My Final Words

September 30, 2011, 02:12:54 pm View in topic context

After a few days of being banned from MFG, I decided to write some final words.

I had mixed feelings about MUGEN:  both enjoyable and frustrated.
Enjoyable (2004-09 to 2010-07 as a user):  browsing and leeching new releases, news reporting, requesting, fulfilling requests, MUGEN gossip....etc.
Frustrated (2010-08 to 2011-09 as a contributor):  releasing->get bashing->defending->get more bashing->more defending->getting warned->getting
cold->releasing->get bashing->.....looping

During my defending actions, I caused many messy troubles.  Here I sincerely apologize for all of my messy actions.

When a hobby begins to bring more frustration than joy, it is time to make a switch.

Before MUGEN, I was frequenting at the game emulation and 0dayz scenes (since 2000).  I had my enjoyable moments like my MUGEN case.
I was also contributing different kinds of things to the scenes especially providing "made-in-China" stuff and doing Chinese translation works.
When I was contributing for these scenes, I didn't feel any frustration because I didn't have to worry about feedbacks and comments and nobody was
bashing me like hell.  The worst cases were just something like "please re-upload your ISOs/ROMs", "your FTP/irc fserver is down", "your movies Chinese
subtitles have errors", "your 0dayz news is duplicated", "we are still waiting for your made-in-China pirated/unlicensed cart",....etc.  Easy fixes, easy
pass, easy going, no frustration at all.

Since my MUGNE'ing, I have had missed a lot of the scenes updates and old scenes friends.  There are tons of new gamez and appz and moviez that I don't
have time to finish because I have been spending most of my time on MUGEN.  Now I will switch my hobby back to the game emulation and 0dayz scenes where
I can find more joy than frustration.

Local-wise, I have just deleted all my MUGEN stuff (44.8 GB) from my PC and destroyed my 12 MUGEN data CDs/DVDs, to make sure no MUGEN trace left.

Online-wise,
My MUGEN username Werewood and e-mail account werewood@ymail.com, I didn't use them outside MUGEN.
I will not touch them anymore and let them wither.
My MUGEN YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/werewood, I didn't use them outside MUGEN too.
I will also not touch it anymore and let it wither.
And I will not marketing/promote/introduce MUGEN to anyone else anymore.

I planned to shut down my MUGEN web page, http://page.freett.com/werewood/mugen.html, but later on I decided to keep it there until it dies.
It is because I think no matter how shitty and bad my MUGEN stuff is, I believe there are some people who might be interested in my MUGEN stuff.
For those who want to edit/update/improve my MUGEN stuff, just go ahead.  Now all my MUGEN stuff is open-source.

Before I go, I would like to thank a number of people:
- Elecbyte, for making a dream fighting game engine that has given me years of fun.
- Nunor, for creating the most popular MUGEN online community and allowing me be an early news reporter.
- Electrocaid, for fulfilling many of my MUGEN requests.
- GM, my MUGEN #1 Idol, who doesn't know me but inspired me of the importance of bosses mugenization
- Cybaster, my MUGEN #2 Idol, who inspired me with:  "Pleasing other people is nice, but when creating for Mugen, you're supposed to please yourself
  first."
- Violin Ken aka Corntortillas, for improving my SF4 Golden Seth.
- Mr. I aka Orbinaut, for improving and updating my SF4 Juri Han.
- Toshio and Velvet-san, for sending me many words of comfort.
- BoyBoyz, for his intensive caring of my KOFXIII Saiki beta, yo BoyBoyz now it is your responsibility to finish our Saiki beta!
  Wait for Insanius' sprites too!
- necro_rk, for making palettes for my Bai-Hu and Wyler
- Fido, I went for SF mugenization partly because of you!  Most importantly we speak the same language.
- Recycler, for his SF4/SSF4AE game hacking help.  Most importantly we speak the same language.
- Boomer, for letting me try his OMK Battler.  Most importantly we speak the same language.
- sakuraka, for being my newest MUGEN friend (well my last MUGEN friend too)  Most importantly we speak the same language.
- Basara-kun and Iced, for nominating my MUGEN stuff for COTM
- Rajaa, for teaching me a few mental lessons.  Yes, "Newbies"/"MUGEN Pros"/"MLM" are my excuses for my laziness.
A lazy person can never be a good MUGEN contributor.  Only hard-working persons like you can mugenize such a flawless stylish Arcueid!
- Any other people who have been giving me healthy feedbacks and accepting my slow improvement.

