coding always comes in handy, thanks a lot.
CCIronmugen: Way before I was into KOF I still liked his characters. Now that I'm into KOF I can appreciate them more.
Warusaki3: Always liked his CVS characters.
GM: Really solid characters. Has the best SF3 stuff in MUGEN. Terry was one of my favourites back in the day as well.

I saw a video of Violent Ken vs. Evil Ryu (they both used SVC sprites, I think they were Chloe's). I remember that they had an intro where they both SGS'd each other before the round started. Anyway that was pretty cool for me. Then when I got around to actually downloading MUGEN I went around looking for characters. Some of the first ones I got were PotS' Ryu, which was by far my favourite character at the time (good times) and I also got a handful of Warusaki3's CVS stuff which I also really liked.

Eventually I got around to Umihei's SF3 stuff which I also enjoyed at the time. This was also the time I decided to attempt creating characters (I tried to make SF2HF Ken which went fairly smoothly but never got to throws and SF3 Ryu which didn't work out at all. Overall good learning process I guess). Eventually my interest in Capcom-related stuff diminished and got more into SNK stuff. As time passed my interest in MUGEN overall decreased and I ended up deleting all my stuff. I just got back into it, but nowadays I don't really play MUGEN, I just like coding stuff for it. I only like making KOF stuff these days although most of my characters are incomplete. As a result I guess Vans, Iron among others are some of my big inspirations in this area. Recently I tried challenging myself with Blazblue's Hakumen, but I have a feeling that one is going to take really long.

At the end of it all, I still wished I finished my own SF3 Ryu, but with GM's out and lack of creative juices I don't think I'll ever get to it.

Actually IINM F1 haven't exactly been getting faster.. I think they're actually trying to make them slower right now. But like SF2 and GG and their rehashes, they like to 'balance' stuff out year by year and keep it interesting. No one wants to watch a sport where one faction is dominating and always win. There's also many different rules that are introduced continually so teams have to re-think the development of their cars and all.

It seems to be more complicated when aligning sprites that are just... nothing like each other. Like the landing sprites, nothing stays the same each frame so I guess in that situation just go with what looks best?

Aligning by eye is actually pretty hard, especially with these sprites which are just huge by themselves. Any tips?

Also I don't know what to do with those animation files either, not familiar with the .bin format other than those game images that you burn. I tried opening with notepad, and I just get a bunch of symbols which sure aren't hexidecimals.

Actually, you'd be surprised. The execution is actually quite different than say SF and KOF. Things like HCF and QCB have limited use in Tekken, and while a lot of the 'normal' moves only require some simple direction+button affair, it can get pretty complicated depending on the character (especially in juggling) and things like EWGF (it's a sort of DP motion where you press forward, let it go neutral, then do down, downforward) is not learnt from 2D fighters because there is a VERY small frame window between the directions and the buttons that you have to meet or else the move doesn't come out. I guess having the experience from the other games certainly helps, but the skills aren't instantly transferring like you can already do any move you like etc.

Not true at all. In Smash, all the attacks include direction + button. The hardest it gets is flick the direction + button. Hell, one 'special' attack is done by simply pressing one button. Not saying SF is the hardest game in the world to learn, but I'm talking for the casual point of view here. Obviously if a game's getting more revenue, there's more casuals. If there's more casuals, the game is more casual friendly. The article mentioning casuals not being attracted to simple commands is just bull there.

From PotS' list, Guile's Super would not be unbalanced if you gave it a proper command that isn't a bitch to learn. Raging Storm would also be by no means an overpowered super with a simplified command. HSDM motions were just retarded for the point of being retarded and the fact that they were 'hidden' and 'special'; no balance issues with simplified motions because it's not like they're so good that they kill you instantly and so it warrants sporadic and random input/directional combinations. The fact that they're hidden and pretty hard to even access properly in a real fight is already a balancing factor.
