It's been a while since my last sprite but here, I give it a try to the index method and it's pretty cool !!

silly me, i didn't know it was you that's asking question on my youtube video until i saw your sprite.
I'll answer your question here instead. I'm not an expert and don't have a degree in spriting LOL, I hope that my input can help you in some way.
I made a few adjustment to your sprite that I felt was wrong.

distant of her legs seem normal when compared next to the screenshot.

keep spriting until your comfortable, once you have understanding of sprite then you can develop your own style.
it's hard to start out learning a specific style.
Like artist first learn anatomy to develop a style, they don't learn anatomy from other people artwork because other people work/style are exaggerate from human anatomy. Once an artist knows human anatomy they can exaggerate to make their own style.
my 3 step method.
i used this method for strider cps3, too much detail on the sketch will be very smudgy when scale down.

Strider Base on Mvc3
This is for those who want to try sf3 spriting but doesn't have the confident, I'm sharing my palette sheet for those who want to try it.
All the palette are official from the original sprite, they are not custom palette. I reduced the heavy amount of palette to 8 tone for each shade of color, this is my method of making sf3 sprite. Think of these palette as a base guide.
Once you are confident enough you can just add more tone on top of it to make certain area brighter or darker.
any color that was a close value next to each other i cancel out one of them, that's my palette reduction method for the palette sheet.
as you can see from necro example, you couldn't tell the difference on his skin tone if the original sprite wasn't there to compare.

there's a free program call XNA LARA it loads game rip model and you can pose them.
