(im pretty sure this is the correct section for this. if its not. then please excuse me.)i have an idea that i may or may not go on with.i was thinking of editing various characters to be P.O.T.S styled. since he is (now i think i can talk for alot of people here) one of the best authors EVER in mugen. just the fact that people call his characters "P.O.T.S styled" and is also considered a "Mugen God" by some people. pretty much proves my statement. now i have been playing the heck out of pots chars recently so i "think" i have enough experience to copy his style.pretty much all of the P.O.T.S styled characters are all capcom and snk(also melty blood if you count rajaa. though i don't think his chars are pots styled.)and i think it would be pretty cool to have some Marvel,Mortal Kombat etc in P.O.T.S style.i was planing on editing Kamekaze's Hulk first(hopefully he won't mind). mostly because he is my favorite MVC character. however this could change.now i know im probably not the most convincing author to do this. since all of my characters have been... well. stupid. but i wanted to try and do something "serious" for once.now this is just an idea. so im not 100% sure if this will ever see the light of day. the main reason im posting this here is to see what you think of this. and if you have any ideas on what you think i should do with this.so do you think i should go forward with this? or is it a stupid idea?(sorry if i seem a bit silly. i was posting this at 1:00 AM from where i am.)
I like the idea. Yesterday I saw a combo video with Wolverine...http://youtu.be/VmZPNqAYr4o... and I got really bored of seeing half an hour of endless VS-styled footage. I ended up talking to my brother if it could be a good idea to convert him into another style, like CVS or KOF However, converting chars from VS series is complicated because those supers are ridiculously overpowered. How do you intend to convert Gamma Crush and Gamma Quake to CVS style, for example?
Rajaa said, July 20, 2012, 02:14:11 amMy characters are not in any fucking "P.o.t.S style"! You are right.People tend to confuse you as a PotS clone because your visual effects, hitsparks and hitsounds are similar, the effects used in your superpauses, BG finishes , all these things look like PotS' works.Just like Buckus. His chars don't behave like PotS but his special effects look like PotS'.And all that I just said is completely unrelated to the thread. If Veanko decides to go on with his idea I just ask him to not use CVS2 hitsparks. They already are demode
I always thought that most people think Dodges + Power Charge + Ex moves = "PotS stylo", why they dont call it "CVS+Custom" or something?

Hit sparks contain stars and particles. Super pause effects are completely different and the background finisher is not even remotely similar to P.o.t.S's. The hit sounds are also different. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.People are just fucking stupid.
Punish me if you want. I'm not the one who's wrong here. Sorry for helping people to derail your thread, Veanko. At least I tried to help you.
gather what you like about his style, use whatever skills you may have, and work towards making your own.

There's no need to call people names over something so minor.2OS said, July 20, 2012, 02:55:46 amgather what you like about his style, use whatever skills you may have, and work towards making your own.Or, if you really like the style and don't want to change anything, don't change anything.
honestly you should make your own approach to character-making, cuz there's plenty of 'pots styled' whatevers out there. then again this is me talking so feel free to discard this advice, but i like it when people make different styles as opposed to just emulating one
I suppose it's just easier overall to say "PotS' style", though yeah, in regard to EX moves and all it is his own custom take on a CVS groove set. That aside, I for one think it's a great idea to convert some Marvel chars into a CVS/PotS style format. However, personally if I were to convert a Marvel char in this way (which I very wellmay do in the future), I'd actually more so take on Buckus' style for them. While they do have a PotS/CVS feel to them, they still retain a fair amount of aspects from the VS series ways. I don't really see things like power charging fitting in very well with Marvel chars IMO, though if that's your goal then go for it. I really believe that PotS' style is like Guile's theme, it can go with everything lol. There are TONS of chars that use a "Vs" style with air combos and the like, more than any other gameplay style. I've seen KOF/SNK chars have a Vs style... I won't go into my distaste for that, but if people out there have done that, what's to stop you from making Marvel chars play CVS style? It'd definitely be an interesting take on them. I say go for it.
Consider this advice from experience.Do try and genuinely learn what your code does. Simply copy pasting from POTS characters will not only not teach you anything, but you WILL get confused when you try to change something without being educated on how it functions. I would suggest you look at what does what in his characters first, THEN put it into your own and make changes where necessary.
Thanks for all the replies. mates!i might do what DivineWolf said and keep a few "V.S" Elements. or maybe add a little of my style to it. it really depends on how i feel and what i think is right.Sundance Melv said, July 20, 2012, 03:15:27 amhonestly you should make your own approach to character-making, cuz there's plenty of 'pots styled' whatevers out there. then again this is me talking so feel free to discard this advice, but i like it when people make different styles as opposed to just emulating oneyes. there are quite a lot of pots/cvs styled characters out there. its just that all of them are capcom/snk. and maybe a few marvel characters. thats it. i think it would be cool to have a few more characters from other series in a "cvs+custom" style.Also. cvs/pots style isn't nearly as overused as V.S style. i mean you pretty much have every single goddamn character in existence converted to that style. Don't worry. if i do go with this im not just going to rip code out of pots characters. i have already studied his characters quite a bit. if i do just take code from pots. i will just do what you said and learn what that code does first.Zzyzzyxx said, July 20, 2012, 01:46:46 amI like the idea. How do you intend to convert Gamma Crush and Gamma Quake to CVS style, for example?hm. im not quite sure how i plan to convert the moves yet. i think those supers will need a massive nerf. its much easier for me to know what to do when im coding the character.im still debating with myself on who i should do first. im thinking of doing hulk. though i might do spider-man instead.if i do actuality go with this and get some progress. is it alright to post it in the projects section? i was thinking of doing what Jmorphman does and do a open beta.
Hulk is huge, and it may be hard getting a CVS/POTS style correct with him, especially since it'd be your first time attempting it.Trying to do so with smaller chars from Vampire Saviour or other normal-sized MvC chars would be simpler, for starters.
do you think spider-man would be a good start then?i know Koldskool already did an edit of him. though his isn't exactly cvs/pots style.
Yeah, chars such as Spiderman, Wolverine and such would be much easier. Then chars like Venom (already harder).
bro, i love this idea, i've been doing my own little cvs edits myself, would love to see someone else take a crack at it
hey guys. i have been editing Koldskools edit of Seth Zankutens spider-man to be CVS/pots styled.yeah. i know this is an edit of an edit. but i though it would be easier since Koldskools edit already has a few cvs elements. and i don't feel like doing a spider-man from skratch since its just easier to edit one.hes not going to be fully CVS/POTS styled. since im going to change a few things to sorta make it my style. however im not going to change anything too much since i like the style. so far he isn't going to be able to dial-a-combo. in exchange for this he will have dream cancels. similar to POTS characters.im also going to update his CLSNS. since the way they are now is pretty bad.anyway. this is officially no longer just an idea anymore.
