Ugh, sorry to be harassing all of you with my topics. Now that I finally got Mugen running on my laptop, there's no effing sound. The volume is turned up because I tested it on an mp3 and it worked. Any reason why Mugen has no sound playing? I turned up the volume in Mugen to 75. Ugh. Any ideas? Is it my sound card? Something?? Anything? Help!

EDIT: I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. Is there any hardware in it that might not be compatible with Mugen?

MAJOR UPDATE:

I just used an Marvel vs. Capcom 3 screenpack, and now there's sound? WTF!!! Is it possible that the original WinMugen had sound disabled and I was unaware??

Was it just the screenpack that had no sound? I.E. BG music, icon sounds, etc or was it both in matchs and characters having no sound? If it was the screenpack before the MvC3 one the problem may of been it didn't have the proper plugins to make the music work. You say you have sound now right?

I used WinMugen, right, and there was ZERO sound. Totally zero. Then I downloaded a MvC3 screenpack...and poof. Now I have full sound. Probably was missing the plugins. I was going to make another thread asking this, but I'd rather not so I'll ask it here: are DosMugen stages compatible with WinMugen??? Thanks.

EDIT: One last question, I swear :D I'm trying to access a character's .cmd file so I can change the input of a particular move. However, the file doesn't show as a notepad file but instead a Windows NT command script. Help?

No. Is it another way of modifying move inputs? Anywhere I can get it?

are DosMugen stages compatible with WinMugen??? Thanks.

Sometimes. Some stages might give you errors though, each one should be fixed individually then. For example the most common one is for the stage having this slash to the other in this line of code:

bgmusic = sound\31 Energy of the Unknown.mp3

One should replace if for this slash: /, or juste remove that music line and leave it like: bgmusic =

I'm trying to access a character's .cmd file so I can change the input of a particular move. However, the file doesn't show as a notepad file but instead a Windows NT command script. Help?

o_O You should right click on it and open it with the notepad, not double click, if that's what you were doing.

You could also have an edit option when you right click there, that's where you use notepad.

Thanks for all the help, everyone. It now seems that eventhough I have sound, I don't think mp3's are working. I placed an mp3 to play as the select screen bgm, but its not playing at all. Am I missing yet another plugin?

^ UPDATE!!

I failed to mention that I have my Mugen stored on my E:\ drive, an external HDD. When I configured the music in the system file, I wrote "data/SF2.mp3". Does Mugen default to search under C:\Mugen\data\SF2.mp3? That might explain why the mp3's won't work but character sounds and everything else do.

no it doesn't serch the C drive.

My mugen is on the D drive and it works fine for me.

Mp3's will have a high chance of failing, try getting ogg format.

There is also a plugin that helps fix some of the mp3 problems, but it seems to work on and off for me. I had 2 computers that I used Mugen on and one worked fine with the plugin, as every mp3 format music I had for it worked the other rarely ever played them or the song would end up skipping. Never figured out what the difference was that made one computer run it perfectly and the other not.  :(
