Adding characters doesnt work?

I downloaded Mugen but I guess I dont need to use winrar? Im able to play it and I dont have winrar. So I looked up videos on youtube on how to add characters to mugen and I understand how to do it and I do it but my character wont show up. I add ss3goku in the select section in data, I goto play the game and hes not in the characters roster? I know I also have his file in the character folder too. Any help would be very much appreciated :)

Just get winrar. It says it's not free, but it can keep going past the evaluation date without you needing to pay.

Trust me on this, it WILL make your life easier when it comes to adding characters to mugen.

If the folder is a differnt name than the def file it wont work --;

The .def file and its folder must have the same name.

Answears above me aren't that clear
So here is short tutorial
Download character
Download WinRar
Unpack character
Open up folder and look For def File
Add the name of your DEF file to Select.def (which is located in data folder of your mugen)-it says where to add just read it write the name in the provided space and save.
Make sure that FOLDER  and DEF file names are same.
If it does not work go to your character's folder,
open up DEF file
theres a line that says nam and displayname - make sure they are in quotes.
If it still does not work then you will need a Fix that rarelly works (which means you better find another char that works)
