No it's not. The practice of sex change operations is prohibited in Sunni Islam, because that's deemed "changing the creation of God"; as in your gender is your gender, and you can't change that, God's final decision and stuff. That's in Sunni Islam. Since almost everybody is a Shiite in Iran, I'm not sure about that.Well, Turkey is mostly Sunni according to Wikipedia, so my mistake.
What I mean to say is that the concept itself is prohibited in Sunni Islam (the original Islam). But just because it is prohibited, doesn't mean that people will listen.
