One reason they could not be being destroyed properly is that you could be spawning multiple helpers at the same time.
Check your helper to make sure you have the limit of 1, or what ever amount you need, spawned at a time.
But make sure you have a good amount of destroyself triggers. 1 should be a fall-back timer. Maybe something ridiculous like trigger9 = time >= 360. so after 6mins it'll have to destroy itself if the other triggers fail. (Obviously change the 9 to be the last trigger value)

If you have any variables that are watched to make sure you can only spawn the helper at certain times, use displaytoclipboard to watch it. See if it's messing up somehow.

You can switch to the helper and see when/if it dies with ctrl+d. Just switch to it while it's active and you should be able to watch it's life cycle. Once it's gone, you can respawn it, and mugen will pop up all it's details. You can use displaytoclipboard inside the helper too.

I DID not expect my talk about Flavio's Sauron to be handled THAT way. Kinda offended by that since I didn't intend to destroy the thread. So I just put it in my own thread, Will be polished later on. If you want to know why I exactly do these reviews and why Ilike Jango's idea so much you can ask.

Currently I only talk about specific characters nominated for the CoTM I was excited for when they were released.

Sauron by Flavio Camarao

Ok so about Sauron... There are quite a lot of oddities about this character that put a dent in the rating I would give.

In a lot of attack animations, the hitboxes disappear, making Sauron invincible during those attacks. I don't know if this was intentional or not.

No custom A.I. This makes Sauron a pushover when A.I.-controlled even though it's likely intended to be a boss character. I don't think the creator knows how to code a custom A.I. but Sauron could REALLY use one.

There's no set layout for the Specials and Hypers and they're all over the place. Some attacks are misattributed. The attacks of all the independently-attacking assists are attributed as HYPER PROJECTILES.

The portrait is probably like that because the creator uses a custom screenpack where an idle frame of the characters stands below the portrait. (It looks really nice tbh) I'm pretty sure Ripper Roo (the character he made before Sauron) came with a normal portrait but I guess the creator just forgot changing Sauron's portrait.



Enguarde by Suigyo

It is a little bit OP and has a ton of Hypers, some of which are unbalanced like one you can activate with Start and can be spammed because it doesn't require Power, and it has a ton of different bars like Yu-Toharu's Hatsune Miku and having a Guilty Gear Instant Kill mode.

Grand Dad by Ninjakick

It has many misattributed moves, only a few of them are attributed correctly.

Rulue by Robo

Has a fullscreen Hyper and slightly unbalanced level 3 Hyper,  The sprites are very weird though (2/3rth of the sprite is the legs??)

I'm kinda used to pointing out quirks in characters and my user title and signature hint to that.

Yeah... Now that you think of it... I could start my own thread. I just wanted to point out some stuff about Sauron, and it happened to be quite a lot. I also like reviewing characters, by the way. I don't think I have enough time to also make a review thread for the next CoTM though. But what did I exactly do wrong? Did you even read one of my previous posts explaining a few missed details?

Also, after reading the review about Sauron some things came up in my mind. As soon as I accessed a computer, I wanted to post that but at that time. MFG was down. I tried to post this but I kept getting errors so that explains that.

Yikes, see what I get for not playing? :-P It does have a bit of that glowing-ish stuff around it though, although you can't really accurately rip that.

It might be worthwhile, if you're interested, to do some blurring and stuff on those effects. Melty Blood seldom uses sharp sprites for energy-ish attacks (well stuff that isn't a solid object), so it might fit the style more if you do that. PotS wrote a tutorial on how he made his effects on this board, so it might be a good idea to check it out if you haven't already.

Yeah, that is a big problem with all BB characters and it is one of the reasons why there are not many good BB characters in MUGEN. A lot of effects use additional particle effects and while it is ok on PS3 and such, it would get ridiculous in MUGEN. Just look at Nu-13 .

I know how it is done and I have already used it for Susanoo's body glow (seen during the energy beam part of the Strike of the Possessed God) and Izanami's Yasakani no Magatama, but I am not sure if I should do it. There are proper "blurred" effects in the game, including some of Susanoo's (his sword and the energy around his fist during Inevitable Calamity are the first things that come to mind), but these are not among them. "Solid" effects look solid outside of gameplay too (e.g. Terumi's snakes on his CF character select art). Maybe they are meant to look like solid objects.

And thanks. These reviews are nice by the way. Is this the first time you have done these and will there be more for future COTMs?

I'm using his Namco x Capcom voice (which I shamelessly took from Waru's).

PXZ2 voice is not a bad suggestion honestly, but I don't want to go back to adding sound files to the SND (its like 42 atm), so I'm going to stick with the NxC voice.

EDIT: because I have no desire to use CS'd sprites. At all. 

EDIT 2: something happened on my end, and I just noticed that my post was posted like 5 times. fixed it now, sorry about that.

Just tried out the Sega Forever service myself on Sonic 1.

And thank GOD it's the Christian Whitehead remake, meaning I can play as Tails and Knuckles as well. :3