Thank you for your time.

Good luck in your MUGEN life!

People, please read read read with attention:

If you keep telling me to stop, then I will keep defending for myself by posting unnecessarily.

Every time you tell me to stop, I will double up my deeds.

From now on I will not update and fix all my current and future MUGEN stuff because all of my serious updates and fixes are futile -- no matter how many times I try hard to update and fix, people still ask me to stop
Improvements are futile too because just a waste of my time.

All I do now is keeping releasing things that are meant to be hated.  I don't care if my MUGEN stuff are liked or disliked or good/bad quality I don't need improvements now and I only want to have this or that character for my MUGEN.  I just love to make MUGEN stuff for myself to leech and play with.

Don't reply and give good/bad feedbacks to all of my current and future release topics.  I just want a mere single release topic by me without being polluted here.

Please give some mercy to a poor newbie like me by not replying to all of my current and future release topics to make me feel peaceful by stop telling me to stop anything.

In essence, I just want to make MUGEN things I want.  I wanted people's healthy feedbacks to improve before but now I don't need anymore.  And yes, I won't stop because my MUGEN MLM spirit is solid.

Thank you.

Just can't focus on one single char.!  I can't help but keep the ball rolling........ :ball:
You need to learn to focus, period.
You don't "need" other creator's to do anything but critique your material.  You "need" to stop complaining, focus and view over your own flaws in creating.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

You are very wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not one who start "complaining", that are other reckless persons who start it all!  All of my replies are my defending actions!  You have how to read?????????

I only need other MUGEN Pros to do better versions of my MUGEN stuff ONLY IF/ONLY WHEN they and other people keep telling me to stop my MUGEN activities.  Don't you understand such simple logic???

The simple logic:

- if you don't start attacking me and telling me to stop my MUGEN activities, then I don't need to defend for myself by posting unnecessarily.

Are you, like some other people, telling me to stop my MUGEN activities?  If so, then I will just give you my same damned answer:
"You cannot stop me at all by just saying it.  If you (and other MUGEN Pros) release a better version of all of my current and future MUGEN stuff then I will stop."

Please read with attention.  Even I have bad eyes I pay attention when reading.........

About about focusing, no I have my mental problem which I cannot control myself.
"Anybody suffering from this mental problem???"

I really want to place my dirtiest curses on anyone who keeps telling me to stop stop stop!!!!!!!! >:D >:D >:D >:D

About the bomb drop, how about this change:  the dropped bomb will blow off after some time but I still don't want Link to be hit by his own bombs.........

About bomb hold, how about adding the animation time of the bomb throw sprite?  Like increase it by 30-50 ticks?

About fairy super, how about I change Link to be hittable when he is drinking the potion?

And, I need to make my characters from strong to unfair in order to be able to beat other hard and unfair A.I.
For example, an edited KFM with infinite priorities and invincibility and unfair A.I., how can my characters win them without being the same cheapness?

I can consider to make non-boss character less broken.  But for bosses, they are meant to be cheap and unfair.

Ugh.... Ask. Dude. Ask. It's like you're not trying hard enough on that department.

And I'm going to give feedback now.

- First off why the hell does he have infinite priority. There is a difference between infinite priority and high priority.
- All his projectiles are indestructible. And it does not help that the items do not go away. Hell, give the bomb placement a limited amount of time before it blows up like Hsien Ko's super. Heck, it makes more sense that it will also damage him a bit if he stays too close to it when it blows up (like in Hsien Ko's bomb super and in the Zelda Games). Heck, you can hold the bomb and throw it later but hold it too long, you will get hurt.
- His healing super is too safe to do.His potion is indestructible. The opponent cannot pick it up to use it and he's invulnerable during the whole thing. Healing in fighting games are a risk-reward thing, and this one is all reward with no risk.
- Glitchy. I will say this, I fought him. He did his Faerie Summon and dropped a potion. I KOed him, he lands on his potion. Round ends, but will not go to Round 2.

you know what? I once tried to send PM to some MUGEN Pros to ask but it turned out they banned my PM so I give up finding betatesters

