Yes I used to get that also. Redownload the stage and make sure to put both the sff and the def files into your stages folder. It sounds like you might be missing one of these if I'm not mistaking.

Answer this question....

In your select.def file... do any of the characters have something like this?

KFM,random

Because if so... that's your problem.  It's a glitch in some versions of Mugen where once you continue, it will actually try to load the stage "random" and not find anything.
It will pick a random stage just FINE every time UNTIL you decide to continue.  So you may be thinking there's something wrong with your stages, even though you were JUST ON THEM... but actually it's a glitch in arcade mode that nobody got around to fixing.

There's a work around... though you may not like it....
First of all, there's NEVER using random stage select.  Have EVERY CHARACTER have an assigned stage... or a generic one for those that you don't have stages for.  That's what I do.

If you don't want to do that... there's the second option.
Take a stage you like... any stage will do...
1) Copy it
2) Paste it into the same directory as winmugen.exe (so basically... copy it out of /stages)
3) rename it "random".  NOT "random.def".... no.  Leave the .def out of it and just keep it called random.  No file extension.  If your computer hides file extensions... UNHIDE them to make sure it's not .def.  Windows will recognize it as a "file" and nothing more.
4) Copy that stage's .sff into the same directory.  You don't have to rename it anything.

Now when you continue... it will successfully load "random" as a stage.  Unfortunately... it will ALWAYS be that stage... so if you were on one stage before you continued.... you'll be on this one every time after you continue. (only if they're using "random" of course)

Check me out.

There's anouther solution and it's quite easy.

you know where it says

[mcode]kfm,random[/mcode]

change it like this

[mcode]kfm,,[/mcode]

If you don't have anything in the ,, mugen will count it as a random only it won't crash when you continue.
