I didn't claim it to be accurate (even though I am still trying,heck), and no I never actually played the entire game as a series or the franchise. I based this on my own knowledge and tried to follow it, but thanks for the advice will look into it.
Btw, should the Arc Drives randomize, seems like there were two of them, I watched the video for the last arc, hence I think exshielding was the "D" button.
I did play the source game, mostly in training mode, hence some moves should act accordingly to the game, but just the amount of combos that is available for this character might be hard to find, unless I should just look at the Wiki o-o.
Arc Drives don't randomize, you got the standard Arc-Drive from Heat or Max mode, or Another Arc Drive during Blood Heat, which tends to be more stronger, comes out faster, has longer hit range, than the standard Arc Drive (Whether it is faster, or has better range depends on the character)
And yeah, "d" is used for Shielding, and Bunkers. (D, B, d)
Successful Ex-Shields are done by Shielding attacks within the first few frames, if held any longer, then it's be a normal shield hit.
Also, I think whatever button you think you may have assigned for "d" is the macro for "e" which is a shortcut for various actions, going by your last post.

Maybe they're labeled that way because they'll act very closely to their source game material while having a few more extra things.
Kinda like how LB went from Original > EX > Memorial > Converted, updated versions have the same stuff plus more features.