- infinite priority you mean his sword doesn't have blue clsn box?  I can make a patch that a blue clsn box will be added to every of his swords
- I have red clsn box inside blue blsn box for his projectiles so they should be destructible.....hmmm....I will investigate more about it
- my idea of bomb drop is this:  Link can drop as many bombs as he like and the bombs blow up only when P2 touches them.  Link should not get hurt by touching his own bombs because he can drop so many bombs in the screen, so I am not going to change my bomb drop idea.......sorry about that.......
- there are no bomb holding sprites so bomb holding move is not available
- since the fairy super is not an attack, so it is important to give full invincibility to Link during this move; it  this move attacks P2 too then it should have been vulnerable
- the round ends glitch I will take a look into it

Thanks for your healthy feedback that is what I want to know  ;)

Have you even considered asking Cybaster, Nanashi, or O. Gill.... *list goes on with loads of testers here* to Beta Test for you?

Just ask dude, sometimes it takes asking to get something right.

I told you no freaking body wants to be my betatester either they are too busy or have 0 interest.  Most likely most people hate me  :-\

Hey everyone I'm Vanquish and I just decided to post an introduction thread to maybe break the ice with some users.
I'm new to the spriting world, and maybe you guys can post on my intro thread or private message me some links to a tutorial or two.
I've always been intrigued with sprites but never learned how to do them, hopefully coming here I can learn.
I'm a 17 year old living in Louisiana, and it's actually my birthday tomorrow, the 28th.
Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction.

Happy b-day to you!  (it's 28th at my place)
Can't wait to see your awesome sprites!

How many characters did you release? 30 or so within the past year, right? Have ANY of them been stated as good? I doubt it.

For goodness sake, instead of working on 9001 characters work ONLY on 1. Have people betatest for bugs. INDEX PROPERLY. And learn how to Code and CLSN.

Hey I don't need any of my MUGEN stuff to be stated as good.  I want just healthy feedbacks that let me know what things I should fix, instead of telling me to take a break or stop.   No healthy/unhealthy feedbacks at all also works too that means I don't need to spend time on fixing and updating.

>> instead of working on 9001 characters work ONLY on 1.
No because I have this mental problem:  "Anybody suffering from this mental problem???"

Well, these are what I need to do from time to time............slowly............... :thinking2:

Is it a MUGEN requirement  :deal2: that for all MUGEN releases by everybody especially newbies the stuff must need to be perfect and no updating and fixing are allowed when posting release topics for the first time?"   :???:

Are there many MUGEN authors who don't rely on healthy feedbacks to fix things that they cannot notice by themselves?   :help:

Do you consider a MUGEN author that needs constant fixing and updating as a very weak MUGEN author?   >_<

Is having some bugs when posting a release topic the first time so unacceptable?    :toilet:

Shall a MUGEN author whose first-time release topic containing of some bugs that awaits to be fixed be told to quit MUGEN?

What if a MUGEN author who is willing to provide fixes (the fixes are there) is asked to quit MUGEN?   :whip:

And some MUGEN authors make release topics just because they don't know what they do wrong so they need people's healthy feedbacks that allow them to do updates and fixes in order to improve!  :wall:

Look at recent Mouser's Earthquake(KOF Style) release, even a MUGEN Pro like him needs several times to fix and update his characters!   :o

Werewood, could you stop telling people to make other versions of your character?

I keep telling because people keep asking me to stop, so simple!  :o

If people stop asking me to stop or take a break then I will stop telling them to make better versions of my MUGEN stuff, so simple too!   :o :o

If you (and other MUGEN Pros) release a better version of all of my current and future MUGEN stuff then I will stop.

A certain JZ quote would be appropriate right around now

JZ quote has nothing to do with my statement.  The quote just mentioned a MUGEN author's responsibility.  My statement is about how people who hate me can stop me.

I know this is my own MUGEN stuff and it is my responsibility to take care of and I am willing to update and fix if people give healthy feedbacks instead of asking me to take a break or stop.  Luis Alejandro/dshiznetz was asking me to take a break or stop while I am gathering people's healthy feedbacks in order to fix my Link.  If you don't like my MUGEN stuff then you can just ignore my release topics but DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T ask me to take a break or stop!  I really hate it when I read something like that  :furious3:

That's immature and childish, unnecessary and annoying.
