I would like to know how to rip sprites from ROMS. I have GEN+ for Sega and SNES9x for SNES. I also use Photoshop for my image editing. From my understanding, I need to take snapshots of every image I want to turn into a MUGEN character (all poses, attacks, etc.). Is there a faster/easier way that doing a "Print Screen" then cropping? Are there any programs that will allow me to do a frame by frame "video" (saving a series of snapshots to capture every frame) that way I don't miss any vital sprites during a particular movement? (i.e. Say that a "stance" would have 9 images. I don't want to miss image 7 and have an incomplete sprite sheet). What do you guys suggest?

I assume that they process for creating a sprite sheet goes as follows (please fill in the blanks if I miss anything)

1. Find character you want to rip
2. Play game with character you've chosen
3. Capture images of character movement and such
4. Crop images (turn BG color something that character does not contain)

P.S. If "Print Screen"ing each frame then editing it before moving on to the next frame is the fastest/easiest way to do this then I am ok with that, I was just hoping there was a way to record me playing and it would auto save an image for each frame. That way I would be sure I didn't miss any.

Also, I know in GEN+ i can get rid of the BG to make things easier but it just turns black, is there a way to make it a different color (maybe pink) so it would be easier in the editing process?

maybe I just didn't explain what's going on very well. From the beginning:

1. I went to MKWarehouse and got all the sprites for Johnny Cage (saved every GIF myself, one at a time.... very boring)

2. Opened them all as Smart Objects in Photoshop and turned the transparent backgrounds for each image pink then saved them individually as .pcx

3. Opened FFC and began to make my new character (following a youtube tutorial). the first image I opened after starting my palette editor process (the paint holder thing... what's that called) was all distorted and I could go no further because everything had turned quite purple and sideways.

Specifically, I want (more that anything else) to rip and create a sprite sheet for my favorite character of all time: Sketch Turner!

So, I had to d/l fighter factory classic because of some weird error with ultimate. Not that big of an issue considering when I used MUGEN before (not for very long) i was using FFC. My problem is that when I open my sprites to create my palette, they are distorted (looks a bit like the distortion you used to get in the '90's when you tried to watch a pay channel you didn't pay for). I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I've completely redid my sprites. If i view my .pcx's in anything else (Photoshop), they're fine. The problem only exists in FF. What gives?
