Great series and perhaps the only single player FPS I care about.

The Half Life games were revolutionary at their time because of their engines. Source blew me away the first time I played HL2 and the amount of environment interaction in HL was awesome thanks to GoldSrc.

Unfortunately Valve is just using the HL2 Episodes as tech tests for Source upgrades (but very enjoyable tech tests I must admit)

My point still stands. The industry just caters to countless sequels and to demographics. I know this happened during the 90's with Genesis/SNES and PSX/N64 generations but not as much during THIS generation. Seriously, how many Guitar Heroes/Rock Bands and Wii waggle-based fitness have entered the market?

In the 90's, there were many different types of games then than there are now. Creativity played a huge role, creating many different titles, different perspectives, etc. Who would have thought about a protagonist being a spider who climbs walls, avoids being crushed by humans, and avoiding hazards? Pretty much, games then were made by designers who created what they wanted, not to cater to a certain demographic. Im not saying that now these titles don't exist, hell, you can see them as Flash games or downloadable games via the Xbox Live Arcade. These are the titles I play, the ones with originality and which even got me into MUGEN.

I understand big game developers creating to certain demographics (First person shooters, casual gamers) but for the people who have been around since the start, like you and me, their lack in new IPs and originality is something to be desired.

You're thinking shovelware. Those Guitar Heroes or Rock Bands or whatever are made for casual people, those 13 year olds who'll buy anything that has Halo or Guitar Hero in the title. Kinda like the market that Sonic the Hedgehog is now aimed at.

We're still getting good games, whether they're original or not they're still good.

No thanks.

If someone's that desperate I suggest getting a whore. Or use your right hand, that one's free.

Titiln is certainly right.

Take off those nostalgia goggles, those great old games you're mentioning Rynestar have at least a one year gap between them. Same as nowadays, we get few good games per year, but if we look at good games per decade we can see that the numbers are pretty close.

The only problem is that now we're getting a lot of the same since original concepts are pretty dead. Everything's been done except weird gameplay hybrids.

And answering OP's question, yes. Hype was always a huge part in gaming, like when you were reading a gaming magazine and was like "WHOAH TMNT 4: Turtles in Time seems like a great game! Can't wait to play it!"

Well thats rude as hell, u could at least ask about the fighting system then if thats not thought out ur criticism would have some small point. --;

Since it hasn't I'll ask now, whats going to be the thing that ties their gameplay together. You have a full game here, just random moves for characters is not going to be interesting in a full game setting.

I've seen sonicfactor's work, both in sprites and character coding. Also:

Quote
2-5 Button Smashing Characters For You To Choose *depending on the character*

Characters won't even share button scheme? That's telling me enough.

There was one program that allowed that.

It was Mugen Windows Configurator. It allowed you to visually edit the select.def and it had a tournament mode frontend.

Get it here: http://bytezero.mgbr.net/

Lower the amount of damage from the normal buster, it's easily spammable and deals way more damage than a super.

The Head Dash is easily spammable as well.

It's getting a PC release, right? Right?

I suppose you're using the old EVE screenpack, which used a filter.

Just look in mugen.cfg in your data folder for DoubleRes and change it to 0

Texture hacks have been around since forever.

You just need Project64 and Rice Daedalus (I think) video plugin.

The stance is hilarious.

But at least it's a smoothly animated one unlike the 99.9% of the other stick-figure characters.
