A Problem With This Website URL

If I type in mugenguild.com in my browser, it takes me to this place without any problems.

However, if I type www.mugenguild.com, it says it cannot find the website. I think a few mugen fans are probably typing the site the second way and thinking it is down!

Thought I would let you guys know.

"I can't decide whether this should be fixed where the sprite should be lowered, or just add SFII style shadows for everyone in the process."

I'd leave it as-is, or reposition them on the x-axis without adding SF2 shadows (they would look weird against other mugen chars).

This is truly a remarkable work in progress, kind of like a Shang-Tsung for Street Fighter 2! How do you intend to create the palettes? Is any boss mode planned?

I agree with TheNOGoodThief.

What Cybaster said made me realize that the walking animation is meant to convey a mocking attitude, but it isn't very apparent. Maybe a sly smile would make it look a lot better. It feels like the entire concept would be more well-suited for the walkback animation ('come at me you little sissy!')

Still impressive work guys.

Thanks for everything Cyanide. I've been a long-time lurker, and you have made Mugen a much better place, through your help, feedback, patience, and creativity.

Wish you the best fortune and life! If you are leaving, drop by from time to time just to say hello, since your presence here will be heavily missed.

Hilarious readme! I typically play with the character before reading the readme.

I didn't think that the crashing was a 'feature', lol. In my view, having a shit character in your roster is punishment enough.
Don't really know who caused the crash, as it was in my test mugen folder (the one where the crap is separated from the rest and then moved to my main game).

It may give a person the wrong first impression, though, as it suggests there is something wrong with your character. As for the number of power bars *goes into char cns file* "power = 99000 ; I GOT 99 PROBLEMS BUT A BITCH AIN'T ONE"

lol! You crack me up. Your Felicia is over 9000. You're Winner!

Thank you very much for this character JZ!

She plays very well, and is more to my taste than the CVS version you made.

I haven't tried the latest Feb 18 version, but just played with the Feb 15 version using Winmugen.

After one match, it crashed with this error: "Error message: State machine stuck in loop (stopped after 2500 loops): 69 for Felicia_LG
Check you states for infinite ChangeState loops.

Strangely, it crashed right after the first opponent was defeated and before the second fight loaded.

Other than that, I'm enjoying it a lot. Oh, (on some of her modes?), the special bar doesn't fill up. It just shows '1', '2', '3' when she has a super available, but the bar doesn't show it. Is this intentional?

I've got to try it out some more.

Good point. This is one of the big reasons why people make different mugen rosters. As for me though, nothing in mugen pisses me off more than a character that unfairly wins against me. Rarely, I like the character despite the AI and will put a "rank = 0" in the def file (so I can play as that character but never face him in arcade mode).

I hope he finally implements a damage dampener and better (less cheap) AI. As it is, I don't use his stuff.

Thanks to Balthazar, Cybaster, Choujin, miaoyu and sammy for creating good DBZ characters.

It's quite rare to see, but it's special when you get to see it. Oh, and XCB for his Android18 (almost forgot!).  :P

Anyone else gets this error? Are the updates to Ryunmei good?

Thank you Woody and Cazaki for clarifying some things.

Yeah, words may be just words, but they can always be misinterpreted/senseless/hurtful to another person. Especially for a creator like Werewood, who probably did take some comments too seriously, but who also cared about the community at large.

If he didn't, why would he work his butt off and make his stuff publicly available? Even now, he states that his work is open source, and anyone is free to improve it! Much respect for someone to leave with dignity like that, and *still* give something back even with the unfortunate turn of events that happened.

And before anyone says, "But dude, I think his work sucks and creator X was much better!" you can gtfo. A) It's not a competition. B) I think that objectively it is easy to see that Werewood improved quite a lot. Not all of his stuff was at the same level, but so what? Take what you like, and be happy. C) Plenty of Werewood's releases were universally praised here, and I find his work very entertaining. D) It's not easy being a creator; if it were, everyone would be one.

My point is that some people may be too trigger-happy when giving feedback/criticism. It's often quite easy to tell when that makes a creator uncomfortable. Continuing beyond this point-especially when it involves ganging up-is akin to kicking someone when they're down.

I think creators can also do their part by saying 'this character is on hold for the moment', 'accepting feedback', 'not accepting feedback/wait for the patch'; this may make it easier for everyone.

I also think that some people may not realize that individuals may be drawn to mugen not just because they like fighting games/sprite editing/programming/etc., but because they want to be a part of a community, and they want to be accepted. For many people, it's a cold and lonely world, and when they feel rejected or mistreated here, it hurts them deeper than someone who thinks 'it's ONLY a message board!'.

I think there are lessons to be learned here, and if MFG learns them, it could grow stronger as a result. If not, it could alienate individuals that would otherwise be strong supporters, and would wither and die like so many other places on the net.

Werewood,

I thank you for all of your dedication throughout these years. I'm just a leech, but I have enjoyed very much some of your releases, particularly the Queen and the Final Fight beat-em-up stage you did; it kicks ass!

I only drop here from time to time, and don't know the entire drama surrounding your retirement. However, it's pretty clear that you didn't feel comfortable with the way the community pressured you into developing characters a certain way.

Note to the community: different creators have different standards and different ways of doing things. Back in the day Reu (since he was mentioned in this thread) made very cheap characters. They had some awesome moves, sprites, and comboability, and the cheapness was his stylistic choice.

If a creator like Warewood wants to say: "Listen, this is the way I do things. This is the standard that I abide by. I know it isn't perfect, but I'm happy with it, and so are many other people. I'd like feedback in order to make this release as good as (insert past release here), but beyond that I'm not going to invest the time to try and please everyone." - that's his prerogative!

He should be able to create anything he pleases, really. If someone has feedback and they feel it isn't being listened to enough, then stop giving feedback and move on. I think most people know that Werewood creates in a certain style, Pots created in a certain style, Warusaki3, Cyanide, etc.

I don't see the point of bashing a creator for following their own beliefs and preferences. Even if they release 'too many' creations in a short time-span, that is their decision. The sky won't fall if they don't fix them when you want to, or if they aren't very polished on release. If you want a more polished release, then wait a month and chances are the author updated their work.

And until an author says, "I'd like people's opinions on this." maybe it isn't the best idea to give feedback/ideas for pages at a time, and certainly not to complain if said author doesn't care about them.

As a community, we should make people's experiences here more enjoyable, (which often translates into cutting people some slack) not just trying to get what we want all of the time.

Maybe, (just maybe) this would encourage more people to create things for mugen, and breathe new life into it.

Well, this was my long diatribe, but I mainly wanted to thank you Werewood; I found your dedication and enthusiasm impressive. Best wishes for all of your future endeavors. (Don't delete your mugen stuff. Keep it just for old time's sake, and let the bad experiences go. :P)

P.S.
Some people don't speak English natively, so communication can often break down as a result. Using respect and common sense can go a long way, for both creators and those giving feedback.

P.P.S.
Being a stuck-up asshole isn't cool.

Actually, watermelons are one of the most delicious fruit! It's a shame that it is rare to buy SEEDED watermelons, because the unseeded ones taste like crap.

But if you ever taste a REAL watermelon, with it's sweetness and full aroma, then you're never going to speak badly about them again! Heh, here's yet another thing we can thank GMO foods and (artificial) fattener for; making perfectly good fruit taste like rubbish!
