in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- (Started by LurkerSupreme May 19, 2013, 03:27:57 pmArc System Works has detailed the new game modes in the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions of Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign, as well as teased at least one still to be announced playable character.
Story Mode
A new mode continuing further than the story of the arcade version. The story will be told through an adventure game-like format, but will try new things to set it apart from the norm.
Find a outline of the story below.
October 21, 2187. 12:12 p.m.
A young woman who calls herself Ramlethal Valentine has declared war against the world. Not a single individual, organization, or countries took this declaration as a laughing matter. Because of the prior “Baptism 13 Incident,” during which the capital of the Illyria Kingdom suffered a violent assault, the attacker also referred to herself as “Valentine.” Now, to make sure of the truth of the matter, the world must take action.
Network Mode
With the home console release, you can play online against players across the country. Cross-platform play will allow PlayStation 4 owners and PlayStation 3 owners the ability to play together. Additionally, both versions of the game can share save data and trophies.
Tutorial and Challenge Modes
In the home console release, Arc System Works has not only re-adjusted game modes that appeared in the arcade version, but added new Tutorial and Challenge modes, too.
Tutorial Mode will let newcomers hone their skills and learn how to play. Challenge Mode will let players put to the test the practical operation of their characters.
M.O.M. Mode
M.O.M. Mode, or Medal of Millionaire Mode, is a single-player mode where players fight against AI-controlled characters to earn medals that strengthen your character. Using the medals you obtain, it’s possible to purchase new skills and items in this RPG-like character development mode.
There are plans to support network play in this mode.
New Character(s)
A new character(s) is being added to the home console release. As for which new character(s) is participating, however, you’ll have to wait for a future update.
All existing characters will return, including Ramlethal Valentine, who was added to the arcade version of the game post-launch.
Resolution
On PlayStation 4, the game is rendered in full-high definition 1080p.

in fighting games news that dont deserve their own thread (Started by Niitris May 08, 2014, 11:34:32 pmfrom Ishaan from Siliconera.
Just so everyone's clear on this, Sports Nippon is a reputable publication in Japan, which is why we bothered running this report at all. The newspaper has been around since 1948, and Sponichi is their online space.
We looked at the Event Hubs report, then looked at the source, discussed its background, and only decided to run the news following that. We also made sure to translate Haruhiro Tsujimoto's quote exactly as it was quoted in Sponichi, just to make sure that we were being as accurate to the source of the news as possible.
My personal advice would be to consider both sides—what Sponichi reported and what Ono said over Twitter. Ono is knowing for being a passionate game developer, and I'm sure he'd be rather horrified at the prospect of turning Street Fighter into a pay-to-win franchise. Note that Capcom, unlike Namco and Tecmo, have not even attempted a free-to-play model with their fighting games yet, and going by statements made in the past, this is at least in part due to Ono.
On the other hand, I don't think Sponichi pulled that report out of their rear ends either. It's an awfully specific thing to say, and to attribute it to Capcom's CEO is a bold thing to do. No professional would do that without being prepared for dire consequences if they were wrong.
So, in a nutshell, consider both sides. I'm sure Ono doesn't want this to happen personally. At the same time, Ono is not Capcom's president/CEO.

in fighting games news that dont deserve their own thread (Started by Niitris May 08, 2014, 11:34:32 pmThe SFV news today about a pay to win model is not accurate and isn't something we're planning for.https://twitter.com/Yoshi_OnoChin/status/476840797719904256
Sorry for the confusion! We're still in early planning stages and will share more at a later date.https://twitter.com/Yoshi_OnoChin/status/476840892934787073

in Ultra Street Fighter 4 (Started by SNT July 17, 2013, 06:59:46 amKarin's not a Sakura look-alike. Karin plays and looks completely different from Sakura. There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to have Karin in the game. But there's absolutely something wrong with being so obsessed you're painting a picture of yourself as doing pullups with a Karin tattoo on your back in front of a shrine to Karin.

That is one thing I will not do and it is not over. I wait for E3 to get my questions answered since they are going to be there.
Do anyone have the cellphone game called Street Fighter X Capcom? Because Karin may be in that game if she is that means they have fixed the copyright against her.
Okay and I wanted R. Mika in USFIV but you don't see me crusading about it. Take everyone's advice and deal with it.
Same here. Your character isn't coming back, stop it before you make it worse.

in Ultra Street Fighter 4 (Started by SNT July 17, 2013, 06:59:46 amTrue, but once upon a time, it used to be more conclusive to the individual artists over the giant corporations here in the US, as well. It really should be this way.
If an sole illustrator / writer, making 50k per year or less, comes up with a hit character, the published materials that character was used in make the corporation big $ and then they have to court that creator's mind with a higher fee and licensing rights the next time they want to feature them. The creator is awarded for coming up with a really good character, the same way a CEO gets his golden parachute for tanking the company into the ditch...oh wait.
If Japan has kept its laws in favor of the individual creator, then I should move to Japan immediately, because things just get more skewed here all the time.
