She plunges into the moonlit forest in search of answers. In nearby Scuttle Town she discovers a mysterious trapdoor, and beyond that, a luminous subterranean cavern. A familiar voice calls out, drawing Shantae to a beautiful fountain. Touching its waters she is immediately spirited away to the fabled Genie Realm. At her feet a magical seal swells as some powerful evil seeks escape. The chamber trembles with a deep, bellowing roar and everything goes white. Shantae sits upright, back in her bed. Was it just a dream? Or a vision of things to come?As the player it's your job to find the source of this new evil power and banish it once and for all. The story is doled out in CHAPTERS, with each chapter introducing new subplots, friends & foes, a new Transformation to discover, puzzles to solve, hazards to overcome, and a Boss to conquer. Revisiting past chapters with newly acquired abilities will unlock the next set of paths, powers & plot-lines. This and Mighty No. 9 are my two current kickstarted favorites, I hope they do well and give some hope back to projects without having to ask for more later, like Schafers own project. I need to check back and see if that port of the first game got greenlit on Steam.
DMK said, September 05, 2013, 01:42:20 pmhaving to ask for more later, like Schafers own project.Off-topic but the DFA project isn't asking for more. Development has been budgeted to January and at the development schedule game will be half-finished at least, so they're opting for an Early Access release and using the funds from that to fund the development of rest of the game. Did the scope of the game spiral out of control? Yes, but they're not doing another crowdfunding project for finishing DFA.QuoteI need to check back and see if that port of the first game got greenlit on Steam. It did, but WayForward hasn't acknowledged it in any shape or form so far.
I am seriously studying if I can fit the $2,500 pledge on my budget right now. This game deserves more support and more love.
Well, I bit in and upped my pledge to $2,500 today morning. And today's Mighty No. 9 update had a call out for the Shantae Kickstarter which helped Shantae's to pick up some steam.
Unrelated to the kickstarter but I'm sure a lot of old and new Shantae fans will find this very very VERY old web archive quite interesting:http://web.archive.org/web/19970414061047/http://www.wayforward.com/Shantae.htm

And while we're at it:https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shantae-riskys-revenge-full/id486409447?mt=8Free GAEM for iOS right now (Dunno until when).
Man, all of these stretch goal reveals are depressing to see, because there's no way that they'll ever be reached.
Actually they may eventually reach most of them. The paypal will be active for months after the kickstarter ends so they may make it. I assumed the game was going to be fully voiced (I know previous games weren't but this is an HD game for PC, I expected voice acting since day 1) but welp, stretch goal :|
They will probably reach the $500k, but I don't see this game reaching the $1M, honestly. Let's see how much money they will have at the end of October with the Paypal donations.
Would like this getting at least a million, but only 6 days to go (well, and paypal I guess). This should at least get some extra chapters.
Risky mode is go! Now to hope this gets some good pace after Mighty No. 9 ends so we can reach a few more stretch goals.
