I noticed that from version 1.8 and forward, Leona now costs 80 AP in battle, which is less than what she originally was.

Allen O'Neil used to be about 400, now costs 350 - probably in part because you can now unlock his cyborg version.

One last thing - buying the level limit breaker won't bring your characters up for another 10 levels, but only 5 (limit was Lv. 20, after the 30 Medal cost, they now can be Lv. 25)

Handy to know, never really tried - been focusing on the upgrades to structure stats lately.

Finally noticed this thread.
Been playing the game a lot during my commute - the only annoyances so far at those special stages that only become available at certain times of the day (no big deal, one of those tends to match the trip back home), and the occasional mission - I haven't advanced past 25, since it takes a bit of timing, and selecting the shield soldier also covers the incoming attacks with your finger.

I love how every stage in the classic games is now assigned a location in the world, something the classics weren't necessarily specific about, although they could get fairly eloquent about it (ex: Egypt, China).

Some missions can also be pretty interesting lessons about the mechanics, such as the properties of Leona's Moon Slasher.

Well, right now there isn't a good place to move them. If/when I make this board I'll move them then of course =)

It's called Tips, Tricks & Tutorials - out of the current sections, it's the most adequate. If a new section for config tutorials eventually gets created, topic like these can be moved from the existing section to the new one.

In short, is there a strong reason against adding this? It looks like it was almost added 5 years ago.

I get the impression that most mods and admin end up expecting somebody else to do it, so ultimately nobody does - case in point, nobody has bothered to move all those topics I listed above almost 5 years ago, despite the fact that all the searching's already done, and it only takes about 2 or 3 clicks to take care of each of them.

While Ihaven't kept up with more recent developments, back in their day Splode (Rogue with multiple power sets, Randy Green levelling up and getting a menus to customize his stats accordingly) and 3ha's (2 characters in 1, including Fio from Metal Slug riding a Sentinel) stuff was pretty great.

Necromancer's original Piccollo was also pretty great - levelled up, duplicated himself and the duplicate had its own AI, lots of interesting features and tricks with help with the DBZ flavor (IIRC, having him charge his power would push opponents back). Couldn't not mention that one.

The latest KoF saga has all been about the villain group being able to manipulate time and their latest attempt to do so, with Ash messing with that further to invalidate a bunch of events.
Time and its (lack of) passage is now an established aspect of the series which can be used to explain away things like:
* everyone no longer aging after 95 (Ralf dodged the mention bullet of dealing with his 40s by getting stuck at 39, Athena will always be 18, etc...),
* the AoF crew being shifted a decade in time,
* K9999 never having existed after all, retroactively being replaced by Nameless,
* SS and LB cameos in stages or as KoF2000 strikers,
* Buriki One and Fu'un series character in XI,
* whatever other oddity you care to mention.

Balthazar, no plans to take this to Red Fight District?
Apparently Justin Wong and Luffy are going to be there, might get some good feedback at the place.

All that comes to mind right now is don't repeat comments in the same file - it's OK to be detailed early on, but after that just comment what's different from what was already commented.

Re: DC Cinematic Universe: Script? We don't need no script.

Actually, nu52 Shazam (at least the origin, I actively avoid Justice League) is one of the only things I think would lend itself well to a movie. I have no doubt Sny-Goy will find a way to screw it up, though.

I mostly saw the origin - the fact that one of the very first things the characters does is charge money for a good deed just completely misses the point... he's supposed to have earned the powers due to being better than that and than a whole lot of people young and old - and was thus supposed to get a body whose strenght would match his spirit.

Going live action should at least force the script to spend a substantial amount of time on civilian depowered mode, where young Batson can shine, if they don't get some lil' superstar-wannabe prick to wreck that...

I have a really bad feeling about this.

The fact that the article is headlined by an illustration of douche Shazam is not helping.

On the other hand, out of 9 movies at least something has to be decent - hopefully they'dd take a hint or 2 from what the animated versions did right.

A Metal Men movie seems like an odd bet though... I wonder if they'll end that one with that merged version of the team that shows up in Kingdom Come - Alloy, was it?...

about the glare, the normal version is a small non projectile like attack, to create bounce walls or bounce into the ground.
The ex version has a teleport added ONLY if he hits you, he cant teleport if its blocked.

I guess the image would have been more eloquent if the EX version wasn't depicted before the regular progression of the move - also writing "ex" in lowercase that early on makes it seem like an example, not the EXception an enhanced version of the move is supposed to be.

As for the horizontal spinning not being Freeza-ish, at least in the games, they dispute that, he uses plenty of these kind of front flip tail attacks, in just about any fighting game he's in. In Final Bout he even had a special move where he did 3 flips in a row. Plus, I think it just looks cool, and since we're going for a boss-type with Freeza, I thought this move somewhat mimicing Dictator's Knee Press Nightmare would be fitting.

