I think the amount of topic splitting is getting a bit out of control at the moment. I can understand that the new mods are quite gung ho about their jobs, but It's making topics hard to follow.  The Iced/Titiln threads, the KOF XII ones, etc.

you shouldnt be on the internet without at least sp2.

Probably true, but I've never had a problem with the AV/Malware solutions I'm using.

Anyway, I got it to run by downloading  SDL.dll and replacing the one that comes with RC1.

Also, is it just me or does ALT+Enter not work anymore?

Looks like I can't run it either.

Win XP SP 1
Athalon XP 3000+
GEforce 5200
1 GB of ram

Crashes immediately.

Interesting to see where this is gonna go though, I'm a bit apprehensive since it's unclear how many of the original team members are on this new team.

no, cheating defeats the point.  If I come up against a stupid AI guy or boss while playing I'll continue until I beat them or my hands start to ache.  Usually takes about 50 or so rematches before the latter starts to happen.

Can we have video embedding in the Mugen Videos thread in Mugen Discussion? It would make it alot easier to actually browse that thread and a single extra thread with embedding shouldn't cause excessive load times.

I know there is an updated kusa on the authors page now, but I liked the old version, I think it's the version you were sending to people when the author originally took kusa off his page...that's the one I want :D

FYI the updated one on the authors page is the same.  If anything was even changed, it was bug fixes.  There's really no reason to request the old one.

(It deleted the part of the convo that had anything about me being a jew, but kept going and getting longer than the origional was)
not really offended but still its a dick thing to program in

It's not programmed.

Here's a quote from wikipedia, which covers Jabberwacky, Cleverbot's built on the same system.

Quote
The technology behind Jabberwacky works on a different principle to that of other artificial intelligence software being developed. The system is designed to learn language and context through interaction with humans. There are no fixed rules or principles programmed into the system and it operates entirely through user interaction. The system stores all of the conversations and user comments and attempts to use this information to find the most appropriate response.

The program therefore creates a massive database of contextually appropriate conversations and chooses an appropriate response it has learnt from a previous user when holding a conversation.

The system is also designed to speak foreign languages and claims to be able to learn and respond appropriately if enough information is provided. In a similar way the system claims to be able to learn slang English, games, jokes and word games - even song lyrics.

Good character.

+Kof short and long jumps
+cannot crouch while running
+movelist only available in practice mode
+Multiple modes and grooves
+clsn's look good, though not sure if KOF accurate.
+super sparks accurate to each groove (nice attention to detail.)
-Max mode activation is tied to C for 98-adv and 2002 modes, and cannot be done by x+y+a or y+a respectively.
-Power charge is tied to C for 98-EX mode and cannot be done with x+y+a
-2002 SDM is performed using C instead of a+b

Has 98-EX, 98-ADV, 2002, XI and random grooves.
All grooves have appropriate bars, (yes, XI has skillbar)

Has normal mode and 98UM EX-Andy mode by holding start.

Hi! I have a big problem with my MUGEN.
I linked certain music files of mine to a few stages. Everytime I play in one of those stages, there is a very high chance that my MUGEN would crash, right after the battle intro (i.e.: right when the music should start).
All of my soundtracks are .mp3 files.
My PC is very good and new. Also, I've downloaded a separate MUGEN fullgame, and it never crashes because of the music.
Is there some configuration setting I could change to avoid this problem? I don't think it is related to the "volume" setting in the stage's .def file, is it? Do the music files need to be smaller? Is there a set suggested max file dimension? Is there some downloadable tool that can help with this problem? Are the .mp3 files the source of the problem? I wouldn't want to resort to .midi files...

Seems like it's hit and miss with some people.  I only use the In_mp3.dll and rarely have problems.

mugen.cfg

;List Winamp-compatible plugins here.
  ;Specify the filename of the plugin and the list of file types to
  ;use the plugin for. One plugin per line.
  ;Example: plugin = plugins/my_plugin.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
  ;
  ;If music is not looping with a particular plugin, you can try an
  ;optional first argument looptype=1 (seek to zero; may stutter)
  ;or looptype=2 (reload plugin; slow).
  ;Example: plugin = looptype=1, plugins/my_plugin.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
plugin = looptype=1, plugins/in_mp3.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
plugin = plugins/in_vorbis.dll, ogg
plugin = plugins/in_adx.dll, adx

Also make sure you actually have the In_MP3.dll in the plugin folder.

Also, here's some more minor troubles I've incurred into:
- Some stages I downloaded have a "stage intro". I would like to disable those, to be able to watch the characters' own intros (and sometimes, to select a groove before the time runs out!). I'm sure there's a way to do it... a 0/1 switch, maybe? What's the line I should look for?

Depends on whose stages, some creators have an on/off line of code.

for example from The following stage by Mini43

Cvs2k-neogeoLand.def

;;;;;;;;;;;;OPTION ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

;;;;;;;   INTRO switch ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

[bgctrldef 1]

CtrlID = 50

[BGCtrl 1]
type = Enable
time = 0
value = 0

[BGCtrl 1]
type = Enable
time = 0
value = 1  ;ON          <<<<<<<   value = 0 ;OFF  value = 1  ;ON

- I have downloaded a screenpack. In this screenpack, the Player 1 cursor appears, by default, on the first character of the roster, and the Player 2 cursor appears on the second character of the roster. How do I change it so the Player 2 cursor starts on the last character of the roster?

Find these lines in your system.def

;//P2 Cursor Data//
   p2.cursor.startcell = 0,14
   p2.cursor.active.anim = 170
   p2.cursor.done.anim = 171
   p2.cursor.blink = 1      ;1 to blink p2's cursor if overlapping p1's
   p2.cursor.move.snd = 100,0
   p2.cursor.done.snd = 100,1
   p2.random.move.snd = 100,0

modify the p2.cursor.startcell until satisfied.  First number is vertical, second horizontal.

- In the character selection screen, some characters have a character portrait that is totally different from the others (most are close captions of the face, while those show like half the sprite). I'm not talking about the big ones that appear on the sides when you move the cursor over the characters, I'm talking about the ones inside the small square. How do I change those? Is there an easy way to have them look all the same?

You'll have to have or make a 25x25 palletized 256 color PCX image with color one indexed as the background color of the portrait you want, then use Fighter Factory or a similiar program to add it to the .sff file for the character as sprite 9000,0.  Delete the old 9000,0 sprite or change it's number then save the .sff and your done.  Note: Add the sprite in at the end of the .sff and as unshared palette.

-Also, I have the CvS2 lifebars, which I like a lot. Sadly, though, my characters' portraits don't quite fit in those. What should a portrait image look like to fit well in those lifebars and have a proper color? Which are the files I should replace? Also, are there pre-made portraits for CvS2 lifebars? I may use those, and copy them to make the ones I'm missing.

Never used those lifebars so I can't help much, but im sure that there are portrait packs for those out there somewhere.

PS: This is more of a resource I'm looking, but I'm not gonna make a separate post for it. I have, very recently, once again downloaded Warusaki3's CvS2 characters from his download section: I remember some talk about having separate versions of Gouki/Shin Gouki, Zangief/Mech Zangief, etc... but I only managed to find two separate Rugals. Many other characters still have both versions in the same character. Am I doing something wrong? Did I download from the wrong place? Or is it that they were just never actually separated?

Don't know about that, sorry.