No problem - I'm not too aware of the specifics of many of the games, and generally (dis)regard them as a lower level of canon relevance.
I can sort of imagine Freeza flipping around for a stomping kick off a launcher into a teleport - Goku may have that sort of thing as a major system, but combat in DBZ that tend to fall into certain pattern with occasional stand-out moves.

New stuff:

Dancing Elbow added:

Reminds me a bit of Vegeta's - how different are they meant to be functionally? Unlike Vegeta's it can't be pulled off from a back dash, I take it?

Quote
concept for a physical super; Superior Dance:

I like the final part, but the early one feels weird - maybe it's beucase I haven't watched or read his story in ages, but I don't recall him ever getting upside down during combat (he tends to play up a certain dignified posing, and that clashes a little bit with the concept), so that early spin feels weird to me - the later part, however, looks great, as him turning around to sneak in an extra tail smash on an attack (adding insult to injury) fits him.
So I'm a more partial to him spinning around a vertical axis than over a horizontal one, but that's just my view of the character.

Quote
And some concepting (by Iced) for a eye laser/glare move (which uses placeholder sprites):

Regular beam if uninterruped, beam into teleport if physically attacked?
There are other attacks out there with comparable functionality, but I'm not quite seeing the history factor there, not that it can't be handy.

What sort of command motion would it have, and how would it fits with the others he already has or will have?
I'm not a combo guy and rarely use teleports intensively, but adpating your offense immadiately to contemplate a change of direction can get tricky, and least to my less-than-stellar execution. You might want to make sure whatever attacks he can use after that aren't easily botchable into something else to to the reversed position, or at least not by an matter of an infinitesimally small amount of frames.

The real surprise there is the mention of a Shazam movie, even if there was a past abandoned attempt.

Then again, the comics themselves have been treating the character pretty poorly, as if abandoning his actual name wasn't enough, so there's cause for concern there.

It might have a chance to do well if they pay attention to what the Return of Black Adam animation did right while making it longer and leaving out Supes as a promotional crutch.

I liked League right up until Century: 2009

Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

Still, with that taking place in 2009, it doesn't affect any of the other books, which precede those events.
Roses of Berlin covering the likes of The Great Dictator and Fritz Lang's Metropolis made that one book rely more on film, but did a good job of it - I managed to watch Metropolis afterwards, and the book made the Memnoch Machine bigger, giving it a more intimidating look that probably wasn't possible for a live-action depiction, ambitious as it was for its time, but probably wasn't far from the original artistic vision.

The next Nemo book will apparently involve a place called Spectralia, and with the events of Rose of Berlin removing a previously mentioned antagonist from the picture, I wonder who or what will be the threat there, although I'm sure a fair bit of the book will likely involve Janni dealing with the ghost of her old man, or something along those lines - there's certainly been a theme of her reluctantly yet gradually following his legacy in this series, so it's be a fitting conclusion... but as for what it may lead to, who knows...

After that, there's the story told mostly through text in prior books involving

, which like most other things that started in text-only extensions to the comic volumes, is likely to become a major plot point in the comics themselves later on.

I don't really see a need for this thread; the existing threads cover the Big Two, in movies and in comics, and there pretty much zero interest in talking about anything besides the Big 2 (which is unfortunate, but oh well).

No need to actively discourage talk of them - if there's no interest, the topic will eventually sink on its own.

That being said, everyone should read the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen series by Alan Moore. After the early books focusing on the initial version of the League, then the scrapbook-style Black Dossier, and then the Century mini-series that spanned its namesake and the changes it's gone through, it has recently taken to focus on a previously secondary character introduced in the 1st Century story, Janni Dakkar, Nemo's daughter, who has taken over the tile, and 2 thirds of her own triology of books (using the Nemo name instead of the LoEG one, but it's all in continuity; that's "Nemo: Heart of Ice" and "Nemo: Roses of Berlin") are out, with an underlying theme of dealing with a family legacy going through it. Incidentaly, it's probably one of the very few comic books out there starring a non-white middle-aged married woman with offspring.

Edit: Also, I read today that amazon bought Comixology, which might be of consequence to the business in the near future, we'll see. I haven't taken the plunge from physical to digital yet, but moving my stuff recently did illustrate the space a comics collection can take up, especially considering how often you're likely to read each issue.

Ryu should stick with a sunset stage - the night time version in Champion Edition always looked to me like it was different just for the sake of looking different, and his original just looked better IMO. Subsequent ones just never felt quite as right, and end up just having to reference it in some way, but if one of those alternatives makes it, I hope they at least stick to the classic color scheme.
